I fell off the wagon with Halloween Candy, but I am putting it firmly behind me. Unfortunately, I haven't quite managed to get a firm seat on that wagon yet, but am hanging on by my fingernails.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieve permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.
    • Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
    • A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
    • Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
    • The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
    • Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
    • The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
    • When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
    • Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
Stick with the process. It DOES work! But it does take time, effort, and most of all, patience!

I derailed myself last year undoing a lot of good work. After a long absence from myfitnesspal I am back on track. This 10 day challenge seems like something I can do. I joined with Round 57. This is my 2nd consecutive round.

    Age: 59
    Sex: M
    Height: 5ft 10 1/2"
HW: 313 lbs (reached twice, sad to say)
Pre-challenge SW: 313 lbs (started back at myfitnesspal Oct 1st. Down 15 lbs in the 3 weeks prior to round 57)
SW for the round 57 challenge: 298 lbs (I have a photo to prove it, I'll take a new one at the start of every week)
GW sometime in 2020: 195 lbs (several beautiful Italian double-breasted suits await me)

    Round 58
SW for this round: 295 lbs
GW for this round: 291 lbs (drop 4 lbs)

    Day 01. 11/04 295 lbs
Day 02. 11/05 297 lbs (up 2 lbs). I had a customer computer emergency day. An electrician was out at a store and managed to short the power to the local Linux server. Which would then not reboot. I would up pulling an all-nighter to recover the server and replace it with an old machine while a new unit is configured, licensed and installed later this week. No sleep 'til Hammersmith (4 hours after I got home at 8:45am but I feel like I had none). Way too much caffeine. Some less than stellar eating options. Draw a line and start again, recognizing that my goal of down 4 lbs this challenge might now be our of reach.
Day 03. 11/06 296 lbs. Back on track today.
Day 04. 11/07 296 lbs. No change. But on a plus, my blood pressure is down a couple of points. And my measurements have shrunk a bit overall. Yay! So maybe that means a weight loss tomorrow? (One must think positively).
    Day 05. 11/08 295.5 lbs. A small loss but I'll take it.
Day 06. 11/09 offline due to the Woolsey fire (no internet).
Day 07. 11/10 offline due to the Woolsey fire (no internet).
Day 08. 11/11 298 lbs. Ventura/LA fire driven stress-eating weight gain. :( We are not in any immediate danger in Simi Valley. The Woolsey fire having gone west and southwest, and now also working its way east. Thursday night it had burned up the hillside to the south of SV. And sat there burning itself out becoming a natural firebreak. Fortunately no heavy winds in SV this weekend so that fire almost in my backyard is done. Hopefully it won't be coming back in our direction from the east. And that means I can get back on with my diet plans.
Day 09. 11/12 forgot to weight myself due to other issues.
Day 10. 11/13 297 lbs. Back in the right direction. I'll do better next challenge.

Up 2 lb so far this 10 day challenge. Dammit...
Down 1 lbs so far on challenges (I plan on doing more of them).
Down 16 lbs total since I came back to myfitnesspal.
102 lbs to go to where I want to be: 195 lbs, the weight at which I got married.

@bubblegum2fitness, Congrats on dropping down a size! I love the style of your dress and that shade of red!

@emilyc0525, Oh my goodness. Your situation with the heat, husband out of town and 2 littles to care for brings back similar memories of my own. {{{Hugs}}} to you. I hope your heat has been fixed now.

@AJB1014, WOOP! WOOP! to your being 35 lbs lighter in time for ski season.

@Kres567, I think that you are doing very well. Daily weigh ins are an eye opener

@abowersgirl, Your Uncle's birthday party sounded wonderful to me. I'm glad that you enjoyed being with family. ❤ The food! There was no need to feel guilty about enjoying all the wonderful foods. You got yourself right back on track, that's what matters.

@quiltingjaine, Yaaas, your ketoversary pic is awesome! I'm glad you decided to make it your profile pic. I plan on posting mine at my one year mark. Love your kitty blankie😄 10 cups of coffee! Lol, I can drink too much of it when I'm cold too. I stop at 3 now, but then I start with herbal tea. I think I'm over the initial shock of temperature change now, because my water consumption is returning to normal. I do have days sometimes when I just don't want water.

