This is day three of major back pain and in order to medicate every three hours for some pain relief, I had to give up on intermittent fasting and my calorie goal was more like 1200 to 1500 the last couple days instead of 900 for loss. Plus only about 4000 steps a day. Thus the increase. Today it's a little better going to try to medicate less so I can meet a calorie goal of 1200 or less but steps are still going to be limited.
02/10 164 lbs Back is better but not great. around 1200 calories but only got 5500 steps in. Managed IF for 16 hours. Going to force the walking even with the shooting pain down my leg. I have babied it all weekend and it has made no difference. This is so discouraging. Obviously if I can't move than I can't eat.
02/11162.8 lbs I didn't medicate and calories were 808. Steps 12,800. Enough of this gaining business. Back is allowing more mobility, doesn't like sitting, so I worked on sandwiching my grandson's quilt together. Thankful our table is at bar height table so not much bending. I am going to work on hand quilting it as long as my back can take it.
02/12 161.8 lbs Calories 1005, steps 9,500. Back is still pinching, I am going to be so out of shape. But I did work 30 minutes on the quilt top than 15 minutes I had to move and than come back. So glad I have a project to work on. Or I would just be shoveling in the comfort food.
02/13 160.6 lbs Calories 707, steps 11,000 Back remains unchanged. At least this not being able to stay in one spot for long is getting in my steps, I just wish I could actually stride out and walk for a distance.

02/07 - 170.9 Boys went to bed an hour later than normal and I didn't have the motivation after to go to the gym unfortunately.
02/08 - 170.0 Gathered the motivation to go to the gym even after a long day of training at work. The scale messed around in the 169's before settling at 170 even. Finger's crossed I break into the 160's tomorrow!
02/09 - 170.6 Well, I let myself cheat a little too much yesterday. I'm surprised this is all the gain I had since yesterday. I'll probably see the consequences of last night on my scale tomorrow too ...

2/8: 147.0 (-.6): This will change. I ate well but had my weekend cocktails. My dang right hip is not improving and after running very slowly for 3 miles, limped the rest of the day. I’m sure it’s a temp injury but finally decided to deal with it – going to Airrosti on Monday. In the meantime, I will walk, do my strength circuit, cycle, row…..whatever to keep burning. Weekends are tough for me 😏
2/9: 147.2 (+.2) Walked 7 miles. Hello advil. 🙄
2/10: 146.4 (-.8) Think this is just eating under my cals. Had a very lazy day after my long walk – low energy. Hoping to work through hip issues and get back to my normal exercise regime. 😎
2/11: 146.6 (+.2) It’s going to be a non normal week as I work through my hip injury. Went to Airrosti – painful deep tissue work, but hope it will break up the tightness and get me back on the trail sooner. So I can’t run till this weekend. I will just compensate in the gym and try to eat a little less.🤐
2/12: 145.8 (-.8) Surprised I am down. Didn’t eat terrible yesterday but it wasn’t great – relied on protein drinks (plant based) to get my protein. I am not doing great at the macro tracking. Just trying to focus on calories and exercise. But the macros is where your food choices come home to roost. I need to get back into cooking. 🙄
2/13: 144.8 (-1.0) Hahaha….nice number but its just that. A number. I chalk it up to not planning well and not eating much after my first meal at noon because I had to leave for a cooking class at 4 pm, which lasted from 6-9 pm. I had planned to bring a protein drink and bar but forgot them. So I ate late when I got home, some chicken, olives. I was well under my daily calorie needs. But this is not a good thing as I am in the corner of, eat what you your body needs after a workout to build muscle. The class was fun – Truffles!!! Picture to follow….🥰
2/14: 145.0 (+.2) Here comes the creep….But that’s cool. Need to eat good food and keep moving, and I will get there. And I am working on strength so I expect to have ups and downs due to changes in body fat and lean muscle, ultimately. Tonight, DH is making me dinner so I will chillax and enjoy! 02/07: 278.1 lbs (+1.3) … expected an uptick here as I had lost about 5lb over the past couple days. Still not too bad.
02/08: 279.9 lbs (+1.8) … another expected uptick. Had a nice date night and was perfectly within budget, but then my wife and I decided we’d play drunken video games together so I wound up having another 5 beers late into the evening. Whatever this is is temporary and should fall off within the next couple days. Sometimes you just have to live a little
While I’ve set 274.8 as a goal for this round (I always choose my goal to be 2 lb less), I’ll be completely happy if I end around my round start weight… since last round ended with a dramatic drop in weight.
02/09: 278.9 lbs (-1.0) … down a bit. Planning on eating pretty light today, which should help me drop some more.
02/10: 279.6 lbs (+0.7) … hrm. Cooperate already, body. Despite eating really light yesterday and staying fairly active doing housework, I still wound up with a gain on the scale. Oh well. Still very happy about the inches I’ve dropped around my waist over the past week and a half.
02/11: 278.3 lbs (-1.3) … this is what I want to see. More of this. I was finally able to replace my defective VR headset (been out of commision since Thanksgiving!) and got back to one workout that I love -- Beat Saber. Played a couple hours last night.
02/12: 277.3 lbs (-1.0) … Three hours of VR last night no doubt made this drop possible. Played another 2 hours of Beat Saber and one of Superhot VR. Finally beat the latter. It was pretty challenging. Wound up with about 14,000 steps between walking and moving all over the living room while playing in VR.

