Non Scale Victories

Just starting my weight loss journey at 320 lbs, 58 yrs old. Two bad hips, one bad right knee, COPD, and last year moving to a very hot climate and not having air conditioning for the first few months found me laying in my bed all day long which resulted in gaining weight and losing A LOT of muscle, to the point where it was difficult just making it to the bathroom. Two weeks ago I started my weight loss and exercise journey and there's no turning back.
Since I don't yet have scales all my victories at this point are NSV
Yesterday's NSV was doing 30 minutes of exercise and sticking to my weight loss plan.6 -
Welcome to the Larger Losers group!...we are a supportive and friendly group....join in any conversation, comments are always welcome....it sounds like you have made up your mind to lose some weight!...it’s not always easy but the results are so worth it!....1

@BethWallace1 you have come to the right place to get some support ! Welcome ! Do you have a tape measure ? If so take your measurements if you haven't already that way even without a scale you can still see your progress in inches as the months go by ! (Our walmart here has tape measures in the sewing dept for around and even under $2 sometimes)
Can't wait for you to jump right in ! Weight loss begins in the kitchen the more eating habits you can change to healthy ones the better!2 -
For the first time ever, my husband and I were able to cuddle up laying on the couch together!
We were both on our sides, my husband behind me with his chest up against my back, and I was in front on the outside/edge of the couch, and we both fit and snuggled like that for about two hours while watching Netflix!
It was so nice7 -
I got a walk in yesterday! lol Beautiful weather, warmer, though I should have taken a pair of gloves because my fingers were froze by the time I got back - warm when I left, but as that sun went down, the temps rapidly dropped. Probably won't get one in today, but hopefully tomorrow and Friday as well. I need those walks!4

Glad you were able to get out and about...we sure miss your newsy and helpful posts!2 -
Now that lockdown has eased up a bit, I borrowed my son's car today and picked up some "new" (for me) clothes from Value Village (a used goods store) and a few things I found on Facebook Marketplace.
Some 3/4 length sleeve light summer blouses - because I have nothing for this summer that fits and I'm thinking I want to cover up these upper arms for awhile. And they look pretty good. Don't notice the wings whatsover!
Even better, the summer bottoms - long shorts and some lighter jeans - I bought thinking they would fit come summer - actually fit now! A bit snug, but they fit.
A year ago I was wearing size 24 jeans. Zipping up size 10 pants absolutely floored me.6 -

I am glad you were able to find some new clothes...I put on some capris this morning that are hanging on me like a sack...the p.j.s I wore last night were sliding off my hips this morning and I had to tie my sneakers tighter...I never knew losing weight could be such a pain in the *kitten*!...but believe me, I will take it any day over stuffing myself in too tight clothes!....I really need to buy some clothes but I keep thinking I will wait until I lose a few more pounds!...4 -

It is a wonderful problem to have isn't it?! I found one woman on Marketplace who lost weight and quickly regained it - intentionally she said, because she felt bad at her new low weight!. It all happened so quickly that she barely wore some of the new clothes she bought. She is now wearing sizes that I recently "outgrew" (love that!)...so we did a bit of a trade. I really feel like I walked away with the better deal - the clothes I picked up from her yesterday were like new and mostly fit perfectly! I guess it worked well for both of us. We both have clothes that fit and spent virtually no money.
And - I can imagine this person becoming a friend once this craziness is over. We even have the same name and spell it the same way and I discovered that she had knee surgery last year by the same surgeon I had the year before!6 -
I wish wish wish I had those problems! Good job ladies! I can’t wait to post a NSV soon..hoping to go down atleast one size in pants but I haven’t lost much inches even with a 30lb loss😒6

You might be surprised at how quickly that happens, though!
I was like you. I used to be a size 26/28 in jeans, and I had lost 50 pounds and still comfortably fit in my 26/28 jeans. Was kinda disappointed that I hadn't really lost inches yet.
Then suddenly, it was like it all caught up to me. I lost another 40 pounds, and the inches seemed to melt off. I'm now in size 22/24 jeans, but the 24 are honestly starting to get almost way too loose on me, so, I might be able to start attempting 20s here soon.2 -

And I started in 22Ws, and went pretty quick down to 16 straight and lost 50 pounds in the process. Now I'm plateaued, but I'm moving more so I hope that things unstick soon.

That's Awesome ! Way to go ! I can't wait till we can comfortably do that !1 -
So my latest NSV is a few days ago I was taking a shower and decided it was time to shave the legs again ... now I always do it standing but I usually put the leg I'm shaving up on the edge of the tub because I can't comfortably bend over to shave.... I was 3/4 of the way done shaving the first leg when I realized I was standing flat on the bottom of the tub ! I was so happy ! That hasn't happened in so long I can't even remember ! I still have a long way to go but days like that are so encouraging!9

I used to wear a size 28 pants, about two years ago...yesterday I had some dress pants on that I thought were 18/20.... I looked at the tag and they were 16/18.... I was really happy!....and surprised!...I don’t remember buying the pants!10

Boyfriend walked behind me when we were at the home improvement store, and he thinks I've lost weight in the hips and butt. Just by the way my clothes are fitting I think he's right, though it would be nice to see it on the scale too.5

When I sit in my theatre chair in the Theatre Room... And recline, I can actually pull my belly up from between my legs with ease and put my feet up together on the foot rest. (Who would of thunk it!)
Soon my stomach "Sag" will have risen enough to clear the steering wheel without touching. It's been odd though, as in the beginning i was pretty pinned behind the steering wheel. And even thoguh I've been shedding weight quickly, and things have slackened up behind the wheel (it turns pretty freely now). I find that the mass that would be pressing hard between my legs and thighs as been shrinking but rising at the same time, maintaining that contact with the wheel. In fact at some point the contact got even stronger.
It's beginning to weaken again though, soon I suspect I'll even have a gap. Hell yeah!6 -
My NSV is I was able to do the crunches at Barre class last night. When a month ago I struggled to do 1 crunch.3

I got a walk in yesterday! Beautiful evening, even if it did cloud over.
I'm not going to get one in today, unfortunately - too much going on. Church tonight plus I need to get to town during my lunch break because I want to make an angel food cake for mom's birthday dinner tonight and realized I don't have any swerve powdered sugar....2
