Fasting and Purging - or My Colonoscopy Prep

So, tomorrow I get to go in for a colonoscopy. Woo HOO!! I don't know if there's anything fun or celebrate-able about it, but by gawd I'm going to keep a good attitude.
I don't know if any of our other Goads have had a colonoscopy or two, but for those interested, the day before you get the joy of a clear-liquid fast, followed by two sessions of drinking a mix that gets you purging southside. Sounds like a joy.
In preparation, I have read Dave Barry's column on colonoscopy. Dave Barry is a humor columnist, and his write-up on his own experience getting a colonoscopy is hilarious. Must-reading for any colonoscopy patients, in my opinion.
Anyway, thought I'd share with you my joys in this process. I expect a nice weight loss from all this.

I had one in 2013. It was the best nap I ever had. The prep was miserable from the standpoint that I was freezing cold the entire time.
I did discover that I'm full of about 4 pounds of sh**
Hope you get a clean report!

***THIS is the thread that reminds me of the old GOAD board on WW!***
I have the special honor of having a GI disease that requires yearly colonoscopy. After awhile, you kind of get the whole prep thing down to a science (so to speak). Definitely a good nap though.1 -
Hmmm guess my post got poofed for using the "s" word. Anyhoo Dave Barry's comments would be priceless I am sure.
My first poofage here I think.1 -
Dr. Oz, whom I don't care for, had an article in Time, I believe, a few years ago. Well written and informative, including the fact that he "cheated" and had a bite about 12 hrs. before. His friend, the GI doctor was not amused. LOL1

Had one 7 years ago. Reminds me I'm due to go back for a repeat. They described to me that I would be put in to a twilight sleep and I had no idea what they were talking about. I remember them talking to each other at one point during the procedure, and I remember sort of waking up and telling them I had to go to the bathroom. Very weird experience but not as bad as I expected. What I didn't expect was how wiped out I felt after I woke up. I slept all afternoon after I got home.
Can't wait to do it all again.1 -
I've had two and remember them well. First was with no gas, second with anesthetic and that twilight zone feeling.
On a serious note: DO NOT AVOID THE PROCEDURE. A friend's brother is having colon cancer surgery tomorrow.
I'm not sure if/when he had his last colonoscopy but early detection is the key.1 -

Well apparently the drug they administer right before the procedure makes you feel...absolutely nothing! I had one seven years ago too and it was a bit like truth serum for me, at least part of the time. I reportedly said my parents were lazy for naming me Kim, then reported that I heard barking dogs in the hallway (none there). I think I had a few other doozies as well.
As 'luck' would have it, I have one coming up too. I don't know where you live but I've already put my partner on notice that she's got driveway-clearing duty the day before and that morning. Hopefully we won't get a bad storm one or both of those days.
It is indeed a rite of passage so make the best of it!1 -
Got one coming up on January 17, 2017. Had one in 2013 and 2014 now another one on 1/17/3027. Sister passed with colon cancer and Dr. taking no chances.1

I have had 3 and the most memorable thing I can bring up is the after effect. All of the air that they pump in to your colon to inflate it for the scope in the procedure has to clear out sooner or later! I always remember walking out after the procedure "tooting" with every step. Very embarrasing
