Hi All,
Any suggestions on salads to eat on the go that's not saturated in sodium. Just ate a salad from the local grocery store, Hy-Vee, it contained 900mg of sodium according to fitness pal. Yikes! Any suggestions would help.

Sodium really isn't a big deal unless you have a medical reason to avoid it. I feel like anything "to go" will be high in sodium for preservation reasons.0

What does "on the go" mean? That you purchase it ready made, or can you make it too?0

I like sodium but my on the go salad is: a bag of lettuce, can of tuna, wedge of laughing cow cheese, and hot sauce.0

My go-to is half romaine, half kale with some radicchio for flavor. Add croutons, asiago cheese and a balsamic vinagarette.0

Can you not use the salad dressing that comes with it? I used to top salads with cottage cheese instead of dressing, that was purty good0

Thanks all. Sometimes between work, school and gym I just seem to run out of time. Some days I just grab a pre-made salad from the grocery store. But I guess it does make sense that anything prepackaged would contain high sodium. :-)
Thanks so much for the input!0 -
What about the bags of salad, buy a container of dressing and some meat off the salad bar (or low sodium deli) (or a rotisserie chicken) and there is lunch! No need to rely on their packaging which is more cost and worse for you. They have little greens and a lot of extras. You can then have meals for more than one sitting and still no effort on your part really.

Consider jarred salads.

Mason jar salads are the best. I make 5 every Sunday and grab em on the way out the door everyday.0

I sometimes put spinach and cut up strawberries in a Tupperware container for lunch. The strawberries add a nice sweetness and you don't need any dressing. It takes maybe 2-3 minutes to make and is pretty low calorie for how filling it is.0

I finf make at home better low cost and lower cal than to go like at store or convenient center. Make them for whole week grab n go! Kale pre chopped. Cabbage shreds. Chicken strips grilled. Carrot shreds.
My fave is a avacado hard boiled eggs bacon bits (real bacon) salad spring mix and cherry tomato. (You can just add avacado guac. In those wholly guacamole packets that are 75 cal for convenience instead if browning is a issue ar add lemon juice to avacado to prevent browning)0 -
