Happy Thursday! :) Meeting day and again I am chairing and speaking. It is another beautiful day so will ride my inside bike and visit Joe. Yesterday when visiting Joe I was being attached by tiny, tiny little bugs that were just every where. I have no idea what they were but I cut my visit short since they were so annoying. Little black specks, maybe a gnat but they seemed smaller. Hopefully, they won't be out today but someone else mentioned they weren't bothering him and his dog in the shade just the sun. Weird.
Things are going well without the wine and dairy, so far I am tolerating the coffee.
The debate was okay, if only Pence would have shut up for a while. I love Kamala Harris and thought she did a great job. Of course the highlight was the fly in Pence's hair. Now that they changed to presidential debate to virtual of course Trump said NO WAY. I really think the drugs are messing with his mind.

No time for responses to everyone, but have a great day and please stay safe. BTW, no reactions to the flu shot, Hooray!!

Just read billionaires have done extremely well and increased their wealth since Covid began. What do they know we don’t? 🤨

A fascinating Joker teapot Lin, at least I assume that’s the design. Creepy and yet cuddly!! 😄

Harry will think it’s you that’s planning to move when you clear your garage Anne! Good Mike will be there otherwise I can see you going at it like a mad thing! 😁

Baked fish and steamed veggies for my evening meal but also a glass of lager so weigh in could be disappointing in the morning!

For the 1st time, I experienced some common reactions to the flu shot – headache, soreness/swelling, slight fever and general muscle pain – overall felt like crap and skipped gym. Had already committed to deliver some photos this morning – so took at easy. I did get to take a short 1 ½ mile walk this afternoon when I started to bounce back.
Must be the cold weather – felt in the mood for fresh turkey – so I bought/cooked some… delicious.

    x8nrgd3i1kki.jpg

This morning was in the upper 40’s, but forecast for Saturday is “78” so a cookout is planned. Taking at easy this afternoon.

Jackie – The completed greenhouse looks beautiful! Your plans for the Spring are on target for what I would be planning…

I guess I am 50/50 on documentaries and dramas. BUT…it has to be a solid drama like The Godfather, Schindler’s List, Lawrence of Arabia etc. Hope the sideboard arrives on time.

Anne – Everyone deserves a lazy day once in a while and I hope yesterday was restful. As for Covid, there seems to be a lot of politics intertwined…I will continue to be respectful and careful but not overwhelmed with fear. As for the flu shot – see above LOL.

Barbie – More power to you! Can’t say I have given up alcohol, but certainly don’t have it like the days of my youth and now that I watch carbs…those craft beers are VERY few and far between. Coffee is another matter – I am a full fledge addict! LOL While I am a news junky and stay on top of things, I always implement a mind-filter to much of it when in the last few weeks of a political campaign.

Sandy – You are one busy lady! Glad you had no reaction to the flu shot… like I mentioned this was the first time I did…normally just a minor sore arm… for years I never go them except when doing some hospice work, but both cardiologists I see kept saying I should get it…so I gave into them 5 or 6 years ago. Carpe Diem!

    Bye for now…. Bob

Looks like we may get a few sprinkles. My laundry has become a mountain again. Where does all that nasty dirty stuff come from?

I had a lovely surprise email from my baby brother. He lives in Grand Junction, Colorado. I do admit to loving Colorado. I even love the snowy winters. I don’t love driving on slick snowy roads, however. Anyway, the connection to far -away family is wonderful. We almost lost touch because of his very odd wife. I’ll not go into it but that very pretty woman has life issues. But they are family....God love ‘em!

The debate was very interesting. I was amazed at the moderator and her inability to maintain control and order. Harris just mopped the floor with Pence, in my opinion. I’ll admit to a strong bias. In regard to politics, I have always been interested. As I have said, our family was politically active and held several state offices. They were dedicated public servants. John used to say I grew up with political flyers and political platforms and position papers instead of nursery rhymes. I fear that continues today.

We have an apple tree in the side yard that is loaded with bland tasteless apples. It was a crabapple tree that was grafted to some other kind of apple variety. The crabapple part died but the other variety is healthy. The deer and a family of little brown bears visit every night. Also raccoons and squirrels. It is a regular restaurant for wild life. Katie barks commanding them to leave at once! They ignore her rude demands. But we steer clear when the little bears show up. It is a species of bear that are common in the PNW. They are about the size of a large calf. Strong and can cause great harm if the occasion calls for it.