02/13: 278.2 lbs (+0.9) … Up a little. I had planned to get in some more VR activity last night, but I wound up feeling so tired that I went to bed early instead. I probably wouldn’t have eaten as much as I did if I had foreseen that. Oh well. Still got in a 2.5 mile walk yesterday afternoon and about a half hour of Beat Saber.
02/14: 278.7 lbs (+0.5) … 3 miles walking yesterday and about 2 hours of low intensity VR yesterday. I’m guessing this uptick is sodium-related, as I think yesterday was particularly sodium heavy. Happy Valentine’s Day, all.

69 years old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion...
...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.
We used to walk 5 miles a day. A pinched nerve and back surgery side-lined me for about a year. Then I had back surgery. Now I'm waiting to get my hip fixed. Hip Doc said surgery in April. Ugh! I can't do any walking or biking...both kill me. I see my personal trainer three times a week. She is taking it very slow and easy with me.
I have March 10th as my hip surgery date...much better than April!

2/10 126.0 Ahhh the weekend bloat. It’ll be gone in a few days, no fear. Back to my regular eating and work out plan today, I always slack off on the weekends.
2/11 124.6 Good day yesterday, under goal and got my lunch workout in, same plan for today. Lots of stress at home, my husband has a back injury and I’ve basically become his caretaker, along with caring for our 4 year old, taking care of the house, doing all the cooking and working full time… it’s taken a lot of will power to not say screw it and just eat my emotions/frustrations. He has an MRI tomorrow, hopefully we will find out the results quickly and get a plan to help him, he is miserable (and so am I.) If he is feeling up to it we might have a family dinner out tonight, which will bump me up tomorrow, but will be worth it to get out of the house and not have to cook.
2/12 124.4 Thrilled to see a tiny loss after a restaurant meal. I did manage to stay under calories yesterday, but I know sodium levels would be way up after the meal. Must not have been too bad though. Managed to drag my butt to the gym at 6am, since I have to skip my lunch work out today.
2/13 125.0 Boo. Just a regular fluctuation, had a good day yesterday.. under calorie goal, worked out and got lots of water. Onward we go.
2/14 124.6 Back down. Taking it easy today, gonna skip my lunch work out, no pre-planned dinner, just gonna go with the flow tonight. Still happily in my maintenance. looking to go a bit lower though. Final weigh-in Sunday will be up for sure, as we have a belated Valentine's date Saturday night.

02/07 - 371.6 - No change from yesterday. Slow and steady. I've lost almost 17 lbs. in the 4 weeks since starting this *Give me 10 days* challenge.
02/08 - 372.1 - A slight uptick, prolly from a little cheat day. Mom wanted a donut, so I bought one for myself. Put me very close to my caloric goal.
02/09 - 375.0 - Huge gain. I had an urge for pizza and cheesey bread. And ate most of it. If I start going down again over the next few days, I'm fine with the occasional splurge. If not, I may have to rethink the idea of a cheat day... at least to this degree.
02/10 - 373.8 - Coming back down after a really bad eating weekend. It's ok as long as it only happens very seldom.
02/11 - 372.8 - I'm staying with my initial thoughts that the occasional cheat day is ok, especially if it slows down a weight loss that is too rapid.
02/12 - 370.8 - Back to the downward trend. I might still make my goal to get under 370 before this round.
02/13 - 371.6 - I thought yesterday's drop was a bit much. So a 2-day drop of 1.2 seems more realistic. I'm good!

