JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS - ROUND 62

π 6 Days to Christmas Eve π- Let's face it! We are all human.
- Christmas is a time for celebration. We can CHOOSE whether or not to indulge.
- As long as we do so in moderation, there shouldn't be too much damage.
- Indulgence has it's consequences, but they are only temporary.
- Own them, and get back on track.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieve permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

12/14 - 261.4 CSW
12/15 - 261.2 (-0.4)
12/16 - 260.4 (-0.8) SO close to breaking into the 250's! Been years since I have seen that.
12/17 - 261.4 (+1.0) Today was my no sleep Monday. Off work at 6AM from a 12 hour shift, 4 hour nap and back until 11PM. Tomorrow will be the day I bust into the 250's!
12/18 - 259.4 (-2.0) BOOM! Made it to the 250's and it feels so good! Super excited to spend the next few weeks trying to destroy these next 10 lbs! Motivated and Proud!
12/19 - 257.6 (-1.8) WHAT! Going to the gym and eating healthy is key to losing weight but do not forget how important it is to let your body rest and digest. I have not been to the gym for a couple of days instead ate right and rested. The numbers seem to agree with that statement.

Hi My Friends - Returning & New! Have a wonderful Round!
12/14 154.6
12/15 154.8
12/16 155.8
12/17 155.0 Away for the weekend, tracked all, & remained under calories burned. Ate slowly & kept walking. Pleasedβ£Feels like Iβm getting the hang of this.
I decided I REALLY wanted to get to 150. Iβm curious what I will look like. This is whatβs keeping me going atm.
12/18 153.4 My New Lowest Weight!
BMI of 23.0 β£
Wasnβt hungry, so for the first time, I listened to it, rather than forcing myself to eat. Ate ~1400 calories. Burned ~ 2400 calories with YouTube Zumba & Lisa Sansone videos [First time for both] & a 40 minute walk after dinner with DH + 2 hours of Physical Therapy exercises (not counted).
12/19 153.4again!! Trend wt hit 154.0 for first time!!
However I have had two chocolate squares & 5 cookies (all carefully tracked) today. Iβm under calories, but itβs not been very nutritious.
Question: should I throw out the cookies that 2 friends brought me? Or give them to teen boys across the street?
12/20 155
Part One: So, yesterday was the one Xmas party I decided to go to, my art group, and it was Lovely! And I was doing great (moved away from buffet, only ate what I brought & new calories of, drank lots of hot tea, and ate beforehand) UNTIL a latecomer brought a bag of Pepperidge Farm cookies. I had not anticipated facing non-home cooked food. I had one. Went back, had a second. And yes, went back & had a third. Really savored each bite of the 3rd, only somewhat so for the first two. When I woke up this morning, I realized why. We used to eat these all the time. Almost like I went on automatic pilot. Took a walk. Ate two squares of chocolate someone else gave me while cleaning my art room.
Plan for next year: bring something for the buffet & pack my own meal with a healthier treat or two. Reason: I got too hungry & I canβt control what folks bring.
Part Two:
Two former colleagues came to my house. I thought only one was coming, and she wanted to bring cookies. I nicely said, you donβt need to- Iβve got dark chocolate, nuts, fruit, berries. Both of them showed up with 1) homebaked & 2) delicious chocolate chip cooks (maybe 2-3 dozen) and neither wanted to eat anything. So I made my latte, got my almonds & Kashi. All good. UNTIL they left. Opened the choc chip, ate two slowly. Put the lid on, and put them all out of sight. Calories still good for the day, but I hop on Ex Bike to do a HIIT, to hopefully use sine of the sugar. Later, had hubby put them in his car, so I wouldnβt hearing them call my name all night.
Plan for next year: βWow, this is so sweet of you! (Do any of you have a way I can return them so they can gift them to someone else?)
Part 3:
Iβm thinking ok, small healthy dinner. Calories are low. Iβve survived, UNTIL DH calls & asks if Iβd like to go out to dinner with him. I couldnβt say no. So, I kept peddling on bike until he got home!
And I thought what would a person in tune with their bodyβs needs do. So I ignored menuβs constraints, and asked waiter If I could please have a piece of grilled salmon with green beans? βSure, no problem!β Wow! Blew my mind.
Ate that, a bit too much bread, and 1/3 of a choc mousse. Stomach didnβt feel comfortable, so asked hubby to go for a nighttime walk with me. Felt all better!
Plan for next time: One piece of bread WITH the dinner. Keep ordering what my body needs- not whatβs on the menu. Realize too much bread & water makes my stomach feel a little uncomfortable.
SO, I learned a lot! I have to control the foods Iβm exposed to.
And then I looked at my macros/micros
high fat grams
Extremely high saturated fat grams π³
High carb
Extremely high sodium π³
Protein - perfect
Fiber- good but almost half what I usually have.
I used to eat this way ALL the time. OMG
SO grateful for this Health Journey. SO proud of ALL of us for fighting the good fight.
Iβm dieting from here until I reach 150. Totally because I want to. This pop up in wt is sodium related. My focus is Health & that means solid nutrition. One day wonβt hurt, but many days would.
150 lbs, here I come!
5 of 78.3 pounds to go! π
Note to self: your original goal in 3 years was 169, then 155, so donβt feel bad that youβre not 150 by Jan 1. Youβve got this. Keep with the easy, tiny goals!

