quiltingjaine wrote: »I spent a fair amount of time last night arguing via text with our daughters-mine about 10 miles away and 1200 miles away and my neighbor’s who lives in Anchorage. A 5 way chat about groceries! Neighbor has multiple health issues and did an order for pick up at Walmart to be ready today. My husband wants to do his own grocery shopping- I tried to do online but there was no pick up date available! I think my daughter or one of the grands is going shopping for us but I am totally stressed out by my husband’s attitude. I think he looks at it as losing his independence (he’s 71) but it’s only a temporary measure!
I’m sending prayers for all of my MFP friends and acquaintances! I love you all and want you to be safe!
It is a stressful time....sorry that your going through all of this. I went to our local store yesterday at 7:30 for an 8 am opening time. I was like 20 people back in line. The line got progressively longer from there. I went early just to try to avoid huge crowds of people. I felt bad for some of the elderly folks in their 80s....they looked stressed. An idea is being floated to let older folks shop for the first hour so that they are less exposed. I hope that takes hold.
Thankfully I only needed a few items so I was in and out pretty fast.
Good luck!!!4 -

3/8 — nw
Here we are, a brand new round. Enjoy your Sunday, all!
3/9 — nw
It’s warmed way up around here so I took a nice longish walk yesterday and plan another this afternoon. I also need to pull some weds from my garden this afternoon — better to get them now! Wishing you all a lovely week!
3/10 - nw
Boy, I hate it when I write a nice post and then hit “done” instead of “post.” Enjoy your day!
3/11 - nw
I indulged a bit yesterday. I’d been craving chocolate cake for more than a week, so I baked a single-layer double chocolate cake and glazed it with dark chocolate. It’s so rich, a tiny bit did the trick! I took half to my neighbor and there’s a piece left for DH. And I’m satisfied!
3/12 - 179
Okay, that’s good.
3/13 - nw
I was a bit mopey yesterday about all the cancellations, including a class I was scheduled to teach next week on “Planting for Pollinators” and a couple of writing classes I have planned for late spring/summer, but this morning I’m feeling perkier and have decided it’s a good time to launch the online classes I’ve thought of teaching for a couple of years. So I’ve started that process and feel much more focused and less snacky. Stay healthy, everyone!
3/14
Hard to believe, but 28 years ago today I married my best friend. It’s been a ride, and he’s loved me through thick and thin and weird eating in between!
3/15 - nw
Quiet day at home today. Enjoy your Sunday, everyone!
3/16 - nw
Not sure I want to weigh in tomorrow.
3/17 - 180
Okie dokie — at least I didn’t gain while not tracking. Considering I indulged on and for a couple days after our anniversary/pi day, I’m happy. Onward!

I can do it Jaine, @quiltingjaine if Jackie hasn't by tonight.

Could we just carry on and add the days?
It's crazy times we live in and people are being so selfish with all this hoarding and bulk buying. I just despair of humanity sometimes !!!3 -

Sorry sorry, thanks for offering!
I was going to create one yesterday but it totally slipped my mind. My husband and I decided to take a drive to the beach to get away. I’m sure most of you know Washington State is almost closing down, So a lot of adjustments plus my daughter is getting deployed the second week of April for 6 months.
Tonight, I’m heading to my daughters till Friday to watch my grandkids.
@quiltingjaine, honey I sooooo soooo about your husband, sending good vibes your way.
Be safe everyone!10 -

200 Days - Total Lost So Far: 28.3 lbs!!!!
Female - Age: 31 - Height 5'11"
SW: 216
CW: 187.7
CGW: 185.7
UGW: 150
03/08 - 187.6! Didn't lose as much as I wanted to last challenge, hoping this is a better round. Did a good job of sticking to my diet, did some exercise and chores but not as much as I would have wanted because I had a bad migraine for most of the day. Hoping for better days ahead
03/09 - 187.2! The scale said 186 for a second and my heart stopped! So close to the 30 lb mark. Still psyched when it settled on 187.2, hoping to make the best of this to maintain my momentum. Trying to get lots of work done today while making time to exercise and sticking to my diet today. Didn't sleep very well last night so also hoping to get in bed earlier today.
03/10 - 186.6! I'm walking on sunshine todayHoping to maintain this progress through the rest of the challenge and beyond. Going to work hard to stick to my food goals and not let myself backslide like I have done for the past few weeks whenever I've started seeing progress. Onwards!
03/11 - 185.8!! Wow! Feeling pure gleeI normally wouldn't post this early in the day but I couldn't wait because I'm so excited to say that I've now lost 30 lbs!!!! Going to stick to my diet, get lots of work done today and hopefully make time to get to the gym. Going to try and ride this wave of joy into a good and productive day!
03/12 - 184.8. Kind of shocked, was not expecting to drop weight so quickly. I started to not trust the scale, since I've been plateauing for months, so I checked in the guest bathroom scale and it said 184.2 sooo I guess it's not a total fluke. Hopefully this is healthy and sustainable weight loss, I imagine I won't lose more for this challenge cycle which is fine by me. Even though I want to lose weight quickly and hit my goals, I also want to do so in a way that is healthy and maintainable. I want to be consistently losing 2 lbs a challenge. But I guess as long as I'm hitting my calorie needs, I'll just see what happens
03/13 - 188... huh?
03/14 - 187, confused with all this flux but maybe it's water retention from stress, idk
03/15 - 185
03/16 - 186.4
03/17 - 185.2! Very happy with this ending, even though it's probably a fluke considering all the weird fluxes I've had the past few days. Was tracking food and weight, but wasn't good at updating on here after the halfway mark. I will try to rectify that for the new challenge! I hope to hit 183 which will be my halfway pointfingers crossed! Onwards and downwards