2/7 161.1 5 miles I almost cried looking at the scale this morning. I was under on calories and not particularly high on sodium. I can only guess that I might be retaining water from my weight lifting the night before and 5 miles yesterday. Staying positive is very challenging these days. I am happy that I'm more than 10% of my walking goal for the year. That's good news. I tried on a size 12 pair of jeans yesterday - that's good news considering I was in a 20 when I started. That's good news. The 14s are a little loose so I'm not losing pounds but something is happening.
2/8 160.9 0 miles Too cold and rainy to walk last night.
2/9 160.5 4 miles Tried to hike but the trail was too muddy. I went back to the car after a mile, changed shoes and got in another 3 on a paved trail. The park where I was has both rugged and paved trails. It's a local favorite. A little far from my house but I was glad I was there.
2/10 160.1 6 miles The 2nd longest walk yesterday. It was misting a little when I started but it cleared up before my hat got soaked. My map failed me, I had only planned on walking four and by the time I got back to the car I was at 5.5 and felt good so I did another half loop around the lake. My legs were tired when I was done but I felt great.
2/11 159.4 0 miles Took yesterday off from walking. I'll get in at least 3 this afternoon depending on the weather. It's supposed to snow tomorrow so I will go to the gym then. Happy to be down a little. I would love to end the round in the 150s.
2/12 159.5 0 miles I changed cable/internet providers and as is typical in these things it did not go smoothly. I couldn't leave to take my walk because they were there for HOURS. The last company took out the old cable and it had to be rewired to the house. I did do some serious house cleaning and turned on my counter so I got some credit. It's snowing like crazy now. I'd love to go walk in the woods before it gets deep but instead, I'm sitting at my desk doing bank stuff (I mean when I'm done posting this

