I have the unfridgerated one which I store in the cabinet and so far it is working really well. I inject into my stomach the same time every morning.

    Hello All,

Today 5/24/17 I started Saxenda. After battling with my weight my entire life I am hopeful this will help. I am only 5'3" and I was already going over 250 (again) so I had to go to a wellness doctor before my weight goes up any higher. I lost a few pounds on my own and now hopefully I will see some improvement. I am also going to Therapy since I have a food addiction and basically eat when I am happy, upset, depressed, stressed, well you get the picture. Changing my mindset will be the biggest challenge for me and trying to re-train myself to eat only for nourishment instead of comfort. I will keep all of you posted on my results. Congratulations to all of you who have lost weight on this it is never an easy thing to do please be proud of yourselves and keep up the good work. For those of you just beginning your journey please know that I am here for you to support you and share your thoughts with.

    Talk to you soon,

    Rosa

Question for those of you from Canada - are any of you from Manitoba? I'm having a hard time finding a doctor who will prescribe Saxenda for me. They keep telling me that they don't believe in diet medication...

Hi! I just finished week 1 at 0.6 dose and lost 2.4 pounds. After my first dose around lunchtime, I experienced a wave of fatigue and had to take a 3 hour nap. I now take my dose around 6pm because I can't get hit with a wave of fatigue at work! After that, it's been clear sailing with only occasional very mild nausea. Ginger tea with a few stevia drops can effectively knock out the nausea. I had purchased a big bottle of Pepto when I got the Saxenda, but I haven't had to open it.

The appetite suppression from Saxenda is SUPERB! I feel that I can comfortably keep my calories low without raging hunger. I eat around 1/3 to 1/2 of what I used to eat...and I'm full. Very happy so far :)

Hi Glynda, You are just a bit ahead of me. I started Thursday night. Yesterday the wave of fatigue hit me already - having to nap from 10-11 and 2-4 pm. I have the ginger/peach tea and I am going to drink some each morning even though I plan to do injections around 5 pm. I had the nurse manager check with the rep on using Pepto for nausea and he said to be careful with that because of the delay in stomach emptying. He is actually on the product himself. So maybe if the tea works for you, stick with that. I will buy the Pepto if I start with some vomiting. Hope not. I will check in each day with you here and we can blog on how things are going. If you don't mind my asking, do you have a weight loss goal? I would love to lose 50 lbs total but time will tell if this will get me there. Have a great day!

I am 54 years old and 5'6". I started my Saxenda journey at 264 lbs on May 18. I have been on the meds for under 2 months now and my weight loss has been great - I am 230 lbs (loss of 34 pounds) and have been thrilled as I have not had ANY side affects. However, my daughter (who is home for the summer from college) has had a terrible time with nausea and vomiting and some constipation. She is going to stick with it for the summer and stop when she goes back to school. She is 5'9" and started out at 233 and so far has had a loss of 20 pounds. She is taking Promethazine for the nausea and it is really working for her.

I started taking Saxenda in Feb 2017. It's now Aug and I've lost 77 lbs. At first I struggled with fatigue, headaches, and constipation. But I got through the initial struggles. The first 30 lbs came off in about 6 weeks. The next 30 took longer and the last 17 have taken about the same time as the 2nd 30. It has slowed down dramatically and I had to reduce my caloric intake because I went a month without losing a thing. I've gone from over 400lbs to under 350 now. Still a long way to go, but keep at it.

I don't know any facebook groups but I did start a blog about my experiences thus far because I couldn't find a ton of reviews out there before I started.

I'm down 14lbs since starting it 2 weeks ago

I started on the 15th so just a few days in but I haven't noticed a decrease in appetite. I switched to morning injections but grrr still hungry. Doing well with the nausea and dizziness though. I'm still waiting to hear from the consultant on meal plans so hopefully soon. I wish you all the best on your journey!

