I have the Nova Max Plus. If you go to there site, sometimes they offer free meter when you order a certain number of strips. I only test about twice a month. I am either losing or staying the same, and my diet is pretty much on par. 0.5 - 1.5 I think is optimal. I am usually in that range. I haven't checked in about two weeks.

Just a few ideas here.... keep or toss.

If you're diabetic, you may be able to get testing supplies, including blood ketone strips, covered by insurance.

Beware - Even blood ketone tend to bounce around a bit during the day; also, 2 samples from the same finger prick may produce significantly different readings.

I might suggest establishing a diet you believe is appropriate for the long-term (like 2 months or more, weight loss or maintenance), then see how your blood ketones look morning, noon, and evening for a few days.

Before you embark on a potentially costly experiment, you might want to familiarize yourself with what keto gurus say about ketosis, ketone ranges, etc. I believe the extensive sticky START HERE - LCD LaunchPad has some references.

    Good luck!
