So I haven't been feeling the best and with everything shutting down except for my job (which I am still grateful to be receiving my paycheck, believe me about that) I was just feeling super blah. I've also been sick the last couple of days and this pounding headache is just not leaving me alone along with a bunch of other things. My scale has also been ticking upwards the last couple of days as well which has just made the headache worse, but bless my period tracker telling me I'm due in less than a week. I always bloat up in the days before and the beginning days so I'm trying to let that go right now. It still bears watching however. Bloating is one thing, but weight creep is another.
I'm also trying to pick out one or two pieces of gear for home workouts to help me out. While preliminary everything is only closed until the end of the month or the middle of next month, it's entirely possible that they will extend for several weeks yet. With my focus on upper body, I do need some sort of dumbbells and mine are just getting a bit too light to be super useful right now, so I'm doing some light research on different brands. I think I know which one I'm going to get, now the only question is, is if I want to spend all that money right now.4 -
@WynterDreaming Our child called me last night saying “momma, I’m so glad I’m not there with grandma right now..I wouldn’t want to harm her in any way”. We both cried..and with that..my hubby and I will not be going to the gym anymore. I found this information on body weight exercises we are gonna start to do along with our walks/bike rides.

It is amazing how just being at home and eating clean can change your whole world around. Loving the dance parties at home with DD (darling Daughter) My husband has been working from home for 2 years and we home school so nothing in my world has changes too much. But we are working out together since my husband's work out group is cancelled for the time being. In my daughter's science unit she is studying nutrition, so everything is becoming a family project. Not matter always look at the positive.8

Hi everyone! With everything in the world so topsy turvy, I feel determined to control the only thing I can, by eating healthy and exercising! Today I sneezed in public and felt awful about it! (I suffer from allergies so sneezing is normal for me and the pollen count is high at the moment!) I've washed my hands so many times they are dry and burning! My mom is elderly and living in an old age complex and they have asked us to stop visiting, very difficult because she is still recovering from a broken hip, and I've been doing her shopping etc!9

@sharpdust Hang in there. I had a good 1st day of this and yesterday started okay but bogged down. I am hoping to turn it around today.
@bluffgirl67 Guess what! We are having beautiful weather here in the Pacific Northwest. We need something to help the otherwise gloomy picture. Nice to see your post today.
@Terytha Oh no. We couldn’t get frozen spinach yesterday. I love spinach. But we got everything else. Glad to see the update. I am grateful for those working at the stores now.
@CupcakeCrusoe I am glad you will be working at home. It is ironic I got everything set up for doing that and we shut down completely. I now have a second large screen just for reading email and posting on MFP. I guess it was nice for the movie I watched last night.
@speyerj Your post brought up a few stories for me I will impart below. I think that it is hard but the way the world is going it will be good in the end for your husband to develop these new online teaching skills. I know that my daughter doesn’t learn as well online as she does in class. She will start her last quarter of classes this spring. She has just Capstone (Senior project or practicum) to go after that.
@ericak6722 Sorry to hear about your migraines. To friend request click on someone’s name under their picture. A window will pop up. Then click on their name in blue next to their picture and it takes you to their profile. There is a big green button next to their picture that says Add As Friend. Click that to add them. I sent a request. It is probably harder to do on a phone though. What a nice picture you have.
Here are 2 stories from working at home that @speyerj brought to mind. The 1st and only day I worked from home I logged into my work email and my coworker had sent an email that the office was so quiet. She was the only one there. One coworker was sick and his daughter was sick too. Others were working in the field then from home. My boss was working at home for just that day. Another co-worker who was over 60 was also working then at home. I thought it probably was as safe for her in the office as it was for us.
The other story was the day after the office shut down. We had a text on the storm line and an official email late in the afternoon the day before. I am not sure why but I decided to check email at work even though it was the 1st day of the shut down. Another co-worker was there sending out an e-mail asking where everyone was. His supervisor fortunately saw it and told him to go home. He had missed 3 separate notices about the shut down.
These are weird times. Yesterday wasn't as good as the day before for me. It started it off well but I lost direction mid stream. What I did do was I had decided to look up a word document I had worked on years ago for an at home weight training and exercise plan. I found it and tweeked it for now. I added some weight training exercises and found pictures to remind me how to do them right. I added stretches. One of the things I like about Aquafit is that stretching is better in the pool. I even found exercises and stretches you can do on your bed. I didn't do any cooking cleaning or exercise yesterday though. We had leftovers so that was fine. I need to schedule my days and follow it. I know I started to do that but I also needed some down time to process all the changes and I need to think about my priorities for this time. There is a lot I could do but what is the most important focus for this time besides keeping my family and others safe? It isn't like it is a vacation. If I had figured it all out yesterday I don't think it would have bothered me that I hadn't done those other things.
I will let you know if I figure it all out today.6 -
I think we may have a house. That is, if it passes the home inspector. Not falling in love with it yet just in case. I'm feeling very grumpy with everyone and everything. I'm not letting it out, but I'm feeling it all the same. I miss the gym a lot.11

