Changing Goals

Quite frequently when it comes to health and fitness people of all shapes and sizes will change goals whether that is to lose weight after trying to gain weight (bulking/cutting) or trying to run a 10k.

This is something that I am doing as of today with trying to lose the excess fat from bulking up over the past 6 months & am going to share some pointers of what and what not to do if you are doing something similar

Firstly whether you are starting out on your fitness journey or making a change from years of experience, don't change too much too quickly. If you change a calorie goal by a huge amount or try intermittent fasting with a large fasting period it can be such a shock to the system your body almost rejects the idea and after a few days you end up moving back towards your previous routine. The way to do it is slowly creep down to your goal over a couple weeks to allow your body and mind to adjust to your new routine.

Along with changing goals too quickly, don't change everything in one go. Again similar to my previous point changing so many things in one go can be overwhelming and makes everything hard to judge if what you have changed has worked or what is working and what isn't, change one thing a week and it will allow you time to adjust to your new goals. At the start of a big change being in your comfort zone is very important

Finally, be honest. When changing things it is very easy to cut corners back to your previous routine or not putting maximum effort in. We do this as it is new and maybe uncomfortable for us at first so it is easy to slip if only occasionally, even if it may seem infrequent or unimportant it makes a difference to your end results and that will cloud your opinion of how effective your new goal is.

Hope this helps :)
