Happy Friday ladies!
For some reason with MFP is unstable on my laptop and kicks me out. Still haven't resolved the javascript problem. Just imagine a "like" or "hug" on all of your posts
Janetr[/b] - I like what I'm hearing about your new doctor. Mine dresses like she's going on a hike with cargo pants and knit tops. DH's doc in the same clinic generally wears a nice shirt and pants. I don't think they own white lab coats, lol. The nurses wear cute smocks tho.

MFP has been unstable like that on my computer at home, my computer at work and my phone. But I just click Log In at the top and it logs me right in without entering name and pw or anything.
I think white lab coats are a thing of the past.

Glad you found out about Scooter early enough to do something.
Janet - I think that is an awesome NSV, I have a few friends that had surgery and have gained it and more back. You are doing well.
Machka - hope you get some rest this weekend. Wouldn’t that be a lovely place to do it in!

The "form email" is how I've been notified I haven't got the job for the last decade at least ... since I've been in Australia. It's not even a personal email. But before that it was the form letter.
And yes, I am taking a rest weekend!

Trish – lovely flowers. I really like that vase, did she give it to you?
Rita – wow!!!!

Allie, hugs. So sorry about your brother.
Rebecca if I were an owner looking for a renter, I would want you. You post pictures of making your house a warm place. The energy projected would make me so happy you lived and loved in my home. Good luck, a house on a hill with sky and space sounds wonderful.

Oh thank you Betsy! I hope they choose us! Here is what West Beach looks like and the "Strand."
One pic is looking right where you can see the strand. The other pic is looking left, seeing the hill, our home ( to be), is on.

Ok one pic is the Olympic mountains we can see. The other is some old lady in pigtails! Haahaa! I declared it Pigtails Day!

Hi Everyone, just started back with MFP after being gone a while - this group looks awesome, and I have a feeling lots of you can relate to my experiences! I was caregiver to my mom almost full time (I'm 53) for over six years. Pair that with being a stress eater and woo-hoo! All the weight I'd lost last time I was on MFP came back on with interest when things got tough. Mom is now in a memory care facility (and hates every minute of it, but she doesn't realize/see she's ill), and I'm currently a new graduate from college trying to re-enter the workforce (complete with the loan debt! ). I decided I was tired of all this extra weight I've been hauling around, and how it is making everything hurt from my waist down, plus had the shock that absolutely NONE of my old work wardrobe fits anymore. I'm currently at 224, my goal is 155 by Christmas, with a focus on getting back muscle tone and avoiding knee replacement surgery.
So, If anyone here has tips for getting out of the stress eating habit while being kind to your knees, and for avoiding the general funk that happens after a visit to see mom (yay guilt!) I'd love the input and support. No family besides a daughter that lives out of state. If this isn't a good group for me, I'm okay with it, just please let me know ahead of time so I don't drag ya'll into things! I probably will not post much about it anyway - just wanted to let you all know in case I have to vent and not eat!
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone better - those mountains are beautiful!

Hi everyone!
This is my first time posting to any community or thread. I have always been the one to “go it alone”, and I find I have lost my drive going it alone as of late.... So, my quote I use is “Today is a new day” so here I am doing something “new” for me.... looking to find friends and support for the battle of the bulge....
I live in Oregon with my husband of 20+ years who loves to feed me... and our 4 toy poodles (spoiled kids)... I realize when reading a lot of posts and threads that I don’t have a ton of weight to lose, so I often feel out of place, but I do need/want to drop 35 pounds. Well, now 30. I started on March 18th at 152.8 pounds and want to be back to my 118 pounds from 5 years ago... as of this morning I am at 145.
I have severe fibromyalgia and it causes me a lot of problems and pain and although I try to push through, most times it pushes me right back. Especially this time of year when the weather is a yo-yo!
Would love to be on this journey with some others where we can chat, rant, whine and cheer one another whether losing 1 pound or 100 or simply making lifestyle changes to our diets - we all have a similar goal and that is to make a positive change in ourselves!
The word for March = Empowered