@MadisonMolly2017, You did very well for yourself ordering food prepared in a healthier way. I'm surprised that it "blew your mind" that you could order that way. I've been doing that since the mid 1980's. You can also ask the server to not put a basket of bread on the table. If you are going to eat bread, ask for one slice with your meal. No temptations that way. Every time I eat out I order baked fish and a double salad or the fresh vegetable choice if it's not prepared with a sauce.

Round 62: first round
My goal for this round is to continue logging food, water and exercise, and also make it to the gym at least 4x each week before work.

Day/Weight/Comment
12/13: 238.5Starting weight. Today was my rest day from the gym and dealt with a migraine for a nice chunk of the day, so didn't eat much until this evening(3 slices of cheese pizza and 4 small oatmeal chocolate chip cookies that I made for my boyfriend... he won't miss them!) I still was under my goal, but I am expecting a higher weigh in tomorrow morning. Did not drink as much water as I had wanted to.
12/14: 238.5 again todayRealised that I put 239 for some reason yesterday(actually logged same as yesterday). I made it to the gym this morning and put 30mins on the arc trainer, and 26 on the elliptical. I took my mom for surgery this morning, and had to call out of work because it took so long. I ended up only having a banana during this time, and we bought subway after she got out. I DEFINITELY ate more than I planned to, but am going to try to remain good for the rest of the afternoon. I am traveling up to my boyfriend's house tonight, and do not know if he has a scale, so I may just have to weigh in Monday if that is the case. Will focus on water, logging(when possible) and will try for a workout this weekend at some point.
12/15: No weight to report.Spending the weekend at my boyfriend's and he doesnt have a scale... I am not too concerned with this, as we only get to see each other on Saturday night/Sunday, and I am using a vacation day today off of work... Today hasn't been the most focused day eating wise. I made "Firenog" and snowman cookies. But, I have a slice of lasagna planned for dinner and I think I am on track for the rest of the evening. We walked around the stores a bit today, but I am nowhere near my step goal today. I plan on using his exercise bike tomorrow morning, as I want to do some type of work out this weekend. I do need to focus on drinking more water for the rest of the day, though. So that's the plan-try to make the day a little better.
12/16:Today was a much more on track day, despite not being as active as I planned. I turned down many of the sweets my boyfriend kept trying to pass off to me. I am headed to bed early tonight, and hoping that the scale doesn't treat me too badly after this weekend. At least my gym bag and lunch is packed and I am ready to start the day fully on track tomorrow π
12/17: 242.1I expected this. Just have to keep working hard. Focused plan for the day ahead!
12/18: 242.1 again.45 minute elliptical workout and logged everything I ate... Should see a drop later this week. Off to the gym after I make my lunch for the day again π
12/19: 240.7(-1.4)Glad to see it heading back down again! 45 minute arc trainer yesterday, plus a little ab workout. Stayed under my calories and logged all my water as well. Hoping to get back to Friday's weight, this week! Planning a gym workout before my yucky closing shift tonight(open until 11 instead of the usual 9)
12/20: 239.6 (-1.1)
Weighed in this morning but forgot to post. Did 5 miles on the elliptical, and a good round of weights at the gym yesterday. Definitely felt it today, and took a needed rest day as I ended up picking up an extra shift, and had a lot of extra stuff to get done at home. Hoping for one more good weigh in tomorrow before I am off to my boyfriend's house for the weekend... Maybe I will get a scale to use at his house when I am there π€