We will get getting our flu shots next week. I will have a sore arm and will feel out of sorts for at least 24 hours, so will John. That seems normal for us. Our doctor says that with my diabetes, shots are a necessity. Oh well........

Good evening. I seem to have frittered away my day, continuing to fuss with the Thanksgiving cards. Nope, made no progress but tried lots of options. 😂🤣

Jackie, I love the greenhouse and would love to have one in my backyard. That won’t happen so I will continue to mess with the little containers on my deck. I harvested zucchini and tomatoes today. The fall lettuce is growing nicely. I still have onions, that one potato plant and a few tiny carrots. But the things you can do with a greenhouse! Oh my!! And a new piece of furniture delivered. I hope you find a small army of helpers to bring it into your house.

Anne, you are taking on quite the chore tomorrow. What will you do with all the extra pots and things as you clean and reorganize the garage? Keep them, toss them on Harry’s yard? 🤣😂😂😂🤣. Kidding. Take care, no injuries please. I hope all turns out well.

Sandy, busy days for you! As far as biting bugs, gosh, it is 2020 so they could be anything at all. I have heard some biting bugs are worse in the sunshine but I do not know why. Glad you are doing well without the wine and dairy. 👍🏻👍🏻

Patsy, how wonderful that you heard from your brother. What a surprise. Isn’t it good when something pleasant takes you by surprise. I watched only a tiny bit of the debate. Fell asleep once again. Read some articles today and watched some clips. I feel caught up.

Bob, sorry you had a reaction to your flu shot. You got the super dose for seniors yes? Do you always get the shot for seniors or was it something new? Hope you feel better tomorrow.

In summary, my grocery order disappeared yesterday while out for delivery. So, I placed orders from two different stores for delivery today. One early order and one later. The second order contained items not available from the first store. After I found out what was delivered in the first order, I still had time to remove items and add several others in the second order. In summary, it worked out pretty well.

    Take care.

As you can plainly see....Katie doesn’t like to have her face washed or get the rest of her grooming trim. I think I may need to insist on a bit of cooperation on the rest of the grooming.

    Teapot!

“ It has a very satin-like texture to it, it looks unglazed earthenware, but feels nothing like that, which I suppose is why it was named 'Pearl'. This, to my surprise, turned out to be an Arthur Wood teapot, but like no other I had seen before - the backstamp gives it a date range of between 1934 and 1954.”

Too soon? :D . Cooked lunch early… all set by 9a.m. … just need to zap at 1pm. Fresh cooked split turkey breast, French Style Green Beans, Red Sauce, Spaghetti Squash and Turkey Gravy

    7oolqfswzkqz.jpg

Physically back at 100% - gym done, lunch cooked, hot bath to loosen the old joints completed, read a bit of one of my John Lennon books (photo) – he would have turned 80 today!

    spw9objy9zoa.jpg

Sun is out, so I am headed out somewhere soon (yet to be determined)…tomorrow should be beautiful at an unusually high of about 78.

Lin – Nothing like a bit of creativity. I was watching a Youtube this morning as a guy talked about the happiness he derived from just doing projects with pride – it wasn’t so much the outcome as the process that made him feel good. As for the flu shot – yup the super dose for seniors… which is the one my cardiologist told me to get…totally fine today. Thanks for asking.

Patsy – What an adorable expression on Katie’s face…. <3

Time to hit the trail…. TGIF TO ALL ! Bob :)

Cloudy and cold today. Not my favorite but I have a few tasks today that will keep me busy. I am so ready to get a Covid vaccine! Aren’t we all? But all in all, we have been very lucky here. All of us sneakers are doing well. No Covid among us. We each have our own strategy and each is different. But whatever we have designed for ourselves, it appears to be working. Keep your guard up!

I do enjoy the TV series we are recently watching. “Better Call Saul” very interesting and well acted. I would never have thought I would enjoy a series as much as I have been. I have always been a movie person. I haven’t found an author that has intrigued me lately. I have become lazy about reading.

