Protein

I read an medical article this AM which states that older adults should eat more protein. 1.3 to 1.6 g per kilo of body weight (BW). To help with muscle repair and prevent sarcolemma (skinny fat).

I was aiming at 20% of dietary calories from protein (1.1 g per kilo BW). As a type 2 diabetic I was limiting protein because it does have 50% of the glucose raising power as carbs.

I bumped protein to 30% of dietary calories (1.6 g per kilo BW).

What does the board think about this?

Yeah, the over 60 crowd does need more protein, You might want to just raise it 5% test your numbers, and if that works bump it up the following week to the full 30%, test numbers if still good, keep it there.

We all react differently to fiber, carbs, etc. I'd gain weight if I ate at your fiber level, I checked out your profile where you discussed that.