❤ Thanks Jackie!❤ @GrandmaJackie I'm glad to hear that you and Hubby got a chance to get away. I hope you both were able to relax. It's such a stressful time. A prayer will be said for your daughter's safety and your peace of mind. {{{Hugs}}}4

69 years old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion...
...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.
We used to walk 5 miles a day. A pinched nerve and back surgery side-lined me for about a year. Then I had back surgery. Now I'm waiting to get my hip fixed. Hip Doc said surgery in April. Ugh! I can't do any walking or biking...both kill me. I see my personal trainer three times a week. She is taking it very slow and easy with me.
I have March 10th as my hip surgery date...much better than April!

03/08: 173.2 New Low!
03/09: 173.7 My new low didn't last very long LOL. It's my husband's fault ha! He made soft pretzels. Just kidding - I asked him to make them BUT I didn't have to eat two!I could be up just from a normal fluctuation when I'm settling into a new weight but most likely too many carbs/salt. Since my calories were only 1250 and 670 were pretzels, it didn't leave much room for eating healthy food
. I rowed too so shouldn't add any 'real' weight and should be down again in a few days IF I keep my paws off the pretzels.
03/10: DNW - Could not bring myself to weigh today - too many carbs/salt. I did walk, and drank lots of water. I had 1303 calories but, again, can't be happy about that since pretzels were half of that and took away from good healthy calories. When I feel in control, I fool myself into thinking I can control myself with sugar/white flour, thus asking my husband to make soft pretzels (oh, no worries, I can just eat 1/2 of one - wrong!) I did stop myself from an all-out binge the past 2 days and that IS a NSV. They're all gone now, thank goodness! Stocked back up on vegies, fruit and chicken so looking forward to a good healthy day!
03/11 - 173.5 - much better day yesterday all the way around
03/12 - 173.4
03/13 - 173.4 Trying to get back to my 'new low' from 3/8 or even better would be a new 'new low'

03/16 - 173.3
03/17 - 173.2 - down -0.7 for the round. I hope to be more focused the next 10 days.
Short-Term Goal: Back into the 160's!
Long-Term Goal: Don't wear sweat pants or ANY pants with elastic for an entire year! I don't even know what a belt is any more!

03/14 165.4lbs, 1,028 Calories, 12 Carbs, 8 Net Carbs, 9,296 steps. Good day. Still have my running nose but no fever. They have closed schools here so Grandkids will be coming to our home. We live on a farm so if the weather would be nice there is lots for them to do. Unfortunately it snowed today and they are calling for rain on Tuesday. My husband might have to move some machinery so they can play basketball in the machine shad.
All will work out.
03/15 164.6 lbs, 🤗
It took 14 days to get back to this weight after my vacation. My mistake was not trying to stick to my diet on vacation. Learned how easy it is to gain weight if you don’t stick to your plan. Saying that I do believe most of it was water. When you up your carbs the water weight comes back 1st.
03/16 164.6 1,041 Calories, 15 Carbs, 12 Net Carbs, and 3,431 steps. Today is a sad day for me. Last day to visit my mom at the nursing home. No visitors until further notice. I have to say and agree it’s one of the best ways to keep her safe. The virus is officially here in our community. To everyone stay safe and be caring citizens to all.

It was a nice days. I worked on the yard and helped my husband pick up trash along our roadsides. You can’t imagine how Much people throw out stuff in the country. On to round 108.

