It feels like learning to ride a bike

I just realized the feeling that I have when I can run for longer periods of time. I imagine that it's the same feeling that people get when they learn how to ride a bike, when their parents let go and they're pedaling on their own. I can't remember how I felt when I learned how to ride a bike as a kid. But, I imagine that it was the same as when I look at my phone and realize, "OMG, I've been running for more than 10 seconds without dying." I smile and get all happy and enjoy that run. So, is that how you guys feel when you realize during your run that you've accomplished something new?

Yeah. It is. Sometimes it's a little out-of-body, like "who IS this person who is running with my feet?"

I'm just amazed that it took me this long to learn how to run. I'll be 35 in a couple of weeks, so it is high time to feel a new kind of movement. Now week 1 feels very far away somehow, but I still can't say that I really know *how to* run. I catch myself thinking "Is this me? How am I doing this?" sometimes.

It's never too late. Now, that you know how to run, maybe you'll get out and be active more and possibly extend your life since exercise supposedly extends life (I Googled it and only "saw" (chose to see) the reports supporting it).

Before C25K I never thought I'd be able to run, never mind over 3miles without stopping. It makes me wonder why, when I was at school, our PE teachers didn't try to show us rather than just accepting some kids sprint, some can do distance, some sit on the sides? Ok, when I was at school it was a looooooong time ago and we didn't have apps or podcasts but surely the fundamentals of learning to run further would have been the same?

Kind of makes me sad in a way that I've missed this great form of exercise all these years!

^^^ Yes! This!!! Why is it a PUNISHMENT for other sports? Why was there no coaching? I mean, ANY kid can go out and run if they know how. And there's an obesity epidemic...

Of course, now there are programs like "Girls on the Run"