I found a way for my workouts to sync. You need another app 🤦♀️ it's the under armor map my walk app. I sncyed it with both Samsung health and MFP. It's a little bit of a hassle, but it worked!5

Goals: let's say we get to a solid 195 this month. We'll start there and see where it goes.
Non-weight goals: continue logging everything in grams, work on getting sodium intake beneath 2000mg each day, continue getting at least 100g protein each day.
Sodium: lol, nope
Protein: not as much this week as I'd like.
Fitness goals: lift more than 3x this month (lol) ▌▌_ _
Running: let's go for 25 miles. It's not about the distance, it's about the form. Get the form right.
Running: ▌▌▌▌▌▌▌▌▌▌▌▌▌▌ ▌ ▌ ▌▌ ▌ ▌ ▌ ▌ ▌_ _ _ _
I have been kind of estimating calories quite a few times this week, so I'm happy with this loss.
Time to continue teleworking. Tonight is Movie Night, with pizza and popcorn. My four year old is very excited. Stay safe and well, everyone.9 -
💜Hi, ladies!
I know things are super stressful and scary everywhere right now and places are closing and supplies may be scarce.
Here in Korea, we're coming up to Week 5 of corona virus. Schools are still closed and will probably be for another week. Lots of people are still telecommuting. But people are starting to go out again and gyms and movie theaters have reopened.
If I can share anything about this thing, it's to be calm and make smart decisions. Don't go out if you don't have to, avoid large groups (and small ones) whenever possible, and wash your hands All The Time (regular soap is fine).
My eating habits and exercise routines have NOT stood up most days to the social isolation and stress. And you know what, that's okay. Don't beat yourself up about the next couple of months. Get through it as best you can. If working out at home is how you cope, do it! If you need to binge watch a couple series a week on Netflix, do it! If you can find that balance, great. If you can't, that is 100% okay, too.Our goal this month and next is to stay safe and sane. We can do this.

@nels5850 glad you found a work around. I have an additional APP I use too since my weight varies so much. I enter my weight in daily and I can see it in graph mode and see the downward trend. Great Friday weigh-in
@Cupcake Crusoe I will do another check in today with you since I had a tiny by significant loss. You are so close to your weekly goal. I like how you are tracking macros. Enjoy your movie night!
@RavenStCloud It was nice to see your post. Thanks for the information on Korea. If we had been testing more that may have been our future. It sounds like you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Take care and stay safe.
Today I made a small milestone. I finally used MFPs check-in after about 2 years. I only log losses on MFP since I vary so much and I weigh daily. I am finally lighter than I was in 2018 by .4 lbs. I think like @nels5850 I feel this group is part of my progress. I was struggling until I found it.
I moderated an active group on here for quite a while but most had stopped posting after a good run. It had been a successful thread and I think making it a group killed it slowly. I missed the support. It was for those older who had a significant amount to lose. There are some added issues once you get over a certain age. I tried to find a group or thread on MFP to give me the same support. It wasn’t until the fall that I found this thread. I was really struggling then and didn’t post as much. But in January I rejoined and tried to really post at least once a week despite being so busy. I actually turned it around just before Christmas as my weight chart shows me now. Late December I was reading posts on this thread but had been too busy earlier in the month to join in.
The other thing is that my highs are much lower as well. I am not popping up a few pounds after a loss like I was before. You can see that my loss is actually getting steeper in the past month. March is my birthday month but I agree this has been a hard month. However all of this actually started at the beginning of the year and is only now hitting most of us to differing degrees. However I think due to my birthday I refused to give in to March being so bad. I am trying to take advantage of the time I have. I am playing a little too much free cell but I am doing a few things each day to be happy about. We used to have a Friday breakfast treat so since I was doing so well with my weekday breakfasts I went and got it for me and my daughter. It was all drive thru take out and I took appropriate precautions. It was so nice just being out of the house. We have taken a few walks but they have been after dinner.
It really is beautiful here in Seattle now and people are getting outside and enjoying it.6 -
My daughter just taught me how to print screen on my phone. It helps to have a computer science and software engineering student at home.6

Okay this is for you @BrownSugar174 and any other pandemic times readers.
This is what I am reading now.

