What is your Z-plan!

Many work places have plans in place for various emergencies such as a fire, evacuation, tornado, active shooter, but one very important plan is a Zombie evacuation plan or what I call a Z-plan. What is your Z-plan? You need one for work and home.

You may think this ridiculous but it is actually a great tool to teach your family and prepare them for actual emergencies. My family would not take fire, tornado, or earthquake drills nor hurricane preparedness serious, so knowing that they enjoined TWD and Zombieland it gave me an idea. Now they are ready to crack some Z skulls or evacuate from a hurricane or any last minute emergency.

Always have a backup to your backup. If you don’t plan for success; you should plan to fail!

This is great fun when you throw an unscheduled Z-drill at 0200 to test readiness. ;-)

So do you have a Z-Plan?

When I worked a nightshift the guys and I came up with evacuation routes with backups for getting out of our facilities, and out of the region to a rural area. We also had come up with plans for connecting with our families.

Just like you would for a fire, know all your exit points but also as in an active shoot situation know all of you egress and ingress. How to get to them using various routes if exiting is not an option have a plan for shoring the entrance points.

Have an emergency supply kit. Keep the same things that you would have for a hurricane or tornado, i.e. water, non-perishable food supplies, emergency flashlights and radio extra batteries if required. I have a secondary kit that has ammo for my firearms and my firearms are mostly kept in one place for ease of access.

first you need lots and lots of guns and lots and lots of ammo

Spend less on guns and more on ammo...

If I'm building an army, I only want those who were smart enough to have their own guns in the first place. Guns are useless without ammo...