Time to empty the dishwasher and sip a mug of coffee. The only cereal in the house is the dreaded shredded wheat. John’s favorite! It tastes like straw or Dry grass clippings. So today breakfast for me was a yoghurt and blueberry smoothie and shared piece of toast wIth Katie. My music was the Tony Bennet Duet with KD Lang.

Bob: we always get the senior flu shot as well. It can knock you for a loop sometimes.
Anne: will you be tempted to learn to drive, since there will be a car sitting in your garage?
Sandy: love those photos of you and your lively growing grands!
Lin: I bought a “sort of nice” birthday card for our son’s birthday package....$12.00! That seemed to be the price on the special cards. Cards are gifts all by themselves, really.
Happy Friday to all you sneakers!

Actually I can drive PATSY. Took lessons years ago but could never afford a car for me. However bought them (1 second hand, 1 new) for Michael and Mark when they both had to get to university and jobs. Wouldn't dare drive today. Far too old to be safe on the road. Plus I'd need a refresher course.

A sunny Friday on the whole but also a couple of cloud bursts that I managed to dodge. No walk today which felt odd because I was waiting for the electrician but he’d been called out on an emergency. When he arrived the poor man was persuaded to help move the heavy sideboard from my garage along the narrow footpath into my kitchen. I couldn’t lift any part of it an inch off the ground but my neighbour volunteered and they just managed. After the electrician finished his day he and I managed to slide it into what will be the dining room but it’s still wrapped in protective cling film until tomorrow. Too tired to do anything more with it tonight. More wiring, points and channels dug out of the walls and electrician Paul will be back in a couple of weeks. He managed to leave around 6pm thank goodness!! I spent most of the day cutting back hedges and collecting up the last of the pots and tools that live in the greenhouse. A little bit of repotting of the dog rose cuttings taken from the hedgerows during lockdown walks that have taken root gave me my first job. Also removed the tomato plants from my conservatory with a little celebration that I won’t have to clutter that area again. A few remaining toms are still green but I live in hope!

Bob, have you seen the documentary Lennon, The Last Weekend when he agreed to give an in depth interview for BBC radio? So poignant considering how happy he was but he opened up about events he had never talked about before so well worth watching.
A delicious looking plate of food. One day I’ll take a photo of one of my meals.... everything falling into its neighbour!

Aww Patsy, Katie looks amazing and seems to have a similar tendency towards a grubby face as George. Nose and chops into everything so the white beard is nearly always brown! Blah to shredded wheat; far too dry to enjoy first thing or any other time!

Anne, I hope you found a new area for everything that came out of your garage. Have you found lots of items you’d forgotten were in there?

The teapot does look 50’s Lin and reminds me of a straw bee skep. Another delivery disappointment... how annoying. We now know how Anne ends up with somebody else’s groceries! 🙃😉

Gardeners World on tv and planning bulb planting for next Spring. Now that’s a positive thought. I’m sure we’ll all still be here and hopefully receiving a Covid vaccination rather than worrying about flu!

Happy Friday and here’s to a peaceful and healthy weekend.

Hello again. Ha, ha, ha. I finally have decided on the insides/ guts of the Thanksgiving cards. Wahoo. Finally. some work done. All the pieces are made now. Just need to assemble them. I only finished four today but I am stopping because my eyes are tired and I would hate to ruin these cards at the last moment.

It was funny as I was cutting the rust colored paper, I let my mind wander and my gosh I cut at the wrong measurement. And even better, it was the last piece of paper in that color that I had. I shuffled around and found a place to order more paper, in fact several places to get that paper but I didn’t want to put off this task, so I ordered the paper online and had it delivered this afternoon. Wahoo!

Progress will be made tomorrow. 😊🌻

A friend called this afternoon and we had a nice long conversation. Amazing how the days run away. I am still picking cherry tomatoes. I pulled a couple of tiny carrots today but it looks like these will not amount to anything. But that is okay. I am happy with what I have.

Sandy, looking forward to the new pictures of the kiddos.

Anne, looking forward to hearing of the clean out and the orders you received today.

Bob, glad you are feeling better and enjoyed your day. I was hunting for a bag of French green beans but I must have buried it deep in the chest freezer. ☺️ I will try again tomorrow because yours looked delicious.

Jackie, glad you got the sideboard in the house, without injury! Rest up, another busy day for you. That greenhouse is going to see a lot of activity.