02/07 …..192.1 ….. I am starting my new plan today. I will closely monitor my glucose readings to see how it affects me. I watching also to see what happens with my tummy. So far this morning, it feels like taking my brain out and turning it completely backwards. Logging will be extra important so I can figure all this out. This experiment will likely be temporary. In the end, I don’t think it is what is normally best for me overall. Just what I need right now in regards to several medical issues. Good luck everyone this round!
02/08 …..192.0 ….. My gluclose numbers have been running too high (which is what my medication normally treats as high glucose has been my main problem over the years). Probably because of the carb increase. But it doesn’t cause the sickness and panic eating that the lows do. I will continue with my experiment and see what happens. I am just not used to considering the calories as much so it’s a brain swicheroo thing but I’ll get it. I know lower carb is better for my glucose so I am going to experiment on eating fewer calories but higher carb. The best way to explain is maybe less actual Keto and more low or thoughtful carb intake (low glycemic vs high glycemic etc). I don’t yet know what the numbers will be. Under 50 carbs? Under 100 Carbs? I’m going to try to tweak this thing for sure. If I see any persistent dangerous levels, I will make immediate necessary changes. Let’s see how this continues to go.
02/09 …..193.0 ….. Pizza. But too much. This experiment is finding me able to eat whatever I want pretty much, or so it seems at first. Then, I find it’s the quantities I must watch closer than I usually have to. So it's not quite as easy as I thought. I don’t know if I’m equipped for this mindset. It just makes me feel like I’ve thrown diet right out the window, until it doesn't make me feel that way at all! Still a restriction, but of a different kind. I suppose that whole and healthy is always the way to go, regardless of which plan you choose. Then, I forgot to test my blood sugar this morning so I lost the opportunity to see how badly pizza affects it. One thing for certain, no sugar drops in sight. I’ve got to worry now about it going too far north instead of south. I travel tomorrow out of town with brother for his test results. Likely a restaurant. I will not turn it into a binge day!
02/10 …..193.1 ….. I call this a normal fluctuation this morning. Traveled today and became a human vacuum cleaner. I really don’t even know at this point what my calories should be with this experiment I am on. The same as before? A bit more? I just don’t know. I am consistently hitting in the 1500’s which normally puts me over. I think this is for the birds. I’m rethinking but still nervous about my glucose. I guess I’ll just have to sleep on it. All in all, I honestly don't know is its such a bad idea, I just don't think I'm ready for such a major transition. I dunno. Gotta lot to think about still yet.
02/11 …..194.8 ….. Still a weight gain after travel & restaurants but overeating is overeating on any plan. School is finally reopened today. It has been closed since after session on the 3rd. closed to massive student and staff illness with the flu. So It has been over a week since I could do my normal walking. It is so hard to gauge my experiment when most of my exercise has come to a halt. Northern Michigan has been gripped with this flu. I was sick most of last week myself and though everything including our government offices were shut down over it, I still am not sure if it was flu or body organ pain. I swear it felt more like pancreatitis or gall bladder. I’m still trying to use my fats more as a lever and give my gall bladder a break! I have a new idea for today. We’ll see how it pans out. In the meantime, my morning fast glucose numbers are THROUGH THE ROOF. First too low, then too high. There has got to be a happy medium in there somewhere! I’m going to follow through for another few days with the new ideas & information I’m acquiring. If it doesn’t get any better, I’m back to my low-carb basics! The next few days should be little (to no) traveling and more walking again. This will give me a better picture with my normal exercise and movement routine back in place. Quilting Jaine Your tip to drink plenty of water when traveling as it will flush but also require you to stop more often and MOVE, is so insightful. The VERY BEST thing about this particular challenge is the insights people have and share. Sometimes someone can just see things from an angle I hadn’t seen or thought of. I always travel with my hot black coffee, that helps a bit, but the water is even better (and healthier). From now on, I bring both! I am ALWAYS, ALWAYS low on my water intake when I travel. NO MORE! 02/12 …..194.6 ….. A little better but still over calories. Tweaking but without much faith. Walked at the school yesterday during DGS #1 tutoring. Walked 83 minutes burning 516 extra calories. I burned 2746 Calories total for the day which is more than I ate I walked 7.3 Miles total for the day which was 17,243 Total Steps. 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 4 hours & 25 minutes but woke up refreshed. I am still not getting in my water. Staying busy and not thinking of it like I should. I’m a mess really but I’m going to see this through.
02/13 …..194.2….. Another smaller number on the scale. I’ve been monitoring my glucose numbers and they are still too high but gradually going down as I tweak my carbs. My last 5 morning fasting numbers including today’s are: 279, 259, 235, 217, 207. As I reduce my carbs my numbers get better, however, going too low causes the dangerous sugar drops I was experiencing after I got out of whack (after Christmas). Last night, I changed up my final meal after closing out so my carbs & cals were a bit higher than expected (I finished a leftover). Numbers as follows: 1526 Calories In / 2647 Calories Out. 87 Net Carbs. 13,868 Total Steps & 5.87 Total Miles. 11/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 6 hours & 8 minutes and felt pretty good. I walked for 73 minutes at a very brisk pace for me and burned 597 extra calories. We shall see how further reductions in carbs & calories work for me at this stage. I am counting on the scale and the glucose readings to help me make the right changes. Obviously, my carbs need to go down more.
02/14 …..194.2 ….. No change on the scale but I’m not surprised because it was movie night with my son. I spent the evening making memories with him that belong to he and I only. One’s I hope he will never forget. My calories were good but my carbs still higher than I’d hoped but that is not surprising for movie night. My glucose was 203 this morning. Still dropping slightly but I have a long way to go. Doing it slowly as my body adjusts. Today I hope to keep it a little more low carb but it’s Valentine’s Day and anything can happen! Yesterday’s stats: 1646 Calories In / 2305 Calories Out (I ate back some of my exercise calories). 107 Net Carbs. 13,011 Total Steps & 5.51 Total Miles. 11/13 Fitbit Step Hours and I slept 5 hours & 4 minutes. I walked the school halls for 75 minutes burning 437 calories. A lot of interruptions at the school yesterday so it was a little more stop & go than I liked. Less speed & burn. 2/7 – 259.2 I almost used my bounce up from last round as an excuse to overeat yesterday since it was my husband’s birthday. Instead I stuck to the plan that he and I had made and instead of the bounce I thought would come I had a loss. I’m so happy and very proud of myself for sticking to my plan. Hopefully this is finally the last of the 60s and I’ll see new lows this round.
2/8 – 259.0 I had a great day yesterday. My husband and I went out to eat and I stayed well within my plan. Plus we sat at this tiny booth, which was very nice. After that I went to get my haircut at a local spa. The hair salon is on the second floor and with the help of my cane I climbed the stairs and wasn’t winded. Last we bought some girl scout cookies and so far, I haven’t had even a single one. Though it doesn’t hurt that my husband has hidden them from me.
2/9 – 256.4 I was not expecting that, but I will gleefully take it. I’m going to hope for no to minimal bounce up from my body going wait I wanted some of that water.
2/10 – 256.4 I’m glad I didn’t see a bounce up today. Hopefully downward will be the trend for the rest of the round. I did find the thin mints yesterday, but I kept myself to only two of them with my lunch. My very helpful husband discovered that they were left out of the cabinet and ate the rest of the sleeve for me. Apparently, he also ate all the lemon ups, and the tagalongs by himself just so that I couldn’t be tempted by them, or so he claims. On the plus side there are no more girl scout cookies left in the house to tempt me.
2/11 – 256.6 I had a high carb and sodium day yesterday so I’m glad the bounce is minimal. My husband was annoyed and puzzled that he was up this morning. I reminded him gently that cookies eaten for someone else still count.
2/12 – 255.8 I managed two outside walks yesterday, one of them with my son, but he got a little too cold, so we cut it short. I’ve come to really enjoy the walks I get outside, especially the ones with my husband, they have been one of the biggest nsvs of my weight loss. I cannot wait for the weather to be nice enough for me to be outside nearly daily.
2/13 – 255.8 Apparently the pattern of this round is drop hold, drop hold. Still better than gains though.
2/14 – 257.0 One word, pizza. It’s okay though I knew this whole weekend would be odd and my weight would bounce around. Today I’m baking cookies with the kids and have a sensible dinner out planned. I just have to stay on plan and I should see the water start to go after the weekend.
