Friday fun: what's everyone doing for the weekend (besides Quik, who's chasing bad guys)?
I am going to see my dad this evening, then going to do some Christmas shopping tomorrow after yoga and visiting a local brewery for their food truck round up. I'm the designated driver, but my favorite truck makes a killer Cuban that I always eat without bread. And she always serves me first so there hasn't been any bread on her grill. gotta love a business like that.

    Christmas shopping

I dont wanna think about Christmas yet!

Agreed! I'm not in that frame of mind yet.

I announced a few months ago that I was boycotting Christmas this year... no decorating, no gifts.
I get REALLY depressed each year and just don't want to deal this year.
My family initially said ok, but now im getting resistance.

I have agreed to remember the birth of Christ -- even said I would bake a cake and decorate it and we would sing happy birthday. Just no tree or decorations.

My husband announced last night that he would put up the tree. I think if he does, I will just avoid that room of the house.

This is SCROOGE MODE at its FINEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not care for Christmas at all. I do not decorate or anything like that. I do a dinner with my kids and gifts but that is the extent of it for me.

Easter is the big celebration at my house. I mean, isn't that the most important Christian holiday?

This is why, in spite of everything else we might disagree about, @Italian_Buju and I will always be able to be friends. :) Jesus first.

Apart from anything involving latex or cling film, I've probably done all of these things plus I've put on 20 lbs in the last six months. Ah well, I'm only human, the gym and the kitchen scales beckon..........

Sounds like you'll fit in fine here. There really is no judgment. We all have ups and downs and we support each other in them. (Just don't try to throw away *my* peanut butter.)

I haven't put up the tree or decorations since my daughter died. This year will be no different. I hate Christmas and its commercialism with a passion.

I'm sorry for your loss. (hugs)
3/4 of my kids were born the week of Christmas. If I lost one of them, I would probably stop talking to anyone from Thanksgiving until after New Year's leave alone decorating for the holiday. And I hate the commercialism already.

Christmas is just so commercial that it lost its real meaning and is meaningless to me. Coming from the type of household I did, it is not like I have wonderful Christmas memories or anything either.
People want to shove it in your face for 2+ months and it loses what little good was left.
Plus it is cold and crappy weather, of which will last for months to come.

Easter is where it is at.
Spring time, warming up, no pressure for so much bloody shopping...a nice family dinner with an actual focus on why we are there. And let's not forget finally getting to indulge in whatever you gave up for Lent!

I told my husband last night that I would bake a cake and decorate it “happy birthday Jesus” but I really didn’t want to decorate and go thru the process

I am an only child and feel very alone this time of year. I would rather keep day to day as normal as possible

    Was he cool with it?

Well I AM pretty excited about Christmas this year. I've been blessed with happy childhood memories, and I think it's mainly because A will be nearly three and is at a super cute age. He doesn't know what's coming, but he's paying attention. E is old enough to at least notice something is happening.

I get why you hate the commercialisation though. Even as an atheist, it grates on me, especially when I used to waitress Christmas parties! We don't actually put anything up at home until mid Dec as we have birthdays up til then.

I like to bypass a lot of it by making stuff. In fact, I just finished up making some patchwork stockings for the kids last night. I just need to appliqué their initials on to avoid future arguments. Those kids of mine better start providing me with terrible/adorable handmade decorations when they get older. My house is a taste-free zone at Christmas!

I have awesome childhood memories around the Christmas holiday. I also have a young son that makes Christmas a super fun and exciting time of year for us. I love decorating inside and outside. I also get excited about watching all the classic holiday specials on tv. But I do agree that it has gotten out of control...with stores advertising way too early and basically skipping over Thanksgiving, people going nuts and fighting over who gets the last trendy toy off racks at Walmart, etc.

    @italian_buju - no. He wants a tree..

But - for me I just reserved my room for the 50th anniversary Peachtree Road Race....

Yes, this means you have to listen to me talk about it for 8 more months

Only the BIGGEST 10k in the UNITED STATES!!

For those of you not familiar - it is 7/4/19 and Probably 90 degrees F - 90+% humidity. There is a hill in-front of a hospital known as cardiac hill... a full mile uphill.

My pledge - don’t die and finish 10 min quicker than last year!!!!

Confession: I ate over 150g of carbs yesterday for the first time in 13 days. It was peas and potatoes so I don't feel bad about it. I felt bad, like a cold coming on, and that's what I wanted to eat.

I ate a single orange slice the other and my gall bladder protested (2/10 pain for about 5 minutes) about an hour later. I am thinking refined sugar is the problem, but telling myself 125g of carbs daily is my limit will keep me from eating it.

I have no idea how much food 125g of carbs is, but it doesn't sound like much. Good thing you know you so well.

My eating is out of control and I have no idea what I'm consuming calorie/nutrient wise. My weight is very stable but I'm never going to lose the last ten pounds of baby weight this way. Well I might this week as I'm off my food with the lurgy, but I don't think that's a sensible strategy.
