@cburke8909 Love the shirt! Can believe you did the tribute to @MobyCarp !
ETA My husband used cirlge band aids, until he gave in to running shirtless. They make nip gaurds. I've also heard cheap roll on deodorant.0 -
cburke8909 wrote: »Question, how do you prevent the irritated bleeding nipples? I have a psoriasis condition that makes me more susceptible to skin issues. So far on my training runs it's only been irritated but today there was definite stream of blood.
@cburke8909 I HAVE THE ANSWER!
Okay, well I have what I do. Shorter-long-runs - like 15mile or whatever, I apply Body Glide generously and where tech fabrics. That seems to do okay combined with tech fabrics. Stay away from cotton!
For the marathon, I used high-quality waterproof bandaids and a compression shirt that helped hold the band-aids in place. Some guys will get cotton balls to cover the nipples and then wrap with tape to hold in place. I have a somewhat hairy chest so I try to avoid that much tape.

So yesterday I blew my calorie goal because we went to Five Guys at work for lunch (1 burger, 880 calories!), but I was not worried cause I was planning a long run today. Instead, I took my son for some good old fashioned noise making. We were there for several hours until eventually, we ran out of ammo. That is the problem with target shooting, every time you pull the trigger it is like setting dollar bills on fire!
Still. Any day that I can spend with my teen son is a good thing at this stage I think.
Still.. the milkshakes at Sheetz on the way home might have been pushing it. 1120 calories in one drink! Ops
Well... I can do a long run tomorrow. Yeah. That will be the plan. Preach in the morning, and run in the heat of the afternoon. Yay me!7 -
Congratulations to both of you! Awesome times @midwesterner85 and @cburke89091

@PastorVincent Looks like you guys had a good time. I love target shooting with my DH and we are just getting son into it. I only shoot handguns but I am trying to talk him into getting another AR but in .22 so we aren't lighting as many dollar bills up when we go LOL and the boy will be more comfortable with it.0

Yeah, now that .22 has fallen back to more sane price that would be fun little plinker.
There are probably not many days left where my teen will still find me "cool enough" to hang out with. I do have one advantage over his friends though. They can not take him to destroy paper targets like this1 -

Only downside is purchase $$$ will probably come out of my running and race budget since they are both technically entertainment.0 -
@JessicaMcB Superb result placing 1AG on your HM race; congrats!
@cburke8909 For nipple protection, I use NipEaze on my longer runs and have had absolutely no issues. They're practically invisible, and comfortable to the extent that one time I actually forgot that I was wearing them, and ended up with them on for over 24 hours. For shorter runs, I just slap on 2Toms SportShield.
@kgirlhart Congrats on your distance PR!
@RespectTheKitty Congrats also on your distance PR!2 -

Tonight's run was hard, I've been eating mostly plant based lately, but hubby wanted to meet at McDonald's this morning for breakfast, bad idea, my stomach was not happy. I started off really slow and sluggish, at 2 1/2 miles, my stomach cramped, and I could barely walk, so I walked it out for half a mile, finally started feeling better, then ran a slower than average 6 more miles, but easily could have done more, but my kids and hubby were waiting for me.3 -

Goal = 100 miles
Today's long run was tough, despite it being an absolutely beautiful morning. I decided ahead of time on a loop that I thought would be about the right distance - so I wouldn't be tempted to turn around on an out and back. It turned out close to my targeted time although my pace kept slowing down. There were two hills that I walked some on. At the 8 mile mark I was not quite home but my legs had had enough so I walked the last half mile.
So, a bit of a slog but long run done and within 5 miles of my goal!

So after taking a four day rest thanks to this annoying bronchitis (and there was me thinking I'd just got a bit of a cold), I ran my 10k race today. All my training runs up and down Heartbreak Hill obviously paid off because I got myself a new PR (56:49), and came fourth in my age-group. Nice running conditions - 72 deg F with a tiny bit of a breeze and the humidity which has been pretty high lately had dropped to 53%. I prefer it a little bit cooler, but considering the temperatures have been in the 80s, I was happy.
Hope everyone is having a great day.8
