Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .

    Good Evening my dear Friends,

Just checking in ladies. I had strawberries and cream while watching Wimbledon this morning. Much less expensive than what they served in England. I read rapidly so no replies but love the pictures.
Tomorrow night is a Moose meeting so will try to read and post early.

Sending love, good thoughts and cool sunshine to all of you.

    Hello Gracious Girls!

I have been having a lovely weekend... I enjoyed my jammie day to the fullest - and then I went to the gym and to dinner with DH.

Yesterday was out and about day - shopping, shopping and more shopping - with another trip to the gym. Had to get that last weight workout in!

Today was lawn mowing, the pool, and a little more shopping... followed by dinner at IHOP.

It has been AGES since I have had pancakes - but darn it - with both the lawn mowing and the pool under my belt, I went for it. They were soooooo good.

    ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Chris - Happy Belated Birthday! I am thinking good thoughts for you.

Lois - Love the new picture! Who is that trio of Lovelies behind you?

Pip - I like the peach or salmon, or whatever color you want to call it. *Oh, looks like that was the selection... excellent...

Michele - I would absolutely "forget" to put her junk into the favor bags. You can deal with the drama, later.

    ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((

Well, I didn't make my plank goal last week... I had to split my weight workouts and I just wasn't feeling it... but, I am hoping for better, this week. I did come in under budget on calories for 6 days - 1 day over goal, so, I am not overly broken up about it.

July Goals for the week 7/9 – 7/15
400 calories under budget 5X: XXXXXX
    Weights/Abdominals 3X: XXX
    Planks 3X: OXX

Today isn't over yet, so one can never be sure - but, I am hoping for both calories and planking today... we shall see.

    Hugs for Everybody!!

Doctors and health system in USA- I do wonder...you know how in the US we have all of those pharmaceutical commercials advertising pills for this or that and it has this long list of side effects...etc. Do they do this in Europe/Canada? Do they offer meds like this, with all of the potential side effects. Or is it just America that is a "Pill Nation"?

No ... Canada and Australia don't have all the pharmaceutical commercials. I can only think of one ... a liver tonic of some sort ... that gets advertised occasionally, and I think it's basically just vitamins and herbs.

Any time we've travelled in the US, we find all those ads both funny and horrifying.

My GYN put me on an inhaler; and, I swear it did not feel like it had anything in it (for 120 puffs) taking it 2 puffs at a time 2x a day … and my bill for this 3” tall container was $70 – I told him, I’ll use it ‘when I need to’; but, ‘not at that price – my insurance doesn’t pay for it if I get it at K-Mart and CVS/Caremark could not give me a price because they did not have the written Rx. Thankfully, I haven’t really needed it; but, at this time of the year I have to be careful about going outside because of the heat more than anything.

I'm on Ventolin whenever I need it ... costs $6 each and no prescription needed, so I have several of them. One in a jacket pocket, one in my backpack, one at work, one at home, one in my handlebar bag for cycling ...

I usually need it when I'm cycling or hiking on chilly, damp days.

Yes, I agree with Kirby, the red is my choice also.
My BFF is moving and the realtor took pictures Friday mooning to list that afternoon. She had 5 showings on Saturday with an offer that was $7,000 over asking price. So now she has to fly up north to look for a house.
Just another opinion re doctors. My DS went to med school four years, internship and residency for five years making less than minimum wage for the hours he worked. Then he did further training for two years in NYC. Then he was offered a fellowship to do heart transplants for two years. Then he was offered a job with real wages. It's really hard and stressful work as the surgeries are long and stressful.
Better hit the hay, hope to go to water aerobics in the morning if I am not coughing.

I did a bit of research on healthcare. Where does the money go?

One of the most under discussed aspects of healthcare spending is administrative costs. The Harvard Business Journal calculated that there are ten administrators for every doctor in the U.S. These administrators have no direct contact with patients and yet often have larger salaries than doctors. An article in the New England Journal of Medicine showed that over 30% of healthcare spending went to administrative costs in 2005 (the latest data I could find) and this has continued to climb. I can only imagine what it is with all the new regulations in place. It’s a bureaucrats’ playground! This unbridled overhead spending is a primary driver of health insurance cost which needs to be reigned in before we can have affordable insurance. That and lawsuits…..

My doctor had to hire TWO new staff to handle the new requirements related to Obamacare. He refuses to accept any insurance obtained through the exchanges as the payout is so low he can’t even pay a fraction of his costs for a visit, all due to the regulations he is required to meet. And he hasn’t even gotten to the required electronic records requirement yet, which will cost him close to a 100K to implement. Some of the regulations are crazy. I used to be able to get a prescription for a daily medication that I've been taking for 10 years for a year, four 90 day refills. Now the regulations don't allow that. Even though I'm not getting any blood tests to verify any need for change I have to meet with the doctor to get a new prescription every 6 months. That means at least one extra doctor visit for me for absolutely no reason. I'm not an idiot, I know when I'm having problems and so does my doctor. This medication is unlikely to change any time in the future and we do the necessary blood test yearly as required. So why the extra visit in which nothing but paperwork (and another insurance payment) is accomplished? It's crazy how government bureaucrats are controlling MY health care, not my doctor and I. My doctor is quite frustrated with it all. His dad has retired because he just couldn't deal with it all. Say goodbye to your private medical practices..

