Can you shake your booty like Shakira?
Does anyone know the cal burn when shaking your booty like Shakira? I've been practicing this as a surprise for my husband (lol, lucky him). I practice it for about 15 minutes at a time but I don't wear my hrm because I do it in my "spare" time. I just can't see "gearing up" for that. ok...I'm not that great at it,…

5k time? Question for the Runners...
Hello there, I've started running recently and am so excited at how quickly the progression happens, I'm already able to run longer before needing to walk and it's so motivating! I was curious to know from any of you runners who participate in tri's or marathons, what is considered a reasonably competitive time for a 5k…

Anyone try kickboxing (real in the ring kickboxing)?
Today one of my co-workers approached me and asked me if I was interested in kickboxing training (lol, because I have good legs). He said they have a 3 time national champion (I forget his name lol) that trains at a local home gym (of a rich guy who really gets into kickboxing) and they are looking for new people. They all…

Rock climbing this past weekend!
While we were at Niagara Falls this past weekend, I got the opportunity to tackle a climbing wall. I was kind of impressed - I made it about 3/4ths of the way up the medium wall, first time out. However, oh my god are my arms sore. Considering making this a regular part of my workouts. Soooo much fun!

How much weight (in muscle) am I likely to gain in 6 months?
The last 6 months I've basically been in maintaince mode as far as cardio / diet goes (and probably slipping a bit). Ellipticals and Treadmills
Do they offer very different workouts, or is it pretty much the same thing in just different ways? if that makes sense. i'm getting an elliptical from my sister, but i've also been looking into buying a treadmill and kind of alternating them every day. i'm just wondering if the treadmill would be a waste of money or not? i…

Losing Weight AND toning at the same time?
I do not have the resources at the moment to "tone" up while losing weight. I briskly walk right now and watch my calorie intake very carefully. I don't want to end up flabby? Like under my arms and belly. My legs and thighs seem to be more toned then the rest. Any suggestions or how long I should wait before I HAVE to…

Step counter - accuracy of results?
I just bought a cheapie step counter that is supposed to measure speed, distance, calories burned, time, etc. It will measure at walking and running speed. I did week 4 of C to 5k with extra walking on the front and back end, and it estimated that I took 8435 steps, distance was 4.25 miles (in reality it's only 3.3), the…

P90X and Calories
Hi everyone, This is day one of p90x for me. I am so use to "diets" saying to eat 1200 calories, that eating 2400 for this work out seems like a treat. I am a little concerned that I will gain instead of lose, but I will eat 2400 calories happily. I looked up results for this workout online and I say a lot of skinny people…

frustrated
Anyone have any encouraging words for me? Last Monday at Boot Camp, I stupidly tumbled down a hill. :explode: I tried to keep working out because I was part of a team and didn't want to let the others down. But I had to give up after a little while. :grumble: Nearly a week later, my knee is still bruised and quite swollen.…

More HRM/Calorie data
This is another in a series of my intermittent observations about the accuracy of HRM calorie counts. One of these days, I would like to put together a more substantial review article, but for now I am still collecting my own personal data and am just posting random bits of information that I find interesting. Again, my…