Goal: Increase fat in my diet.
Date/Weight/Comment
12/14 -216.4 I think some of the water retention from working out this week is now gone.
12/15 -215.8 Weird night last night. Wind storm in the area and power went out at about 6:30pm and didn't get back on until 12:30am. Ended up going to bed early and in turn woke up extra early. Plan is to take dog out for 3 mile walk today during a break in the storm. Going out for lunch and going to the symphony later today. Goal is to get water in today.
12/16 -216.4 Water weight from lunch yesterday. I tried to make sure that I didn't eat anything that I shouldn't, but I wasn't going to worry too much if there was some ingredient in my meal that is on my do not eat list. Went to the gym today and did some weightlifting. Today I am relaxing, watching football, and making sure I work on getting my water in.
12/17 -216.9 Feeling heavy today. I ate a lot more calories than usual yesterday. I ate a whole avocado yesterday, something I never do, and even though I know avocados have a lot of calories, it wasn't until I was reviewing my diary yesterday evening did I realize the % of my daily calories that went to that avocado. It was a lot, but it tasted so good. Lesson learned, everything in moderation. This morning I was looking at my comments and noticed that over the weekend I was working on getting my water in, something that I attempt to work on every weekend and something that doesn't happen. This morning I realized that who cares if I don't get my water in over the weekend. I want to live an 80/20 life and not worry about things that for me right now aren't that important. So, while I don't get all the water I should be getting in during the weekend, I still get more than enough water during the week. Right now I'm focusing on exercising, consistent logging, eating at a slight deficit, and following my elimination diet. Whether I get enough water in on the weekends or not who cares!
12/18 -216.7 Plan was to take dog out for a 3 mile walk last night, but the wind combined with the rain kept me from doing much of a walk. Very proud that I went to the gym this morning even though I woke up at 2 in the morning and couldn't get back to sleep until 3. My husband has done a lot of Christmas baking, luckily I'm still on my elimination diet, so I haven't been tempted to eat his treats. Of course I'm snacking on other foods, but that's besides the point.
12/19 -216.4 Up and down and up and down; however, I have weighed in every day lower than my average weight last round. Yoga tonight
12/20 -216.7 Did my weightlifting this morning before work. For the first time in 3 weeks I ate something that contained cow's milk in it. Immediately after I ate it I felt so tired and had some heartburn, I will have to talk to my nutritionist about it on Saturday. It will be interesting to hear what she has to say.

Day/Weight/Comment
12/14: 171 I want to go to the gym pretty bad, but I'm a sicky.
12/15: 171.2 I let myself eat too many chips yesterdayBest believe I ran my butt off today though.
12/16: 170.2 SO CLOSE TO THE 160s! Normal weight for my height starts at 168, so I'm pumped. Hopefully this means I'll hit that NY goalCan't lie, considered going to the gym BEFORE the weigh in, but I never do that so it feels like cheating.
12/17: 170.2 I've got some sorta bug that just won't go away. Happy no-gym Monday

