Hi, friends not new but want to try something new. My cousin told me she is trying the Keto diet. Does anyone have any comments on this diet?

If you’re planning on doing keto, research, research and research more.

It has specific macros and food restrictions. There is also the keto flu to consider.

Really think about why you are choosing keto. You want to choose a way of eating that is a true lifestyle change. It also must be sustainable. I did not go with keto for that specific reason. Its not sustainable for me.

If you haven’t already, read the stickies at the top of the getting started forum. Very informative and educational.

Buy a food scale. Weigh everything you eat and log into the food diary.

    Good luck with your journey!

Hi, I’ve been keto for 2 1/2 years....919 days according to MFP ☺️ At first, I didn’t know what the heck I was doing but I read a LOT, googled keto recipes & have had great results.

Keep your food choices simple. Real food...eggs, cheese, lean meats & lots of fish. Avoid heavily processed food. Go full fat plain Greek yogurt, HWC for coffee or tea.

In the beginning, stay away from bulletproof coffee or fat Bombs. You want to keep your fat macro on the lower end because you want to burn YOUR body fat, not the fat you’re eating. Once you’re at the maintenance stage, you can add back good fats.

Use this link to find your daily macro/calorie limits (calories do matter!) https://ketowatt.com/okl-chart/

This is a great food list resource. Screen capture it! https://www.ketogenic-diet-resource.com/low-carb-food-list.html

There are lots of good keto websites & blogs. https://www.everydayhealth.com/ketogenic-diet/living-with/blogs-keep-you-motivated-when-all-you-want-carb-fest/

It might be difficult at first because of suger cravings but stick with it & before you know, you will have a major energy boost, you will sleep better & your mood changes. Use MFP every day to keep track of what you’re eating. It really does help. And drink lots of water!

Add me if you like. I don’t post a lot on my page but I am here at least once a day.

Long post...sorry about that ☺️ Good Luck!

@alannabanana75 That’s the best keto advice and information I’ve seen on mfp. Well done. 👏