@deepwoodslady, We have been all up and down these 170's. I'm tired of them. I know you are. Let's get out, shall we? I want to be saying so long to them by December 1st. I purposefully wanted to slow my weightloss down by eating higher carbs. I just did it at the wrong time, since I knew this decade would be problematic.

@Oncologychick, Congratulations on your normal BMI!

@Tracie_Lord, Great job whittling that vacation weight away!

@bryony_bby, You lost 2 lbs in 10 days, that is great!

@tlgale, Phenomenal loss in 10 days, so happy for you!

    @gmiller725, @Leroyoliver, Birder165, @MaryQueen26, @allmannerofthings, @denswrex,
    Nice losses this round!

This is my fifth round. I am starting not to freak out as much over the daily fluctuations. I ended last round high, which is why I have a larger goal this 10 days.

    OSW 199 (June 15 2018)
    Pre-challenge start weight 177
    R54 SW 177 EW 175 (-2.0)
    R55 SW 175 EW 171 (-4.0)
    R56 SW 171 EW 170.5 (-0.5)
    R57 SW 170.5 EW 169.5 (-1.0)
    R58 SW 169.5 EW 166.5 (-3.0)

    CW 169.5
    RGW 166
    UGW 140-145

    Goals--
    Carbs < 40-
    Steps/day > 12000
    Exercise/walk 6 of 7 days/week

    Day/Weight/Comment

11/4 168.5 Got in 18000 steps yesterday and an extra 500 calorie deficit. This number is more like it.... I knew ending high last round would make this one easier!
    11/5 167.5 18000 steps again.
11/6 168 Lots of steps, zumba & body weight exercises. Big deficit yesterday!
11/7 166 Walked, voted and then walked with friends. 17000 steps. So happy to see this number. I hope it sticks instead of bouncing up again!
11/8 165.5 So cool to have it move lower instead of the immediate bounce up! Was all ready to go out and walk this morning despite the threat of rain. And when it started raining as I drove my son to school I figured that was ok. But then when it started pouring and lightening, I decided maybe I should wait. I'm dressed and ready to go! Have a good day everyone!
    11/9 165 Woohoo! Walk & elliptical yesterday.
11/10 165.5 --Weighed yesterday but forgot to check in. Friday did water aerobics and elliptical.
11/11 167.5 -- Went to football party yesterday. Stuck to the low carb options of cheese, olives, veggies, chili and a few walnuts....except for the graham cracker toffee, which I had several pieces of. Convinced I did not actually eat 7000 calories of toffee over maintenance. In fact, I was only a little over my calories, so I am hoping that this number will go back down! I did go for a walk and managed to get 12,000 steps. Was having bad cravings and bad mood--which I'm assuming was hormonal. I was glad I took the power walk, because I felt much better afterwards, and more in control when I went to the party. (I was not as good with water yesterday or today either).
11/12 166 -- Phew....Pumped water yesterday. Did the elliptical. Jogged an extra 5000 steps in front of the TV to increase my deficit. I'm clinging to this number for tomorrow!!

11/13 - 166.5 -- I'll take it. Gives me a good looking loss for this round, and a boost for next round!

Round start 169.5, round end 166.5 LOSS 3.0

    Round 54 (my round 1) SW187 FW183.4
    Round 55 (my round 2) SW 183 FW 182
    Round 56 (my round 3) SW 182 FW 182
    Round 57 (my round 4) SW 182 FW 181.8
    Round 58 (my round 5) SW 181.8 GW 179
I’ve only been maintaining but hoping to break down into the 170s for this round! Temptations will not do me in for this round!

11/6 180.8 I’m getting so close to that 179 mark I can taste it! Total lost so far is 7lbs and it amazes me how much better I feel only 7lbs lighter. Looking forward to adding on to that number! 👍

11/7 180.6 I bet this number would be better if I hadn’t had a couple of Halloween candy yesterday. Oh well, it’s a marathon and at least heading in the right direction.