I would love to be at 155 by Christmas but will be happy just being solidly in the 150s! Day/Weight/Comment
12/14 -- 160.5 -- Mildly frustrated with this. Ate super well yesterday with huge deficit. Ran 3/4 of my 4 mile "walk". Possibly fluid retention from lots of exercise yesterday, but hoping to see this number down tomorrow! Could also be fluid retention from late night scotch after a stressful day!
12/15 -- 159.5 -- Still looking fro the 158.5 I had for many days last week. Today I went to zumba and then baked 800 cookies and made dough for another 400. The goal is 3600 cookies by Monday! I only ate two...so that wasn't too bad!
12/16 -- 158.5 -- Good considering yesterday's cookie extravaganza. We baked another 1600 today, so we are on track to finish tomorrow with another 1200. Ate a few today...not too many, but the oatmeal cookie dough is so good! I also ate a slice of pizza, as that is our traditional tree decorating dinner. Then I switched to salad and leftover pork tenderloin. I was within calories for the day, although higher carb than usual. Hope everyone had a happy day!
12/17 -- 159 -- Not to bad in the midst of cookie baking! I weighed, but missed posting yesterday.
12/18 -- 158 -- Really happy to see this number this morning! The cookie baking is done. 4000+ cookies in 3 days. 120 boxes packed up and ready to deliver, and about 50 left of each of 9 different kinds to bring to Christmas with family. (Really, it's ok! There are thirteen of us and the eaters include 5 teenage boys!) Mostly normal eating from now until December 23!
12/19 -- 156.5 Whoo Hoo! Now in reality I'll probably bounce up and down around this number for a while before
dropping again. Trying to get used to the weirdness of the scale!
12/20 -- 155 -- Whoosh! I weighed myself a bazillion times...but this number stuck. Good thing that after tomorrow I won't be able to weigh in for 9 days because I think there will be much bouncing!

Hi everybody. I wasn't here for many challenges, I'm trying to come back. I gained so much weight, I afraid to weigh myself. But I'll start to see a dietitian on Monday (12/17), so I'll add my weight on 12/17. Until Monday, I'll add my comments for each day.
12/14
I overate today, I took so much sugar and carb. Every day I feel like I have to eat sugar/junk food, I really addicted. Not a good day, but at least I walked 8200 steps with my heavy backpack.

12/17 87.5 kg (192.9 lbs)
This is the first time I weighed myself after many weeks. I wished that I would be less than 88 kg, so I didn't feel so bad, I was ready for that. I went dietitian this morning and we talked a lot and made a diet plan. I feel motivated, we made a goal which is I'll be 79.9 kg (176.1 lbs) after 2 months. In this challenge, I want to end up with 86.5 kg (190.6 lbs). According to my body analysis (with Tanita) I already have water retention, so I think I can lose 1 kg.
12/18 88 kg (194 lbs)
OK. I wasn't expecting this. But this was the first time I drank 2.1 liters of water in a day, maybe it's about that. My dietitian said that I need to drink 3 liters of waters, but it's really hard for me. Whatever, yesterday was the first day of my new diet and it was good. I didn't feel hungry until night. I'm still highly motivated.
12/19 88 kg (194 lbs)
I'm still optimistic, this is before bathroom weight. I believe I'll see a better number tomorrow. Yesterday was good, I didn't eat exactly according to diet, I did little changes. However, I took enough calories.
12/20 87.4 kg (192.6 lbs)
Yes! Yesterday breakfast wasn't good actually, I couldn't find proper thing to eat and took extra calories, however I tried to balance it through the day and finished the day under my calorie limit. When I'm home it's easy to diet but I need to learn to find solutions when I'm out. This is my 4th day of the new diet, cannot wait to weigh with Tanita at dietitian. I feel like I'm losing fat (I know too soon to say, I'm over-optimistic) (smiling poop emoji is here)
12/21 87.4 kg (192.6 lbs)
I realized that I'm not motivated that I thought. Yesterday I ate cookies, I ate FOUR cookies. I want to blame my PMS but that's not just true. Whatever I ate them in the afternoon so I didn't have dinner. I was below my calorie limit however did not get enough nutrients. And also I couldn't drink enough water. Maybe I could blame going out? I think social eating is a thing. When I'm out with people it's really harder for me to stop myself eating junk food (I mean delicious food). Through this 3 days, I will go out for some conference and socializing, I don't know how to deal but I'll try to find a solution. I hope.

Take hormones like I'm supposed to
This is my third round. Lost 5 lbs in round 1, but wobbled up and down in round 2, because of an error with a soda (thought it was diet and wasn't) on keto. Obviously lead to food cravings, several days of higher calorie intakes, and water retention. I should just be getting out of the woods now. Another week before I'm surely out of the woods again.

