I had a donut hole covered in sprinkles last night. Fit my calories AND my macros for the day.3

I just noticed @Verity1111 started this thread one year ago! January 8th, 2017, to be exact. This deserves cake!

With sprinkles for @fitoverfortymom
Thank you!! Man, I don't think I would have actually eaten it if it didn't have sprinkles. Gotta have sprinkles!

Of course! This is the thread where you can have anything!
Plain?
Or with berries?
Or perhaps red velvet is more your style?

I must fall into this category too! Don't get me wrong, I like all kinds of so-called 'clean' foods but I pretty much eat whatever appeals to me at that moment. Tonight I'm making stroganoff in my Instant Pot with minimal nutritional value but it's freezing cold out and I don't care. I'll still be within my calories!6

There might be a few newbies who haven't seen this thread yet2

I dont judge and dont tolerate judging me. We're all on our own paths for different reasons. A bit of junk now and then can ward off an all-out crap binge and off wagon weekend.3

I can’t stick to a diet that deprived me of what I really like. I do devote too many of my calories to junk food, but I don’t go totally overboard. And I do like healthier foods. I eat lean meats and enjoy fruits and vegetables. The key to keeping from rebounding is portion size. Once at goal weight, portion size creeps up on me. Need to log forever. I can’t be trusted on my own.3

I am one of, apparently, many who think "clean" eating is mostly a bunch of magical thinking and pseudo-science. About the best thing the "clean food" ideology has going for it is that eating "clean," particularly avoiding grain-based packaged foods, usually leads to choosing foods with a higher nutrient density, so it's easier to get what the body needs with fewer calories. Seems to me like it's an unnecessary extreme though. It's perfectly possible to make better choices without getting paranoid about "toxins" and gmo, etc. Some of it's pretty hypocritical as far as the "clean" stance against "processed" foods, when they substitute some overpriced thing that you can only find in a 'health food' store, and is actually every bit as processed as what it is replacing. Almond flour, for example. We're supposed to believe that turning nuts into a flour involves less processing than grinding wheat?
Anyway. I do low(er) carb because I have diabetes and I'm trying to get my blood sugar under control, and high protein because I'm working to preserve muscle mass, but I have no regard for buzz words like "inflammation". For me, a chili cheese dog in a Mission "carb balance" tortilla is a healthy meal. I can even throw some Fritos in there as well. I also typically drink a literal gallon of diet pepsi in a day (not that I actually suggest this is a good idea. It's expensive and less than optimal, but I have no evidence that I'm in any way harmed by it either.)8 -

YUMMM.
i would really dig a fish sandwich, though. hubby is traveling next week for work and doesn't eat fish. i might have to whip some fish sandwiches up for my son and me one night.
i totally want this recipe!
just kidding! in my excitement i didn't bother to scroll down and see where it was posted. thanks!0 -

I definitely don’t eat the cleanest... though I don’t have much of a sweet tooth I’m suuuuper into savoury foods. Mashed potatoes and spaghetti are huge weaknesses of mine lol!! I love love love to cook, I love to enjoy food, I just try to keep it within my limit and choose the healthiest options when it comes to food I love tomorrow I’m making a delicious turkey dinner. Then I can have turkey sandwiches or wraps for lunch! Yum.0
