Hi there,
I have been on my fitness journey for years and have been struggling. I’ve seriously even contimplating getting the gastric sleeve done. I was wondering if anyone else was in this boat or if anyone has had it done.
I think it would be good for me honestly and I guess I guess I am just looking for people who feel the same! :)

Losing weight is just about eating less than you burn, maintaing weight about balancing calories in-out. Weight loss surgery works by forcing you to do this, temporarily. What exactly are you struggling with?

I’ve struggled with my weight for 30 years. I’ve lost and gained back 70 lbs multiple times. I can lose the weight, I just can’t keep it off. I’m having gastric bypass on January 8th and I’m nervous and excited at the same time. I’m gaining another tool in the battle of the bulge and this time the weight is staying off! I’ve been through counseling, nutrition classes, classes about mindfulness and eating, I’ve met all the requirements and it’s about saving my life not being a size 2.

My husband's coworker had the surgery. He lost weight and has kept it off for at least five years. The key was he strictly followed the post-surgery eating advice his surgeon gave him. A woman I know had the same procedure and piled on the weight she'd lost because she kept eating and eating. You might consider following the MFP program diligently to see whether you have the discipline to change your eating habits. Otherwise the surgery is just a waste of time and money.
