The Snake Diet concentrates on extended fasts (24-48+ hours) while drinking "snake juice" (sodium and potassium mixed in water). Cole Robinson (the creator of the Snake Diet) gets results. Check out his Instagram page:

If you can get through about 10-20 minutes of his rants on YouTube, there's a good chance you'll come around and actually like him. He has a huge following and people are savings thousands of dollars by getting off their meds and not eating. Basically, if your body has a copious amount of fat on it, you don't need to eat. You have plenty of energy to sustain normal daily activity. If you feel like crap when fasting, it's withdrawals and/or the body adjusting to use more body fat for energy; or you need to get in more electrolytes. Fasting for 36-72 hours will cause almost anyone to get into ketosis.
Before jumping the gun on something that isn't mainstream, it's wise to do some research and see what it's all about instead of blindly following some doctors (who don't get much training in med school) who obviously don't know anything autophagy (the holy grail of fasting).
So since I shouldn't take the word of doctors (who don't get much training), what are Robinson's credentials? Where are links to research proving his claims?
Believe it or not, most of us have done a TON of research, and we routinely argue that doctors are not the best source for nutrition. Regardless, I see no reason to "get through" 20 minutes of some jerk yelling fatty at me. There is ample evidence out there, and thousands of success stories here, that show it is unnecessary to go the drastic route to lose weight, unless you have an immediate morbidity that requires taking some risks.
Autophagy is fascinating, but the science is really new and limited, and already not quite consistent. If I'm going to get on board with an emerging possible new science, it's not going to be with this awful jerk. He has "gimmick" written all over him. If the science is there, I doubt he's the one who is getting it right. There are legitimate research scientists out there studying autophagy, I'm going to let them do their thing and go from there.1 -
