Gosh so many pages to read. I'll have to come back tomorrow to do that. Spent the last 2 days at Sectionals with Skip, she didn't qualify for State but had a great meet.

@kristinegift enjoy tomorrow and thanks for the mile!!!!

Sorry @skippygirlsmom that Skip didn't qualify for State. She had a heck of a year tho.

Had an awesome long run this morning. It rained overnight so it was cool and a bit sloppy starting out but turned into a cool partly cloudy lovely day to run. If I hadn't had an appointment to get to I would have just kept running and maybe would have gotten to my goal. As it is I am only a bit under 3 miles short - not bad for my first month post surgery.
@ddmom0811 - Congrats to your programming team on an awesome 1st place! I laughed out loud at your toe nail story!! Would love to know what you said to everyone and their reactions especially if they are not runners!
@louubelle16 - hope your toe is ok! Next week and next month have to be better for you!
@skippygirlsmom - hope Skip is doing ok after sectionals! @Stoshew71 is right she had an amazing year and not making state should not take away at all from what she has accomplished this year!

Congrats to everyone who raced today and good luck to all who are racing tomorrow!

@Stoshew71 nice collection. @MobyCarp With all the miles you put on some how I thought you would have had a closet full of shoes and spares. @kristinegift Taper crazies are over now its Pre-race Jitters. Go get it Lady.
No Full Marathons or Ultras for me yet - maybe next year for a full if I can find one early in the season or late fall when the temps are cooler. I have a couple of Semi-Local ( 4 hrs drive ) Mountain HM's that I want to do first.

@stoshew71 and @shanaber thanks. She is so happy with the year she had. She was more upset not to PR her 800m since she's been getting faster every meet. I told her if she continues to cut time in the next two years the way she did over the past two years she'll be running a 5:30 1600 and a 2:30 800 and she was like wow. She really likes cross country more so she can't wait to see how she does there because she's been doing so much speed work during track. I'm going to hire her a running coach for the summer, she asked for that for her birthday. @stoshew71 I think I'm going to call Runninglane I hear so many good things about them. I wish someone like Brandon gave private coaching

I really appreciate you all letting me brag on her this year, I'm really so proud of her.

Will have to see what Mmay brings!
    Well done everyone

Wow, I really need to save the last few pages of this thread, to re-read them every time I start to worry about the number of running shoes in my apartment :p

My current collection is harmless compared to what some of you guys have!
    - Brooks Pure Flow 3 (Nov 2014) 399 km
    - Saucony Guide 7 (December 2014) 607 km
    - Saucony Cortana 4 (Jan 2016) 285 km
    - On Cloudflyer (April 2016) 19.6 km
    - ASICS Gel-Fuji Runnegade (April 2016) 23 km

and those, but they don't really count
    - Icebug ENLIGHT-L RB9X (December 2014) 67.1 km --- my snow running shoes - didn't get much snow since buying them...
    - Saucony ProGrid Paramount 2 (July 2010) 574 km --- "retired" to my parents place; will be donated as soon as I get a chance to swap them for the Guides.

From looking at these notes, I didn't buy any running shoes in 2015. Can you imagine that? I sure seem to be making up for that this year! Half the space in the shoe drawer is taken up by running shoes now. Maybe I need to start storing some in the car or at work :p

    --

Regarding using all those running shoes: made my April goal, with 213.3 km of 200 km.
Or maybe 219.3km, depending on how to count the last 6km. Those were on Saturday night around 2am, so Strava and runningahead already count it for May. I might do the same, just so that I can copy/paste my monthly milage from there, rather than doing the calculations myself...

In any case, I'm looking forward to the May challenge. Hope to see all of you there, and hopefully as uninjured as possible!

Ok. Finally added it all up. 97 km for a goal of 140 km. But no injuries, hit 150 km including bike and hiking. A few PRs. It's all good. Looking forward to May.

    4/1 - 3.5 miles on indoor track + weights/abs
    4/2 - Life day
    4/3 - 10 miles. Very windy.
    4/4 - Rest day.
    4/5 - 4 miles on the treadmill, then weights/abs.
4/6 - 4.3 miles. Cool, damp and breezy.
4/7 - 4.5 miles on treadmill (Trek class)
    4/8 - Rest day...lots of housework/painting/yardwork
4/9 - 4.05 mile trail race...super fun with local microbrews at the end! Had way more fun than I expected!
4/10 - Skipped my long run due to back pain / spasms. Not sure if they were from the trail race or from moving my son's room. Had to skip my planned 10+ mile long run. Hope it gets better fast!
4/11 - Woke up with continued back pain. Getting cranky.
4/12 - 4.4 miles. Chilly, but tolerable. Back was tender, but not painful.
4/13 - 5.43 miles. Went further than planned, because it was beautiful out.
    4/14 - 3.48 mile evening run.
4/15 - 10.01 miles. UGLY. Hot, humid early afternoon run. Went out too fast. Had to take a short walk break in the middle.
    4/16 - Rest day.
    4/17 - 5.19 miles. Cool, comfortable.
    4/18 - 4.72 miles.
4/19 - 3.98 miles while my daughter had soccer practice
    4/20 - Unplanned rest day.
4/21 - 4.8 miles on treadmill (Trek class)
4/22 - 4.0 speedy miles on indoor track, then weights/abs
    4/23 - 11.05 miles long run
    4/24 - Rest day.
4/25 - 3.5 miles. Small taper leading up to HM on Saturday.
    4/26 - 4 miles.
4/27 - Unplanned rest day / life day.
4/28 - 4.5 miles on treadmill (Trek class) - reduced my regular pace and did "hills" at lower incline than instructed
4/30 - 13.33 miles of soggy, windy, cold half marathon. Finished in 1:54:52. Not a P.R., but almost a minute of my time from the same race last year. I will take it!

117.54 / 130 for the month. Without the two missed days from back being sore, would have just hit my goal. Oh well, May is a new month.

That honey experiment worked great! I plan on using honey for my marathon in on the 14th.
