How much protein does a person need? im confused some say 0.8-1g per pound of weight some say 0.8-1g per kilogram of weight...which is which?

Accepted generalizations are:
.8-1g per pound of lean body mass (total body weight - body fat)
or
.8-1g per kilo of total body weight.
For people falling somewhere within the realm of average, they should work out to be *about* the same.0