Health insurance is NOT health care and the burdensome regulations are just raising the cost of care because of the paperwork and interference.

    Good evening Ladies!

Thank you all for the kind birthday wishes, it was greatly appreciated. Unfortunately my son forgot, but I have learned to find my own happiness and not depend on others for it. Results in less disappointment.

The weekend at the Cape was "wicked awesome"! The weather was not beach worthy yesterday so my friends took me to a local brewery and then to a vineyard for a wine tasting. Yesterday evening my former Cape neighbors took me out to dinner. A little backstory on my relationship with the Cape: I used to own a cottage with my NJ sister and brother-in-law and used to go down every weekend. The Cape became one of my favorite places on earth. I grew to know and love my Cape neighbors also.About 5 years ago my sister informed me, thru a letter, that she thought I was spending too much time down there and wanted the house to herself, so she offered to buy me out. To say I was heartbroken on so many levels is an understatement. I saw no need to fight her for it, so I lost my beloved beach house and the relationship with my sister was severed. However, the relationship I had with several of the neighbors continues and I visit every time I go down. I have even stayed with them on occasion and I have an offer to stay Labor Day weekend. It turns out they never really liked my sister and socialized with us because of me. Who knew! I usually stay with friends from home who have a house within walking distance of my former house and that is where I was this weekend.

Today was a glorious day at the beach!ifobhulqwab6.jpg
I am back home now, tomorrow a friend is taking me out for a birthday breakfast. Oh my, back to serious calorie counting next week!

    Love and hugs to everyone!

I am trying to get back into the swing of things. Having our B.C. Boys here is certainly putting a dent in my relaxed time.

Archery was a great success and everyone wants to go again. We will see.

Today we went to Heritage Park. It's tough to find something to amuse ages 5-64. I think in the end a good time was had by all. I was a little frustrated with the whole Pokemon Go situation. Trying to be as the kids say a chill Grandma and not always succeeding.

I better get to bed. I read the last couple pages.

Really worried about my Okanogan friends. The wild fires burning British Columbia are insane. Praying for all of them.

Having a 16 yr. old under my roof is tough. He is a good kid though.

I will catch up with you all soon

Becca: You and your sister have wonderful smiles. I'm glad you had a good time. DH & I went to the Pendleton Round Up once and had a lovely time. I'd happily go again. We often choose to stop at Boardman for a meal on our way to the Oregon/Idaho border where DSIL lives. :flowerforyou:

Pip: I like the green and white lattice patterned fabric & also liked the salmon because it goes so well with the floral print. I hope you'll let us know what you choose.

Margaret: I use Bragg's Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar to make my salad dressing and it generally does a great job with acid reflux but today I ate poorly and it wasn't enough to handle the results. :ohwell:

    Michelle: (((HUGS)))

I'm up in the middle of the night with acid reflux problems. I have been so lucky lately with digestive matters but this is an unusually bad night. :grumble:

I survived! Actually the lecture wrapped up half an hour early so we got to the gym a bit earlier. My husband drove into town and met me there. :)

We did 15 minutes of rowing, and 47 minutes of brisk walking on the treadmill.

Yeah, I've been watching what's going on there. Most of my family is in BC.

Unfortunately, I know what they're going through ... my husband lost everything in the 2009 Victorian (Australia) bushfires and barely escaped with his life ... left through the flames.

    Hi all,
Joyce - I don't really have any opinions about the Williams sisters. I don't watch tennis, nor sport in general. DH has to watch it up in his study, or with the sound turned off on his laptop. :D I think I am allergic to sport.

Last night, just as we were heading up to bed, DH said he was having a panic attack. He said he was panicking about going to bed and not sleeping again. I talked him down and he said he felt better. When he put the light out he went to sleep within seconds and was snoring to beat the band! I had to decamp to the spare room. I didn't get to sleep until 2 am. Grrrrrrrrrr! :o

My two new pillows have arrived. Haven't had new ones for some years. I am a front sleeper so need a soft, thin one to sleep on and a fatter one to prop me up for reading in bed. These are two soft ones, so we will see how I get on. I bought them in a good sale along with two protectors. Maybe DH would like one. He is a side sleeper though.

My cleaner wants new cleaning supplies so we will go out this pm to stock her up. Personally I would not use all this chemical stuff, but she is not good at listening. I've recently discovered the joys of white vinegar and have 20 litres of the stuff! ! !
