When I do things that she thinks are retarded and may annoy here but she doesn’t fuss too much as long as I don’t go overboard. Belly buttons and little piggies are cute and deserve attention.
She understands the significance of my favorite hoodie; smells and all. The imbedded smells of structure fires, ships/boats, burnt powder, and other acrid odors. The only thing that can enhance it is her smell from wearing it.
It’s fall and has been a long day of working outside. It’s turned evening and is starting to get chilly. We wash up in the pool house and I spark up the charcoal and hardwood on the grill while ol’ girl gets changed. I turn on the ambient lighting and light the gas outdoor fireplace while the grill gets going. I see her approach the patio through the flames of the fire that are dancing above the lava rocks. She’s wearing my favorite hoodie. It’s too big. The arms are too long and the tips of her middle fingernails barely protrude. It’s too long but barely covers up her naughty bits. She curls up on one of the chases, knees to chest, arms hugging her knees, ready for dinner.
We’re having ribeyes that we seasoned earlier in the day.
I’m reminded of why everything is worth it.6 -