Luana and Nancy, you've both come to the right place! This is a thread with no judgement, some ladies are already at goal and just trying to maintain, some are wanting to lose lots, some not quite so much, very diverse group, but very chatty and supportive! If you need to rant, instead of stress eating, rant away! You can put it in the form of a spoiler, hopefully I will tell you the right way to do it, click on the paragraph at the top and a spoiler choice will drop down. Then we can read it or not, and you've got it off your chest!
Hope everyone else is having/has had a great day! Weather here is warming up again, I do kind of wish we would get some rain, tho, the forests are VERY dry, does not bode well for the summer, again....
Anyway, time for bed for me. Hugs to those needing them, congrats to those celebrating (Rita, you look great!) and welcome to the newbies!

Rita - Great work! Looking good!
Welcome Luana and Nancy! :flowerforyou: We try to stay off religion and politics, but venting about your life and frustrations is a good thing. I have yet to work out the spoiler thing, but I think it is a great idea.

Welcome Luana and Nancy
Rebecca lovely pic of the mountains, now that is what you call a view! (and cute pigtails lol)
Michele love the ceramic bugs bunny.
Rita you look amazing, you can see the difference in the four months. Congratulations.
Our clocks move forward tonight for British Summer Time, it is Mother’s Day here tomorrow and also my birthday. Think I might visit my sister in law in Shipley, apparently she’s feeling a bit down, (her mum no longer with us) it might help to distract her for a few hours. You never know, we might be able to get her out of the house if it’s a nice sunny day.
Had a lovely dog walk yesterday, the weather was warm and it was very quiet and peaceful, hardly anyone about, not sure where we will go when they let the sheep out to roam. We don’t trust Leah not to chase sheep, we’ve never had to worry about this before, our other dogs didn’t bother with the them, but Leah wants to chase everything that moves. It will be hard to find somewhere where we can let her off the lead for a good run.
Well better go and see how dad is, he slept most of the morning yesterday.
Take care and love to all
Love

Liana and Nancy: Welcome to our eclectic group of wonderful gals. You will find great support here.
Rebecca: Love the views, and the pigtails. Fingers (and toes) crossed for you. You would be such a good tenant.
Rita: WOW! Great progress.
Machka: Your pictures are making me want to go out and look for a new bike. My current one has a high bar and I have difficulty getting on and off it.
Our spring weather has been continuing, and I have been getting outside to walk. Yesterday I worked on prep on our veg beds, and mowed the lawn while hubster trimmed the edges. I love the smell of new mown grass. The garden pond is heaving with tiny tadpoles at the minute and my bulbs are in full bloom. It's great to be able to cut fresh flowers for the table again.
I'm crocheting a couple of light cardigans for my holiday in Croatia in May. One of them (YouTube video -The Drops Cardigan) I started some time ago, but it wasn't working out so I re-designed it, and it will be finished in good time. The other is using squares, so will be fairly simple. I'm also powering on with my patchwork quilt. It's so much quicker now that I have the new sewing machine (which purrs like pussycat as opposed to the juddering clatter of my elderly Singer, circa 1950s).
I will be celebrating Mothering Sunday with my family tomorrow. It's a double celebration because my elder grandson is 22 tomorrow. He lives in Belfast but goes home every Sunday for his dinner, so we see him on our weekly visit.
My darling granddaughter is coming home on Wed 3 April for a long weekend, as she has other plans for Easter. We will have another family get together either on Thursday or Saturday of next week.
It's 10.30am here and I haven't had breakfast yet. Some raspberries with vanilla yoghurt are calling my name from the kitchen.
Sending positive vibes to those who need them. Well, to everyone, really.
Have a stellar weekend. These are some pictures from my walk in the walled garden at Bangor Castle on Thursday afternoon.

wow Rita you look great in both pics! Congrats on the loss
Beth carrot top pesto, I'm impressed, did it taste good? I'm curious to try this recipe.
Barbie as I was raking and clearing a section of my yard, I uncovered crocuses, beautiful. I know you appreciate those flowers after all that planting, what a rewarding reminder every day, that spring is truly here.
Welcome new folks, we are a chatty group, read along and comment whenever you feel like it.
DH and I are off to visit MIL today and will try to get in some errands before, and yard work after. The back yard is going to have to be handled one small section at a time, today the side garden is the goal.