I am on day 2 and am very pleased with what saxenda has done with my appetite. I am only on the .6 dose right now but the amount that it has curbed my appetite is amazing. I feel free from food for the first time in my life. No more pangs of hunger. No more stuffing my face. When I eat I feel full almost instantly. I can barely hit 1500 cal at this point. I am excited to see where this goes. The only issue is Insurance. Greenshield said they wouldn't cover it but I found an exception form online and have submitted that. I hope I can continue as I won't be able to afford it without some coverage. For anyone looking for the form that I used I found it here: https://www.providerconnect.ca/wwwroot/ProviderForms/DrugAuthorization/autho-drug special-saxenda-100-en.pdf

I have been investigating this medication to help me lose wt. i am 50 yrs old and 195 lbs. my highest weight in life was 165 @9 months pregnant. my BMI is over 30 my fasting sugar was 106 and i just feel horrible. i have absolutely no control over my appetite. Dr says lose weight but i am hungry all the time, i never feel full and the sugary sweet cravings are awful. I plan to ask my dr to prescribe saxenda. Any advice on how to talk her into it? my UPMC insurance does not cover it. Anyone know what the cost would be or if she can submit for approval? and what about depression as side effect? anyone experiencing that? I need to do something, 195 on my small frame is just plain uncomfortable, i hate the way i look i dont want to go anywhere see anyone etc. no matter what or how i eat i just keep gaining. She says my thyroid is normal, but its low low normal. i wanted synthroid, she said no. I really think saxenda would help me until i get my eating patterns under control.

It can be a very expensive medication and many insurers don't cover it. Additionally, it may not work. It isn't a medication guaranteed to make you lose weight. For example if you don't have issues with certain hormones or other processes in your body it likely won't help much.

Possibly before doing this medication you might consider getting a referral to a specialist like an endocrinologist to they can figure out whether things in your body are working properly. They can also help with the best ways for you to manage your blood sugar. They certainly might recommend Saxenda if they think you're a good candidate but they might have other options for you and it might save some money :)

I'm going to check out the Facebook group in a moment, but in case anyone comes across this, I've been on Saxenda for exactly 20 days. I started at 5'9" and 234lbs. I currently weight 220lbs. The first 10-12lbs came off in the first 10-12 days. Now I'm looking at about 2lbs per week.

As everyone has said, the amount of food it requires to feel full, and stay that way, is so significantly less than before... where I felt I must always be eating. I have heartburn, upset stomach, and tons of burping... lots of antacid tablets helps there.. and drinking water. But not too quickly! If I eat too fast, I pay for it with bad stomach pains...

Saxenda has definitely taught me to be conscious of my portions as well as how quickly I eat. I had to get pre-approval from insurance, and with the mfgr savings card, I pay only $30/month. I only expect to be on this for about 3 months or so- and hope that by Christmas/end of the year, I'll be at, or just below 200lbs. That would be a HUGE milestone for me.

I do enjoy that I already look less round in the mid-section, and my pants fit looser; to the point that I can go one belt notch tighter for the first time in about 10 years.

I've been on this for about 3 months- have been working with the doctor to get the dosage right- went right down to half of the lowest dose for a couple of weeks and am now back up to .6 I think I will stay there. It is the right balance of slowing gastric emptying without having too much problem with nausea, and I can even have some bigger meals when we have special occasions without feeling sick. I'm tracking food and staying close to 1400 cals per day pretty well and working on increasing exercise and sleep. All that said, I am down 30 pounds in about 4 months (and 5 inches off my waist) which is a pace I feel really happy about. Another 30 or 40 before the summer will be ideal! This is a really helpful drug if you can get the balance right. It makes sticking with tracking and moderation possible without ever feeling deprived.

Updating. Another 5 pounds this month, and that is after Christmas and New Year's Eve celebrations. I am up to the .6 plus 4 clicks dose and it is keeping me on track.

I am on my second week of Saxenda. 0.6 the first week and now at 1.2 dose. I have lost 4.5 lbs in two weeks (seems little but I will take it). Slight occasional nausea and headache. I have not felt any reduction on my appetite. I am calorie counting and trying to stay under 1600 per day (usually manage to say at around 1800). Hopefully will continue to loose even if it is 2 lbs per week.
