Hi everyone. It’s my Dad’s 60th birthday and he wants to spend it going out for food and drinks with his 4 daughters. Any tips to help me stay on track please?

You can just go out and enjoy the time with your family. Your dad only gets one 60th birthday. If worrying about calories is going to spoil your evening then it’s absolutely okay to just... not worry about it. Enjoy yourself. One day doesn’t make or break anything, it’ll all still be there tomorrow.

On the other hand if moderating would make you happier then just be sensible with it. Don’t get dessert unless it something special, maybe avoid deep fried things or creamy sauces, have some veg instead of fries. Clear spirits and slimline mixers or nice wine rather than beer or cocktails. Look up menus beforehand and see what you like the look of that isn’t going to make you feel like crap tomorrow morning but don’t let anxiety about your calorie limits ruin a special family night!

Have fun, and happy birthday to your dad! :3

This is very good advice. All of it.

I went out for a meal last night, 3 courses, it was amazing, came in at about 1500 cals.

I saved some calories earlier in the and went for a run before I went out... Looking at my weekly goal, it'll fit in just fine.

Look at your weekly goal, and enjoy your meal with your dad

    I guess Hooters is out?
My oldest son came as a surprise visit ten years ago when I was sixty.

This year at age 70 I went to Mission BBQ with friends from my dog park friends. Just being with him and remembering old stories and good times is the best gift.
Playing Texas Hold’em once a year with my three sons is my most fun I have at Thanksgiving.
