2/28 - 3.5 pain free running by the beach miles in Hawaii. :-).

Not a running related picture but we did a helicopter tour today. I'm never going home. My personal pilot!

@Orphia wow, that's a great week you've had: a 5k PB AND a distance PB AND you've made goal for the month. Way to go!

Hey, wow, thanks for pointing that out!

Wow, that was all in the same week! Plus I hit the top of my goal weight range on my 49th birthday on Thursday... (32 kg lost since April!) Holy crap!

@Elise4270 and @kristinegift - Ouch! Those look SO painful!! @kristinegift - I can't believe you got out there and got in another 20 miles!
@louubelle16 - I can't imagine falling like you did and getting back to running. I would be so afraid of falling again! The good thing is I don't really run all that fast so it wouldn't really be a problem!
@Orphia - Love the pictures! Congratulations on your race and PR!
@whatang - congratulations on your PR too! That's a great pace!!
@ceciliaslater - just kicking off that boot and going for a 5 mile run - wow!

@runner_girl83 - I am so very sorry about your dad! Do what you need to get through it and take care of yourself(running is a great way to take that stress away at least temporarily) and still be there for him. He is going to need every bit of your support and positive attitude.

I took what I thought was going to be a wet run with my daughter's pup today in Seattle but when we headed out the sun was shining! Did just under 6 miles of hills and running around Lake Washington and managed to get in the house just before it started pouring! Enjoyed just sitting in front of a nice, warm fire while it poured outside. Something that we don't get to do much of in So. California

    The view to the Northwest:
    l19ow4kc8e5z.jpg

The view a few moments later to the Southeast and the reason I had to run fast even up and over the hills:
    bxt09xg8qe4o.jpg

The run today put me a bit further over my goal at 98.78 out of 90.

So sorry to hear about your dad! :'( Mine passed 8 months ago from stomach Cancer. So rough!
Have been meaning to log in.. Things are a tad hectic over here.
I'm currently at 128k for the month.. Hoping to do a 5k walk this afternoon, if it doesn't rain, leaving me with 133k.

My original goal was 180km though I twisted my ankle last weekend, nothing as bad as last time thankfully but I've just been taking it easy.. walking when running gets a bit much.

My Dad has been diagnosed with cancer.. Things have been hard. I really hate seeing him like this. Running has definitely helped with my anxiety about it all. I usually try to fix everything for everyone and it's hard for me to accept that there's nothing I can do about this. So I run.. Exhaust myself so I don't have to think about it. I'll set a goal for Feb and I will keep logging now and then though - This group keeps me accountable and I need that!

Congrats with everyone for a great month!!

    Recap:
The last few days have been kind of hectic, and I didn’t get quite as many miles in as I wanted/my running plan called for. I’m currently out in LA for a scientific conference, so I’m busy from 8:30 am to almost 9 pm each day and the only running option is the treadmill. Still pretty proud of myself for getting 20 miles in over the last 3 days while I've been here!

Surpassed my goal for the month! I'm pretty pleased too that I've worked my way back up to 40+ MPW and have managed to stay injury-free thus far. Last time I went over 40, I suffered a few overuse injuries and had to cut back on mileage

K so I got to catch up.

I did a 7.2 km run on Thursday and what was supposedly need to be an easy run transformed into experiments. I decided to train the last 2 km with maximum speed to see if I could do it in an actual race. Went great. Almost died but it was great. Then I took a 5 minute break and decided to do a sprint around the parc (800 m) to see if I can beat my time from December when I started, which was 4:00. Did it in 3:24. After a 7 km run. Guess I got faster without even noticing it probably helps that I lost around 8 kg since December. Still got like 10 to go though.

On Sunday I had my long run planned. Decided to do a tour of the little town. That was 14 km. Not hard I would think since I was planning to take it slow. Nothing went as planned. I guess it had to do I ran too soon after lunch, the weather was *kitten* and didn't warm up enough. First my pace was all over the place, had to stop to take a leak. Everything was alright till I hit the 10 k mark. At this point my body was like "woooaah bro you never ran this far wtf are you doing please stop or I will kill you". Last 4 km were a pain. Both literally and figuratively. I blame the black hen who crossed my path. My calves started to hurt..actually the whole lower body said "please stop" but I didn't. Luckily at 12km I think runner's high kicked in. I decided to speed up for the last 2 km again to see If I could do it. Felt much easier that last time. Finished, did some cool-down drills, stretches and foam rolled. Today I woke up with my legs dead. All kind of soreness. knees, calves, quads, butt. You name it. Time to foam roll like crazy these days.

I'm planning to do a 15k on sunday again then taper the long run for some recovery.

Solid run for the last one in the books for February! Nice and easy with the 6 am coffee crew. Knee was a bit swollen this morning, so iced it before I left for the run and I'm now icing it again. Good thing tomorrow is a rest day! The knee is definitely not holding me back from running obviously but the poor thing is awfully sore. My hands are healing nicely, but they're really stiff now that the scabs are all scabby. Hopefully should get full use/mobility back in a day or two. They look pretty gross; everyone in my running group was like, "Let's see 'em!" and then they all collectively cringed.

Good month of training overall! Not sure if I'll be above @Stoshew71 after today but we'll be REALLY close in mileage, so if I lose, I lose with dignity ;) AND this is a monthly mileage PR by 15 miles for me! Looking forward to another great month of training in March!

I thought I had posted, but I don't see it. Warm, sunny thoughts from Williamsburg! I am excited that I warmed up for my three TM miles at 6.0. Next goal? :) Hope to be racing again, if I can just ease off on my knees and ankles by dropping ten pounds. Working on it ...

Struggled last week. Tired, depression, maybe even a little respiratory issue cause I struggled with breathing during my runs. But anyhow, I pulled it together yesterday. 10.5 miles total. Did 3.5 with my son. Felt so good, I went to gym and added 7 on the TM. If I can get 10 miles in tonight, I can still clear 200 for February.

@kristinegift This was a close one. A difference of only 1.75 miles. I think we both did great.

This week is my cutback/taper week. I got my first race of the season coming up on Sunday.

Congratulations to everyone that made goal this month. I will be posting the March Challenge in a little bit. So be on the lookout in this thread.
