@MobyCarp I bow down to you. Awesome race and awesome race report. There were so many people that I read yesterday that did not have such a great day and you Sir killed it. I am so jealous that you got to run in it and your training reports and yesterday's race report just inspires me even more to keep catching that dream. I am thinking that once I BQ and actually get in to not even race Boston but to just enjoy it. You sir are a maniac and I mean that in the most humblest and honoring way. Congratulations.

BTW @Zekela ran 6.1 miles this morning after racing Boston yesterday and she has the Flying Pig in a couple of weekends. She also ran yesterday with a GoPro so she will be posting her Boston experience soon.

    You guys are just awesome.

Well, it was the 14 mile run on Saturday that I believe may be the culprit, but because I ran 6 on Sunday, I kind of wonder whether it was the aggregate weekend run - and maybe I should have just done 3 or 4 on Sunday. My weekly last week was 35.75. Thanks for the input @kristinegift - maybe it's just more adjustment? I'm scaling back this week - been on a forward momentum for about six weeks now. Maybe that will help.
Good idea. This is exactly why most coaches and training plans recommend a cut back every 3rd to 4th week. You will be surprised by how much it helps.

@MobyCarp -Thanks for the great race re-cap. I have enjoyed following and learning from your experience. I hope to see you there next year. You should be extremely proud of all you have accomplished!

@Elise4270 -That's so funny about the unicorn. I have seen that logo hundreds of times and I don't think it ever dawned on me either that it was a unicorn. If you had asked me what was the logo, I probably would have said it was a horse, even though I know it has a horn! I guess our brains are fooled by the absence of the "unicorn whimsy".

4/1-2.5 miles running with the puppy
    4/2-16 miles
    4/3- rest day
    4/4-4.5 miles
    4/5-6 miles w/ 3 @ tempo
    4/6-5.1 miles
    4/7-7 miles
    4/8 3.3 miles
    4/9 20 miles
    4/10 rest day
    4/11 yoga only
    4/12-8 miles
    4/13-3.3 miles
    4/14-5.4 miles
    4/15-5.1 miles
    4/16-6.5 miles
    4/17-16 miles
    4/18 yoga
    4/19-4.6 miles

Got my run in early. I feel kind of silly saying that I am tapering, since there really was no real hard core training involved, but I guess I still need to give the legs a rest. As it stands, I think we are currently looking to be in the neighborhood of 4 and a half hours of running for the Pig, so that in itself is quite a big demand to put on the body, and I would be lying if I said I'm not at all worried. I am going to treat these next two weeks the same way I would treat any marathon, with some hard core tapering and carb loading. Aside from the taper madness part (which, fortunately, is self-cured by the absence of hard core training), that's the best part anyway, so why not enjoy it, right? May take the pup out for a little run later today and then have some ice cream for dessert :)

@mobycarp Again congrats on Boston and on qualifying for next year, that is so amazing. I enjoyed reading your race report so much, but it made me sad that you sounded so sad about your race. Like Kristine I have been reading all over about the conditions and people dropping out because of heat and such. I was going to ask about the crowds, seemed like everyone was elbow to elbow for a long time. You completed the Boston Marathon!!! Great job toughing it out. I laughed at the "hills for breakfast" comment and the fact that someone recognized you, that is a hoot! Rest, wear your jacket with pride and again Congrats!!!!

Thought this would bring a smile to some (all?) of you today: a friend I hadn't seen in a while who isn't crazy about working out told me that she'd run two miles the other day. Turns out she calls what she does on the elliptical "running." ;)

28 of 60 miles April running goal

Funny story: While trying super hard to run slow yesterday for my 3 miles, a little kid came up next to me on a motorized scooter and said very frankly "I'm faster than you." then turned around and buzzed off. LOL

Totally frustrated with my low mileage and continued aches in my body. I'm falling apart.

@MobyCarp Here's another congrats! You really did great.

    @Elise4270 COOL headphones!

My sports headphones never last very long, so I keep to the cheapest that fit my needs.
Those are rated WP to 1 meter which means they can get wet, but don't go swimming with them (despite the ad).

Awww.Thanks for the reminder! Ya my garmin is to 1 atm but it seems goofy if it gets wet too. Well the only swimming I'll be doing is water running. So that'll work. Think there's a one year warranty. Looks like they've just hit the market here in the US. I've never seen anything like them.

I couldn't stand it, I pulled the trigger and bought some. Ima be getting my grove on "Rancing"! (In two weeks) Cuz I gotta dance if I have music running

Will do. It was only 10$ for shipping. No tax. I work in a noisy area so they may be valuable.

Damn those headphones are expensive. Always wanted a pair of Bluetooth headphones but I can't justify the price for now.
