A (not so) healthy BMI

I was playing around with some features on MFP that I've never used before and discovered the BMI Calculator. I plugged in all the accurate information and was told that my BMI is 19.4 -- which is on the lower half of the healthy range for my height.

While I'm not necessarily striving for a number, I do have some excess weight and figured I'd feel more comfortable after losing about 5 lbs. However, if I lose 5 lbs. my BMI is considered less than healthy.

I figured I'd just forget the goal and take it a pound at a time to insure I'm both safe and healthy. Any opinions?

BMI isn't necessarily right in its categories. But there are a lot of different possibilities, including a body perception issue. And it's likely that adding some muscle will achieve better visible results than trying to lose more weight.

I've recently began incorporating yoga into my daily exercise and I hope that will add some muscle (or body strength, at least). But you're right, thanks for the response!
