    Hi:

    Welcome to MFP.
I suggest that you read the "Most Helpful Post" at the beginning of this message board. You will find a roadmap there.
Buy yourself a food scale. Weigh everything you eat. Log it at MFP. You can eat your favorite food in moderation.
Ensure you are eat at a deficit (calories burned greater than calories ingested). This is the key. If you can achieve this consistently, your body weight will decrease.
Manage your expectations, you may lose a good amount of weight at the beginning. Weight loss is not linear. Your weight loss will stall, at times.
Remember you are in this for the long haul. This is not a diet, this is a lifestyle change.
Have some physical activity, if you can. Any activity is better than staying in the couch. Five minutes of walking are better than zero. Exercise is for fitness and health.
Eating at a deficit is to lose weight
Good luck in your healthy journey

I joined several years ago but find the site too hard to navigate thru. Spent about 20 minutes trying to find the stories to read for encouragement, and knowledge and for points... working on my Kindle and quite often message comes up saying something like site but available. I am retired and full time caregiver to husband and I need to keep myself in good shape especially to care for him. Any advice is greatly appreciated ! :)

The best advice I could give you is to start slow, just log everything you eat and slowly make changes every day to make your food fit your goals. Dont take it all on at once, or it can be discouraging. Know that everyone here is on the same journey :)