12/13 - 242 Def. Fluid retention. Party and an hour of cardio today. Good day! I write far too much for forum posts, so I am going to start posting blog links.

12/16 - ...
12/17 - Still between 240 and 245, but can see in feet/ feel in hands, still retaining water. Little frustrated with that. I'm going to hit the cardio hard this week. Was TOM from Thursday to today and I was just too "ugh" to do any exercise. Sore, tired, annoyed. Also felt a twinge of tendinitis in my left leg and didn't wanna screw it up in a real way. Even though not counting calories before I eat anymore (logging it after I've eaten what I want/ need to prevent eating disorder neurosis from sabotaging me), actually doing better than last round on the calorie counts. Blog link for more!
12/18 - ...
12/19 - I have not done the best with updating this round, but that's okay. My weight is still a bit higher. I don't know if I really care, though. I have lost FAT, without question. I'm sitting in a pair of size 20's, and I can stick both hands into them, and they're a lower cut pair of jeans, which I have been having to pull up... this isn't a thing that's happened, ever. I've never been smaller than a 20, and I'm not long before I know I'll be in 18's. I'll have to buy MORE new clothes. Thank goodness for big, expansive Goodwills and thrift stores lol. And with the exception of a couple of days where I probably ate my maintenance calories again, I've had a substantial calorie deficit. So I might be averaging a low calorie deficit, but my body is changing A LOT. It's just the ever-infuriating scale that is bouncing around. I did MURDEROUSLY hard core workouts today and yesterday, and will do another one tomorrow. My midsection is more sore than it has ever been, and I have to admit, I kinda love it. I feel great about myself, and about my choices food wise. I might be eating a ton of salt, though. Could be why weight is up. Been getting more water, though, so hopefully that'll flush it out.

π 3 Days to Christmas Eve π- Let's face it!

Round 61 11st 12lb (-1 lb)
Day/Weight/Comment
This is going to be a difficult week
12/14 - 11st 12lb - no loss, but no gain - so I'm ok. Had a choice of a lot of food yesterday evening but just had
one small cake and biscuit, instead of several sweet offerings, including mince pies. Kept within calories.
12/15 - 11st 12.2lb - disappointed because, as always, I weighed everything yesterday and I kept within my calorie allowance and due to walking I also had a good calorie deficit so could easily have had more.
12/16 - 11st 12.8lb - another increase. I weighed and measured everything yesterday and my calorie intake was 1161 calories. I've not yet got to the party days!!!!
12/17 - 11st 12lb Phew - back to starting weight of this round. I had to guess the calories of my intake yesterday. Looks like I didn't do too bad a job, although my macros were not the best
12/18 - 11st 12.2lb - should not have had that biscuit! Had 1253 calories, only ate some of my exercise calories.
Woke up last night with toothache and a bad cold, and I've been sneezing all day.
I made an appointment with the dentist for tomorrow, but I think I will have to cancel meeting my friend due to my cold. I cannot believe that this has happened when I have 4 events in a row from tomorrow - the way I feel I won't be able to go to any of them. I don't want to spoil anyone's Christmas. I haven't been able to eat all my calories today - I had one good meal and one snack, but cannot face anything else.
12/19 - 11st11.6lb Meeting friend at cafe as a pre birthday meet up. Cancelled meeting with friend as I am still sneezing. Also cancelled visit to dentist which I've temporarily rebooked for Friday, but able to cancel if still not well.
12/20 - 11st10.4 My birthday and a Christmas party? with my book group. Weight loss likely to be due to night sweats. However I woke up feeling much better and my temperature has gone from 100.2 to 97.4. (I'm always lower than the average 98.4 when I'm ok) Not sure if I'll go to the party tonight - it depends how I feel nearer the time.
12/21 - 11st 10lb - Went out last night as I was feeling much better. Even managed to lose weight by being careful with the buffet despite having banoffee cheesecake with cream! Just a few presents to wrap for tonight's family get together for Christmas and my birthday/meal out.
Thanks to everyone for my birthday wishes yesterday.
12/22 - eve/eve party with friends - a day earlier than usual
12/23 - One day at home before going to my son's house for Christmas11 -
38F/SW: 150/FGW: 120
I want this round to be the start of building consistency and habit in eating mindfully. Maybe throw in a little exercise. And if I can lose 1-2 pounds, that would be even better.
12/14 -147.5; I shouldn't be surprised by this because yesterday was full of salt and carbs. There's a part of me that keeps hoping that those delicious things won't have an impact, but they do. Today will be better.
12/15 -Traveling and no scale...I tried to be a little bit good, but had a too much fun at a holiday party.
12/16 -Traveling and no scale...I also had Taco Bell so I'm sure that wasn't the best idea.
12/17 -147.4; Down .1 pounds from my starting weight. Given that I didn't put as much effort as I should have, I'll take that as a positive. I'm back on my normal daily schedule now and back to intermittent fasting. I'm looking forward to some time off from work in the next few days so I can start easing myself back into a routine for working out and meal prep.
12/18 -147.7; I'm disappointed. I know it's a small gain, but I did really well yesterday. I was very deliberate about what I ate, had plenty of water, lots of veggies, etc. It's probably catch-up from a couple of days ago, but I really hate how it seems to take so much effort to see progress and so little to undo everything :-\ Today is a new day, though, and I'll try again.
12/19 -147.2; Feeling a little better today. It seems like I have a 2 day lag when it comes to weight, whether I've eaten well or poorly. I'm making an effort to be mindful again today and doing some meal prep because I'm off thru the new year. I'll start going to the gym as well...perhaps tonight, but definitely tomorrow morning.
12/20 -145.9; One of the best things about this exercise is that I'm learning more about how my body works. Gains seem to be pretty instantaneous (carbs, binging, sodium, etc) but losses seem to have a 2-3 day delay. It really reinforces the need for consistency, otherwise I'm going to keep seeing these swings. Today is a new day so I'm ready to try and make it a good one!
12/21 -146.7; Trying hard to not be disappointed. I did well yesterday, even worked out. Will try to do the same today.

