The most disgusting thing.....
So, I'm a regular "Franken-food" basher. Being a dietetics student (at a more advanced age than your regular college student I might add), I'm all about eating functional food and staying away from processed junk (yummy as all this tends to be). Having studied Michael Pollen and Dr. David Kessler, who prove how the food…

What to eat?!
Hi! Since coming on this site I've started exercising for about 1 1/2 hour to 2 hours a day because I'm really addicted to the good feelings when I exercise. Plus because I'm bipolar is helps me regulate my mood. But because I burn so many calories with the exercise I end up with lots left at the end of the day, generally…

I ate too much, I'm suing you!
Just wondering if anyone saw this article? Thought it was interesting and well written- talks about taking responsibility for ourselves, nutritionally. Of course, that would be easier if restaurants were *required* to provide nutrition information. Common sense helps (restaurant food usually = high sodium, high calories,…

The Best and Worst Pizza
Found this and thought it was interesting: http://health.yahoo.com/experts/eatthis/36451/the-best-and-worst-pizzas-in-america/ Somewhere between the brick ovens of Italy and the delivery cars of America something went horribly wrong. The traditional pizza, made with just bread, cheese and tomatoes, is now tricked out with…

Nutrisystems vs. Jenny Craig etc.
Anyone have any comments regarding these meal plans? As a single person, I have a hard time fixing food for one person. These seem ideal - but -- are they processed foods? Are they too expensive to do? Is the food tasteless? Am I wasting my time and money? Any comments - good and bad - would help me decide.....

Eating Fast
What are the implications of eating quickly? I understand that you'll digest less efficiently because digestive fluids will be exposed to less surface area. What else? Question came to me today because yet again I didn't get lunch until 4pm, and even then I only had about 2 minutes to eat.

Supersized vegetable portions?
Alrighty so this might be a silly question... but if I don't ask it's going to drive me crazy. We all hear about supersized portions are bad, blahblah. All calories are NOT the same
Just few little fun facts from Banks to make your life a tiny bit more complicated:tongue: I see quite a bit on here the phrase "calories in vs calories out" and "a calorie is a calorie" or some such variation. A rant about salad dressing
Ever looked at the back of bottled salad dressing labelled "made with olive oil" only to find it's REALLY made with cheap-o soybean and vegetable oil (first ingredient) then a smidge of olive oil (near last ingredient)? It's usually also sugar-laden. Ridiculous. Now I make all my own dressing for myself of a tablespoon of…