We've come to a favourite part of Tasmania for a couple days. It's peaceful and quiet here ... and the cycling is great!
Today we relaxed for the early part of the day, then wandered around the farm a little bit, and then went for a ride. After we got back, we zipped into the nearby city to pay our usual visit to Zambreros and Cold Rock. Now a relaxing evening ...

Good morning all! Happy Saturday! I have the weekend off (yea!) and a to do list a mile long (boo!). But it is spring and part of that is to get outside and get a little work done in the yard; so all is good.
Karen NY- How fun! I always loved it when my daughter would bring a carload of friends home on weekends and always on Thanksgiving break from college! The kids were always kind and gracious and my DD (like yours) would have the time planned going places, hiking, pub crawls, etc. If they planned to do a pub crawl, DH and I would be their chauffeurs and drop and pick up. I still stay in touch with quite a few of them.
Vicki- I enjoy company; yet feel a little anxious over my home. I just keep telling myself; my house will NEVER be "house beautiful" but it will always be "house comfortable". I think most people understand that and are very gracious. My brother and sister in law stopped over recently and we went into the living room so that I could show them how I set up the shelving and furniture that we inherited from my MIL after she passed. My SIL commented that it was the first time she ever sat in our living room. !!! lol They live three miles away and stop by about every other week to chat. We never get past the kitchen! I guess because the kitchen was the hub of my family growing up and it is where pretty much all visiting and talking is done at my house!
Beth- Carrot top pesto! Saved it! Going to try it! Thank you for sharing!
Barbie-The early bloomers are starting to appear here, as well! I took the kids for a walk yesterday, and they were very excited that the buds were out on the forsythia bushes! I was surprised they remembered the word "forsythia" and remembered the color and meaning of them blooming! I mean, I mention it on nearly every walk in the spring and summer, but they are only 3 and 4 year olds, and it has been over six months since the bushes were even green!
Terri- Fabulous garden pictures! My daycare kids would go CRAZY over those lovely pyramid shaped trees! They love to find shapes in nature.
Luana- Welcome! I think you will find about half the women on this thread are at or within 10-20 lbs of their goal weight. Many are maintaining and come here to enjoy the community our little group provides. I try to read posts each morning, and it is like having coffee with good friends! Catching up on eachother's lives, what is working for everyone, providing an ear to those who are struggling with "life"...we all know how mental health is such an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Come often!
Nancy- Hello and Welcome! Please read what I wrote to Luana ^! Also know that I will be 53 this year, and need to lose about 94 lbs to get to my goal weight. I am currently at 236. Many of the ladies on here have been full time caregivers for family/aging parents. I work more than full time (childcare provider with kids in my house from 6am-10pm, M-Sunday) and until recently (my mother in law just passed away earlier this month) have spent my time off with aging in laws and transferring my MIL from home to assisted living due to health issues and dementia. Not an easy process and the stress is real. Due to my weight, I also have ankle and knee pain. For myself, I try to get a walk in in the morning, while my joints are rested and less painful. I have found also that a few easy stretches help to loosen up the stiff ankles in the morning help me get through my day. IF you have access to a local pool; that is a great way to build your cardiovascular system and build some muscle AND no stress on knees and ankles! Almost all pools have flotation belts/boards for you to use, if you just want to do "leg" laps or gentle movements. Welcome again! Pop in often, ask questions, give advice, log everything! YOU/WE CAN DO THIS!
Time marches on...have to jump in the shower and then get the shopping done! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)