These next 10 days will include some Holiday parties and my birthday, so Iβm just going to continue to track my food and be mindful of my eating, but Iβm going to enjoy this time of year with all the celebrations.
Day/Weight/Comment
12/14 - 144.5 - I'm down just in time for a tax planning lunch with a client. I checked the menu and there's no real low calorie options. I'm just planning to bring half of the lunch back and I'll give it to my husband to eat over the weekend.
12/15 - 144.5 - We're going out to eat tonight with some friends. I will probably be fine on the food calories, it's the adult beverage calories that will get me tomorrow. Oh well, it's time for celebrations. In a month, I won't be able to go out much at all.
12/16 - 145.5
12/17 - 145.5 - Glad it's not higher. I did some mindless snacking yesterday which I have not done in over 9 months. Back on track today in preparation for all the parties this weekend and next week.
12/18 - 144 - I'm surprised at this number. I doubt this sticks, but I'm happy to see it today.
12/19 - 143 - So I have somehow made it back down to my pre-Holiday parties weight. I've got plenty of parties left to go and this makes it easier for me to enjoy all the food.
12/20 - 143 - That stung a little to change my age on my heading. I don't know why 55 seems worse than 50 was, but I really need to be happy that I'm the healthiest I've been since I've been 40. Ironically, my Aunt called me last night to let me know that my 101 year old Grandma is now in hospice care. She never had a problem with her weight. She kept a very active lifestyle and although she was a baker, she never binged on her cakes, cookies, or her incredible brownies. She loved to golf with her buddies and walked the 9 holes until she was well into her 80's. She also loved a cold beer after the round. She had to give up golfing at 90 because she complained she was shooting in the low 50's due to her arthritis and she didn't want to go out playing like that. I didn't tell her that if I shot in the low 50's it was a pretty good game for me. My birthday wish tonight will be to try to stay as healthy as my Grandma and really enjoy the next years of my life.
12/21 - 143.5 - There's the piece of chocolate ganache cake and the extra glass of wine. It's all good.
