Heading out for A Thai lunch, not sure what would be the best to have calorie wise. Would love to have Pad Thai, but I am sure that is one with higher calories. Any suggestions.

Anything with noodles is going to have a lot if calories. Look for something with lots of veggies. American Thai spring rolls are usually a good option, as is satay chicken.

As always with eating out, the real kicker is serving size. Your average pad Thai comes with 3-4 servings of noodles, 1-2 of protein an 1/2 of veggies :(

hot and sour soup, lettuce wraps, papaya salad, satays, green curries are all on my healthier list. My personal fave though is cashew chicken which isn't terrible.

Cashew chicken no rice is my go to if having Thai ( or I'll substitute tofu for chicken)

I live in the Thai town neighborhood of my city so I end up eating a lot of Thai food! Some of my faves:

Prik King - green beans with lemongrass and protein (I like it with tofu)

Papaya salad - shredded crunchy green papaya with lime juice, shrimp and peanuts

Larb - ground meat "salad" with lots of lime juice and chili, usually served with raw cabbage

Soup - I tend to avoid the ones with coconut milk as those get really calorie dense

    Salad rolls

Chicken satay - just go easy on the peanut sauce

Many of the stir fried dishes are great - just meat, veg, and aromatics. Just skip the rice or take a smaller portion than usual. I only do noodle dishes as occasional treats, and usually when I'm sharing family style with a group. I could eat a whole order of pad see ew to myself if I wasn't careful.

Do Thai restaurant have steamed dishes? If so I would get a steamed fish with sauce on the side.