Hi everyone,
Glad to see that this group is alive and well! March has been tougher than expected up here in Vancouver, but after a little distracted period, I’m happy to be back with you all.
I started the month at 205 and have been going up and down. Started trying to catch up on the thread yesterday (gave up) but finally made it past 204 to 203.8, so maybe there’s hope for 200 by the end of the month?
Big hugs,
Madeleine9 -
I have to admit, I derive a certain pleasure in knowing that in these chaotic and anxious times, I at least have control over what I put in my mouth.
And I am still losing. More recomping than losing pounds at this point, but I know I'll have another lurch downward again.7 -

Today was a beautiful spring day I was happy to leave the hospital and went to the park for my lunch break and a walk. The park is very large so you can go to the lest crowded areas. I am sorry to hear about the hard times some of us is having at this time, what is working for me is reading more listening to Smooth Jazz radio at our work station and at home and rocking to the oldies, limit my television viewing to morning and evening news for at least one hour.
@keiA thanks for your kind words, we all need the support of each other to gets us thru these uncertain time.
Everyone stay safe and healthy and have a great weekend.8 -

My appetite continues to be affected by the uncertainty of everything right now. I just started my period yesterday and still feel a bit bloated, but my weight plummeted by over 3 lbs in the past week. I'm trying to stay healthy and eat well, drink Emergen-C daily, and get long walks in with my pup still. That was a bit tougher the past couple of days with the heavy spring snow storm we got.
It has been a challenging week - for everyone. Just have to focus on "baby steps". I keep thinking about that movie "What About Bob" with Bill Murray. Good for a laugh and I kind of feel like him now whenever I leave the house, which isn't too often!
I am supposed to return to work this coming Monday, but with how quickly everything changes, I imagine that we could be under a shelter in place order by then, or end up getting sent home early again on Monday like we did this past Monday, which kind of feels like a lifetime ago at this point.
Anyway, I'm rambling. My brain is having a difficult time focusing lately. I hope all of you continue to stay safe and healthy out there! We will get through this!!10 -
Hey everyone!
@RavenStCloud thanks for the update on Korea. I'm so happy things are getting closer to being normal for you. Sadly I fear the fate in the US is not going to be as good. During the start of the outbreak, our federal government completely squandered the opportunity and told everyone it would blow over. There is still no testing where I live and hospitals have already run out of supplies due to people hoarding stuff like masks and gloves. Korea really set an example for how this should be handled! Anyway, I don't mean to be all doom and gloom. Your advice is good about just chilling out at home and avoiding gatherings.
@KeriA I read that book- it's a good one! And how nice to have a computer savvy kid home with you during this time.
@Tarzan37 it sounds like you've found a good routine and that you are keeping your outlook positive. My appetite is all over the place, too. I know what you mean about last Monday seeming like a lifetime ago! Last Monday, we had only just decided to cancel our spring break trip. Now it seems insane we were ever thinking about a spring break trip.
As for me, I've been coping with the stress by eating, so I haven't stepped on the scale. I've got to find other outlets. It's part stress, and part being stuck at home next to my kitchen. I haven't weighed myself in a few days. Time is seeming to stand still. Our governor is maybe going to announce some stricter policies on Monday. I'm a little nervous because when I went to the grocery store on Thursday, they were sold out of so much stuff. I am feeling a bit anxious about getting enough food, for the first time that I can remember. I live in a rural place and there aren't options for grocery delivery. I actually looked on Amazon and they are sold out of everything like dried beans. I'm one of the people who hasn't been hoarding or panic buying- and now I am realizing maybe I should have been since everyone else bought up everything. Our capitalistic society really is showing it's cracks.
on the bright side- I am so lucky to be where I am. We have a 14 acre horse farm that backs up to wilderness and lots of room to spread out. I can just go out of my door and hike in the forest without having to see anyone. There is lots to do if the weather holds, like tend to my flower garden, teach my kids how to ride (we just got a welsh pony a few months ago), and do farm stuff like fix fences. As long as we can still get supplies, we should be OK.
I'm also lucky enough to have a treadmill, which a friend had given me a few months back when she moved away. So in the absence of gyms I can still get workouts in. I feel guilty writing all of this knowing so many others have it worse.
Maybe this is a good time for me to get my act together and lose a few pounds? I commit to logging and making that a reality!
Hope you are all holding up ok.8