Day/Weight/Comment
03/07 …..200.1….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
03/08 …..201.0 ….. The exact correct food, the exact wrong quantity. I worked up quite an appetite cleaning out the shed next door. More boxes to go through today. Also I was booked out last night in the cabins so I am going to clean 75% of them today and the rest tomorrow so I can finish the shed project and stay caught up on the cabin laundry. An unusually beautiful day here. However, I don’t think I have been quite this tired in YEARS. Clock change really got me.
03/09 …..200.2 ….. Sunday is tourist cabin cleaning day. I did 75% of them and it’s laundry. The other 25% will be done today. School closed so no walking. Temps better outside but still too much ice so I didn’t risk it, especially when I already fell pretty hard last week. (no lasting injuries, thank Goodness). Worked on shed cleaning and burning again also. Grabbed at convenient food all day but have some pretty good and healthy choices in the house so not a total disaster. Overall, 71 Carbs & 1261 calories. I slept well last night but not enough water. I’ll work on that today. I’m getting in lots of steps & miles and good calorie burn so I just need to tighten my belt another notch.
03/10 …..199.8 ….. I thought I would have a HUGE WHOOSHING drop today because I really did great yesterday. But no TMI probably didn’t help. There is such conflicting information on whether “what time” you eat your meals makes a difference or if calories are just calories in a 24 hour period, no matter what. I’m curious because I read a lot of posts in many challenges about late meals. My last meal of the day is always about 2:00 A.M. I am usually asleep by 4:00 A.M. and get in the 4.5 to 5.5 hour range of sleep per night. My last meal is planned on purpose now to keep my blood sugars level (stop the severe drops) and to also prevent binge eating triggered by hunger. Yesterday I walked over 21,000 steps, over 9 miles, burned over 3200 calories. I ate 1383 calories and 32 carbs with both being in my perfect range. All of it was healthy food. My water intake was over 65 oz. Come on Whoosh! Any thoughts, anyone, on the timing of our meals?
03/11 …..199.8 ….. The drops in weight are leveling off apparently. Today I have taken a self-imposed rest day from practically everything. I am working hard at maintaining my diet but doing very little movement/exercise or work. I just need a mental break from all the “projects”. I hope the rest of the night goes as well as it has today in regards to my food plan. I’m just tired.
03/12 …..199.8 ….. 3 days running on the weight but all is well. Staying on course with eating plan. No walking or major exercise yesterday. A much lower step count but accomplished a few things at home, though I seriously tried not to be responsible for much of anything. I just needed some rest from responsibility to EVERYTHING. I’m afraid it was constantly interrupted and so I don’t feel I got what I needed, but I’ll try again another day. It’s hard to both live and work at home (my home sits on the same property as my motel and cabins that rent nightly). Staying the course.
03/13 …..200.2 ….. A small indiscretion leads to a gain as easy as 1+1=2. It doesn’t take a genius to figure this out, but sometimes I’m just downright stupid! I am totally bummed about the news last night that all the schools are closed. There goes my walking! I’m keeping fingers crossed for good weather soon, but for the past five years it has snowed into April and May (with a few nicer days here and there). Last April our biggest snow was 10” overnight. If it weren’t for all my kids and grandkids living here I would be somewhere else! I stuck to diet yesterday except for one cupcake. I walked at the school (not knowing it would be the last time for awhile!). I’m going to try to stay positive and not let this news derail me or my plans. Stay strong Donna. Stay strong!
03/14 …..199.9 ….. Yesterday was an okay day. Diet plan on the higher end of acceptable so the scale did okay today but probably could have been better. I missed walking. My son’s weigh in was great! He is down another 3 pounds. Go Johnny!
03/15 …..200.1 ….. Besides our schools, all of our city and government offices have also closed including our secretary of state, court systems etc. So far the banks are open but I’m not sure how long that will last. I am trying very hard not to stress eat, just like everyone else I suppose. In Michigan, this is getting pretty serious as far as our state government declarations and the panic/hoarding that is going on. Full grocery stores have already closed due to lack of food. No diapers can be found for my grandbabies, and that is going out of town to different towns since we are in the rural areas. No meat available within 150 miles of me according to my own family and friends. No burger, no chicken etc. My one daughter was able to buy some big turkey legs and a little pork. This will be the first time in decades that there will be no corned beef for St. Patty's day in our homes. There are no known cases up in my area yet, but people are definitely panicking. Stay safe everyone. Food is already becoming scarce here unless you stocked up in time. Unlike most folks who live in these small cabin homes in my area, I do have a stand-up freezer in my garage with some stocked up meat. I should be okay for a bit. Let’s all do the best we can to stay healthy and eat the best we can.
03/16 …..200.7 ….. If we can get any food at all in northern Michigan we are lucky. No bread, milk, eggs, cheese, condiments, beef, chicken, TP, tissue, napkins, paper towels, kitty litter, larger size 4 & up baby diapers. No noodles or pasta of ANY kind, canned soup, canned veggies, frozen veggies, and thousands of other items. I stay fairly stocked up but I really need my distilled water for my bi-pap machine. I have went/called every large box store within 150 miles-zilch. No laundry soap, brillo pads, windex, alcohol, purell, -the list goes on and on. Stressed about home, but about business too. You can’t rent cabins and rooms without proper cleaning supplies AND TOILET PAPER. My stock will only last so long. They have also closed all our restaurants in the state, only drive-thru and carry out/delivery (no delivery services in my area). . I just feel bad for everyone trying to cancel their weddings since it’s been requested by the governor that all gatherings 50 people or more be cancelled. Well, I guess we are all in this together. Stay safe everyone! Please remember to help those you love and to share with ALL that are in need. Many of us may be called upon.
03/17 …..200.4 ….. Close to breaking even, but didn’t make it! @quiltingjaine thanks for your kind words to us all. @tiabirdie56 Keto is impossible without the right foods available, so I like your idea of making some changes but continuing as best as you can. I have a couple of Walmart (no Costco) within 200 miles of me but if they are out of eggs, cheese, meat, oil, etc while I’m there, I’m out of luck and that is exactly what is happening here. Now they have told us to cancel any social events that have more than 10 people attending. Also gyms (I don’t have one within 75 miles anyway), spas, bars, etc. It has been reported here in Michigan that schools will probably not go back in session this school year (drats! That is where I walk!). The schools are giving away small milk cartons, juice, muffins, crustless sandwiches to anyone in need. Childcare has become an issue for those who are allowed to work since kids are out of school. I think all 50 states are experiencing about the same restrictions, if not, they will be soon. 18 months AT LEAST for a vaccination due to clinical trials??? Yikes. On a good note, my local grocery store (we only have one) had a truck in this morning and I was able to get 2 gallons of distilled water for my bi-pap machine. I am worried for everyone who already struggles in this life. I will be okay. Will everyone else? Praying…..Praying.

