I lost 10lb pretty easily. But ive started swimming athe last two weeks and my weight loss is slower, could this because im gaining muscle?

when you start a new exercise (or increase from previous levels) your muscles may retain water to work on repairing themselves. which can cause slow down (or stop) on the).

Also, weight loss is not linear. there will be weeks it's slower or non existant, weeks it goes faster. it's not a straight line.

Also swimming makes you hungry (scientifically proven more so than other exercise but they can’t really figure out why) so you may be over-estimating your calorie burn, and underestimating your intake - thus eroding your deficit.

Make sure you record swimming as the light/moderate effort unless you’re a masters swimmer doing 3k an hour or something, and only record the duration you’re actually swimming, not the whole time you were at the pool or indeed the whole time you were in the water. I imagine you will have rests like most people in between efforts.

I do a 1hr coached triathlon swim training session and it’s not unusual for all the rests to add up to 10-20 minutes! So 1hr swimming actually becomes just 40-50 minutes and that’s in a tough coached class designed to push you with minimal rest periods. I know this as I use a Garmin to record my swimming, drills & rests.

I wear a swim tag which records my lengths, i dont include my exercise in my calories unless its a weekend lol, i have dropped a trouser size so dont think this is the case but will bear it in mind, thankyou

doubtful. more likely to be from the water weight, or normal slow down of weight loss as you get smaller.

Same happened to me, but I have a very small amount to lose (want to lose 15 total). I had no weight change for about two and a half months, then i slowly started losing again. I didn't change anything in my exercise routine or eating habits, not sure what broke the plateau in the end.
