    The amount of energy expended dealing with digesting and using food, is the same whether 1 meal or 6 meals. Actually, a very slight increase towards the 1 meal direction, but 3% and maybe 30 calories ain't much to worry about.

    Whatever will help you hold to the goal.

    If eating high carb leaves you hungry all the time constantly snacking (and in non-fat burning mode BTW) then that's probably not a smart reason for eating constantly. Fix the carb and insulin over-response first, not just causing problems.