11/8 180.4 and seems like I’m starting a .2 loss per day trend! Tonight I’m making an Irish themed dinner. I’ve decided on vegetable and potato soup and Irish brown bread. I just hope with all those carbs I won’t go up.

11/9 180.2 I’m not making this up guys, I’ve been going down.2 everyday this round! I worked out this morning and going to restorative yoga tonight. Hopefully I can keep up this .2 lose throughout the weekend!

    11/10 no weigh in
    11/11 no weigh in

11/12 181.6 up 1.4 soooooo, this is what happens to me A.over a weekend full of too many get togethers and B.not weighing in daily. Once again, I do know myself and if I don’t allow myself these weekend indulgences I will never get back on the Monday wagon. So, here I am, on the Monday wagon and ready to chug along!

11/13 180.2 Yay! I’m back to where I was before the weekend got the best of me. I have a super busy week ahead so I’m expecting to have a big loss over the next five days.

11/14 180.2 I’m hoping to get to that magical 17? number tomorrow 😊. Vegetable soup for dinner tonight!

@tiabirdie56 I won't lie it really was wonderful. The food was amazing!!! I really enjoyed myself, even if a lot of the time I was walking around with my 2 month old cousin...she kept falling asleep on me, which is apparently not normal because she is extremely attached to her mother. The best part about it was when my seven year old cousin (her brother) came up to me and said "how do you do it"😍😍😍 so adorable.

ROUND 58 (Round 5 for me)
    5’5” 66 y/o Texas Lady
    SW 178 lb.
    GW 140 lb.
Beginning week seven of Keto WOE and still impressed with decreased arthritis hip and shoulder pain. Life is good!
Round 54 – SW 178 lb. down to 171.8 lb. (6.2 lb. loss) This was my beginning of eating keto and tracking calories.
    Round 55 – Finished at 170.0 (1.8 lb. loss)
    Round 56 – Finished at 165.2 (4 lb. loss)
    Round 57 – Finished at 163.6 (2 lb. loss)

    Day/Weight/Comment
11/04 162.8 That’s more like it. Happy to be back for another round with all you (weight) losers! I ate about 2 cups of popcorn at the theater yesterday morning, and expected it to punish me, but I ate well the rest of the day. I was privileged to attend worship at my home church this morning! That meant missing a morning concert with my group, but I’ll be with them for two more concerts before this day ends. I’ll be on the road in a couple of hours. Thor, my GSD, and I are looking forward to a walk tomorrow morning.
11/05 162.8 I slept later than usual this morning. I stuck to low carbs yesterday, but, last night at IHOP, my sirloin steak tips (with mushrooms & onions) and spinach and broccoli sides was a larger meal than I’m used to eating. I guess it didn’t hurt me, unless it shows up tomorrow. At the moment, rain chances are low, so Thor and I are heading out for our walk.
11/06 162.8 Stuck in a rut here—mini plateau? Thor and I walked a little past our 4 mile point yesterday. My foot was hurting bad by the time we reached our water/prop my foot up spot, about ¾ mile from home. I have a podiatrist appointment after Thanksgiving. I won’t try to start running again until I have relief from the Morton’s Neuroma between my toes.
11/07 161.8 Finally, the scale gives me a break! It was too foggy to walk early this morning, and too hot to walk now. Where did Fall go? Thor is disappointed, but I need to knock out another tax class, pack for my trip, and do at least a dozen other chores before I leave Friday morning. I stayed up late watching election results last night. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one. God bless America!
11/08 161.4 Thor was happy to be walking with me this morning. It was cool and a little misty, not bad! We’ll both miss our walks for the next couple of weeks.
I’m trying to organize my day to get everything done before my departure tomorrow. Tomorrow will be my last weigh-in for me this round.
11/10 No weigh-in—rushing to leave on trip.
    11/11 Traveling
    11/12 Traveling
    11/13 Traveling
I was traveling the last few days of this round, but I wanted to finalize it. So, my last weigh-in for the round was 161.4 on 11/08.
