Arthritic feet and treadmill walking

Hi, I have very bad arthritic feet and can't wear sneakers. I can only wear moccasins without pain. Is it ok to use the treadmill barefooted?

If it's your own treadmill by all means, gyms may frown on it. Don't be too surprised if you build up callouses on your feet from the rough surface on the treadmill mat.1

You might consider something like these:

Might make it less likely that anyone gives yo a hard time.
I use the Arc Trainer that doesn't have the arm movements instead of the treadmill. It's easier on the joints.1
