Should we over 60s get "gassed" during exericise?
Today I actually got "gassed" during my resistance training. The last time I got "gassed" was 2 years ago when I foolishly tried to play full court pickup basktetball with some 35 year old GOOD local guys who play regularly. It was embarrassing. For me.
I try and exercise 30 min per day 7 days per week. I use "zones" that I measure with my chest band and an app called Polar Beat. RED (>90% MHR). YELLOW (>80%). GREEN (>70%). BLUE (>60%). WHITE (resting zone).
So 2 days of resistance (yellow). 2 days of cardio (green) and 3 days of yoga (blue).
Normally when I lift weights my heart rate goes deep into the red zone and beyond. I don't start the next set until I'm back in the green zone. That takes me 40 min.
Today I tried to shave some time and I did. I finished in 35 min. But my average was 92% MHR. I started the next set while my HR was still in the yellow zone.