Patsy, my goodness, you must have found a very lovely birthday card indeed. I don’t have any favorite television shows that are current. Other than a few things on PBS that is. I hope we all stay safe and healthy. Numbers in this state are not at all good, hospitalizations are the highest so far in this pandemic, and positivity rates are high. I am definitely staying home.

    Barbie, hi🙋🏼‍♀️

And best wishes to Jeri, Diane, Buzz and our other Sneakers.

    All best wishes.

Hello everybody. My order came exactly as ordered but no Dorio. No freebies! It must have been his day off. All the delivery men are very nice and I'm beginning to like "Longo's" very much. That's the owners of Grocery Gateway. The brands under their name, frozen, baked, canned etc are excellent. Even better was my very first fleecy, zip up hoody jacket delivered from Roots. Cosy! I know I shall get a lot of wear out of it and it was approved by number one son.

The garage is almost done. Actually nothing to throw out. Planters and flower pots, garden chairs and table, ladders, lawn mower etc all stacked around the walls (it's a double garage) and garbage bins near the door instead of everything chucked in haphazardly. Just needs a good sweep before Mikes gear shift Mazda appears next weekend. He needs to drive it over with a friend in another car of
course! To get back home to the works car. All very exciting and no I won't attempt at driving it, it being a gear shift! The streaks on the hood are rain and reflections. Great condition.
    k8mfzxz3w67d.jpg

A new puppy on the street. A little Yorkie named Opus. This is a neighbourhood of trees and dogs. Good combination. Other than that all peaceful. Harry was missing for the day. Up north house hunting? We are beginning to wonder if Darren and Katherine are wishing they hadn't returned from England's "green and pleasant land". He in particular seems disgruntled with the way the school kids are being handled here in the pandemic. Part at school, part virtual apparently. Full time school in the U.K. His job awaits him if he wants to return he's been told. We will see as they settle back to the old normal.

Mike will be here tomorrow to eat the "free turkey" it being thanksgiving (harvest festival to us Limeys) amidst the falling leaves. Apple pie for dessert.

So must move and wishing all you lovely sneaker pals a glorious autumn day.

    Anne. 🙃🐶😗🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍄

Anne, wonderful day and of course I love the car—look at that color! Yippee.

A quick teapot for now and I am off again.

Great start to the day! Quiet morning at gym, 7000 steps by 8:30am, temp going near 80…steaks thawing for lunch cookout (rain expected by 3pm – so backyard view will change for sure LOL.) Jean just asked if I wanted a 2nd walk in an hour – so I said yes!

    qcv3wzr8siq0.jpg

Pitted stopped at JCP yesterday - ONLY 9 days until JC Penney’s closes for good. Customers were loading up (despite dwindling selection). Scored an $80.00 jean jacket for $15. And $40.00 jeans for $10.

    ny1djjdv7ptf.jpg

Sandy – Hope all went well with the yearly kids photos. So fun to look at as the years go by… of course it seems the older we get the more we look at old photos. Great memories!

Patsy – “Cold and cloudy” isn’t my favorite either. Assuming a Covid vaccine is made available, I haven’t decided – will assess when released, but leaning toward – yes. We live in an area with pretty good numbers etc., but with heart / breathing issues I am pretty sure cardiologist will tell me to get it. Like you said everyone is an individual. As for Better Call Saul / Breaking Bad – we were late to the party – but after numerous recommends – we got hooked and blitzed thru every season of both at warp speed a while back.

Jackie – Re: the documentary Lennon, The Last Weekend – I am not sure – but you can bet I will be searching Amazon / Netflix later this weekend. Definitely one I would watch! Thanks ! I liked all the Beatles – but I preferred him slightly over Paul.

Lin – Glad the Thanksgiving cards are coming along…good luck with the assembly! I can relate when you said – “I am stopping because my eyes are tired.” I have had the same thing happen when working on photo projects – the spirit is willing, but the eyes aren’t.

Anne – Glad all went well with your delivery! The Yorkie note reminded me of the dog I bought my daughter when she was young… an engaging Yorkie (with a long name to match). Turkey, falling leaves and apple pie…sounds like a Hallmark movie!

Time to get cleaned up and head out with Jean. Hope everyone has a grand day! Bob