On general self-isolation. Went shopping today in our local convenience store. Some shortages, but I got what I wanted. I always have a food store of dry foods, and we have stuff in the freezer. Northern Ireland has some supermarkets opening first 2 hours for over us 70s, so that will help the situation.
Take care everyone. 💕💖💕General goal is to maintain below 150, and trend slowly downward to 145.Never give up! Never give in!
The downward trend is a bit slow for my liking, but at least it's is still downward.
Looking forward:
- March: I need to focus on getting back to where I was pre-Christmas
- 2020: Goal is to stabilise weight around 145
- Strengthen strategies to reframe the tendency to use unhealthy snack food as a reward/treat.
- Make sure I have prepared healthy snacks available
- Cut down on eating between meals
Back Story:2018:2020
My goal was to get down below 160, to allow me to enjoy the indulgences of holidays and celebrations.
2019:
I exceeded that and have been below 150 for most of the last 2 months.
In 2018, I put on 10 lbs over the last 2 months of the year.
In 2019, I consistently lost weight since the end of July. I put on about 4lbs over the Christmas break, but was still below my original 2019 goal.
That's a WIN in my book!
Focus: maintenance! I might even manage to lose a bit more ever so slowly.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

03/08 186.2 👇 (-0.6)back after a break. A little disheartening that im essentially the same place i left off but hopefully i can get things moving again.
03/09 187.4 👆 (+ 1.2) well thats the wrong direction! Probably normal TOM fluctuation.
03/10 186 👇 (-1.4) I hope this is the beginning of a drop. I've been faithfully working out, eating Keto (slightly lower fat/sodium/cholesterol keto as per a dr) and even watching calories and I seem to be well within range to lose 1.5 lbs per week but it hasn't been budging. So I'm thinking maybe I'm not as consistent as I believe and am hoping this challenge will keep me on track.
03/11 185 👇 (-1.0) ok I know a number on a scale shouldn't affect my mood so much (because it WILL go up and down) but I am PUMPED that things are falling. Had a weigh in at my metabolic dr yesterday and hes concerned I had stalled for awhile. Has started talking about meds (which I would like to avoid if possible). We agreed to give it a month and see where things are going. Thing is that my diet and workouts have been on point for 2/3 weeks and I was hoping to start seeing movement (it usually takes that long for me). So I *think* its begun and I really really want to stick with it this time.
03/12 184.6 👇 (-0.4) 👍👍
03/13 184.6 (0.0) Well no change is better than down!
03/14 183.8 👇 (-0.8) Super excited that I hit round goal already although I got looking at my month of data (I've been pretty on point with diet and exercise for 3 weeks) and exactly one month ago I weighed in at yesterday's weight so... maybe it's all water fluctuation?? I guess the next few days/weeks will tell me.
03/15 DNW
03/16 185 (1.2) An unsurprising bounce. Hopefully will fall again.
03/17 186 (1). Really? Up again?? Ugh.
