I was on a roll in week three of the couch to 5k program. Felt great so I decided to extend the running. The result is what I think is a strained gluteus medius. That brought things to an abrupt halt. Seems to be healing after a few days. Lesson learned. From now on I will take it slower and if I ever feel repeated pain I'll stop for the day.

Darn it! We aren't well oiled machines yet! :-( Feel better soon! The first few weeks for me felt like I could do more. I wanted to run everyday. I did double up some days, but now I am at week 5 and I am feeling like I am right where I should be. I may run a little extra during the cool down, but that's it! If I need to burn more calories, I do a nice walk with the family. Ran 2.39 miles yesterday, and walked an additional 2.75. Hoping my body is ready for tomorrows run!

Thank you for the encouragement. I very much look forward to getting back to the program. I never thought I'd enjoy running again so much. I'm planning to add all sorts of exercises to my workout routine that I hope will help me to avoid future injuries. It may take me a bit longer to get to my first 5k (my body is showing me that it is a little different from when I ran in my 20s) , but I know it will happen. All good.
