Karen Thanks so much for your appreciation and the welcome to the group. That means a lot more to me than you can imagine. I found this site and then this group by accident. So far the best ever and everyone's conduct is heartwarming.
Kelly No, not me on the knitting! I knitted a bustier crop top (bottom met jeans band) a few years ago (my first attempt at knitting) and it came out too small but I was wearing it anyway when my best friend came over with her granddaughters (teenagers) (my fake grandnieces) and they promptly without hesitation said, "NO NO auntie take that off right now before you embarrass yourself." It fit one of them perfectly and looked great. The other wanted me to knit her one and I declined as my interest in knitting was vanishing quick and in a hurry.
SuzieQ You sound a lot like me. I was raised on a mountain ranch and as an only child became fiercely independent. I did all the jobs from laundry, house cleaning, running swathers, backhoes, branding and castrating cattle, delivering calves, you name it. The words, "That is a boy's job never left my lips." In my early 20's I moved to the remote mountains and built myself a log and frame cabin and lived off the grid for a few years. One winter the snow was so deep I didn't see another human for 3 months. I always had 6 months supply of food and necessities and a year's supply of firewood I cut, split, and stacked myself. I worked summers on construction jobs mainly as an equipment operator and explosives specialist. I always had a backpack with survival necessities and ready to evacuate. I was evacuated 4 times in 12 years because of forest fires. Many laugh at me for my preparedness, but I gave away a lot of TP and still have enough left for me during the recent madness. I still lay my clothes out by my bed and I can dress in seconds. I am not running out in the street dressed in only thin night shorts. I have been independent, prepared, and stubborn with my ways all my life and see no reason to change now. I am alarmed that knowing trouble is coming this fall, that very few are preparing. There is a difference in preparing and hoarding.
Lanette That old Brother sounds awesome. I worked with a bootmaker for a couple of months making my own boots and those old heavy machines are amazing. I also worked for an outfit sewing pack packs, tents, and such for a short time. Those old industrial machines won't ever wear out. I love sewing except for repetitious projects or production work.
Very sorry if I missed replying to anyone. My vision is still haywire. My dental implant is less achy so my disposition is changing for the better. 112 degrees F predicted for here today. Oh no, I have forgot my walk. I best shake a leg.... later

Katla - Sorry about Schooner's diagnosis, enjoy him as long as you can
Karen - I saw a pattern this weekend that I want to put on a shirt for my Granddaughter. When I saw Olivia's little pose I thought she could use the shirt too. It is a little saying that says, "I'm not always sassy, sometimes I sleep."
Michele - When I try to delete parts of the conversation out when on my phone, I end up losing too much. I use my phone only at home as my tablet died.
Barbara - I just love your use of "loving discussions".
Heather - I hope you get a nice long visit in soon. Our numbers are relatively low right now and we had a lot of restrictions lifted. I don't think this will last though especially when school opens up in September.
Allie - The company that delivers the bed can't put it together? Surely if they wore masks and sanitized it would be ok.
Kylia - Your daughter is right, she probably won't change at this stage. I had a boss once that kept disappearing and I would have to handle everything. After I got over being angry at him and feeling put upon I just scheduled my day as if he wasn't going to be there doing his portion so I wasn't feeling overwhelmed when he didn't show. I ended up just being surprised when he did show up to work and took that as an easy day because they were rare.
Suzi - I hope the storm just moves out to sea and leaves all land clear this time. I handle a lot by myself too, I can credit my Mom for it, but for the opposite reason. She wouldn't do anything without my Dad and I swore I would be more independent. I just love that shawl too, I think I need to find someone to make one for me.
Ok, caught up again. Will be back this evening after work.

My descent into the rabbit hole continues. At least it’s a good one since it’s cleaning! This morning I put a second coat of oil on the leather recliners. I have cleaned 2 bathrooms. I cleaned up the edges of the sink in the laundry room (it’s not under mounted so it gets dirty on the seam). Cleaned the kitchen counters and vacuum the house. I’m neat most of the time. The cleaning urge only happens occasionally so I’m taking advantage of it while it’s here.

May I join you here, would love to share and give support and learn from you all. Restarting my commitment to LC....not sure if keto or within IF....but many years of always struggling to find my path. Interested in what works for others.

Going to be too hot this afternoon so have to do wash this morning and maybe sew or go for a walk or both. My newest sewing project is a kit I got to sew tea towels and pot holders for fall. I’m also knitting a poncho which I can’t finish until I get more yarn and another winter headband. Then will try the picket shawl. I want to make hats for winter too. Sewing, I got some fall and Halloween material to make masks. Those I can make in an hour so gonna squeeze those in too. Keeping busy helping my moods.
IF, I have increased to 16/ 8 with no issues. Gonna keep it there for a while with logging Everything and getting a couple 15 minute walks or longer each day. Day 4 and going strong.
Cheat days, when I worked, I picked a weekend day. Any day is good. For those interested in breaking a plateau, try lowering your carbs and eating more good fats and proteins. I started with keto at 5% (20g) of carbs a day but now I aim for 10% or under 100 grams of carbs a day. Aiming for under 50 most days. Only gained 3 pounds over my lowest weight in a year but still in overweight range. Losing 10 more pounds puts me in normal range. 10-20 more will give me room for 3 pounds up or down.

Welcome,
@Maggit59 Mag in SD and @mbusse001 Melissa in WI,
and anyone else who's new.
Katla,
I'm so sorry about Schooner's diagnosis. I hope he has many painfree days to come with you and your husband.
Rebecca,
Athena is just lovely - she looks so serene in her pictures.
Karen VA,
Olivia, on the other hand, looks like she is a scamp! She looks wonderful.
Heather,
Johnny does look incredibly happy to be out and about! Well done on your maneuvering.
Kylia,
Tracey already gave you the same advice I've given in situations where you feel you can't abide another person's behavior. What's disturbing you so much is not your SIL's actions, but the fact that she's violating your expectations of how she should behave. When you can bring yourself around to expecting absolutely nothing from your SIL, you will be calmer. Then the few helpful things she does will be a pleasant surprise, and the rest won't make you so upset.
Have had three nights back-to-back of five hours, four hours and then three hours sleep, and my body just rebelled this morning. Went right back to bed after Corey left for work and slept for two hours, got up, made a little breakfast, sat down for a few moments in the recliner and slept for another two hours. Feel as if I've finally caught up.
This afternoon, my plan is to finish getting that sewing room usable (for those interested, I have two Brother machines, one's kept loaded for straight stitch and regular sewing with a walking foot, and the other with a foot for free motion quilting). I have them both set up, one on a sewing table that was my birthday present back in April, and one on an older cabinet that has seen better days. I'm going to unload that older cabinet completely and get rid of it to clear some room, and then just swap the machines out on the table as needed. Will free up tons of space and make my head stop hurting when I go in that room, hopefully. Also need to set up a pegboard for thread and bobbins, but need a few things from Lowes.
On the fence saga - hadn't heard anything from them since the gas line was repaired, and as of this morning, there were still three post holes to be jackhammered out and a total of four posts to set in concrete.
So, the guys with the materials showed up (it's what woke me up the second time) and are putting up rails and pickets on the existing poles. Not actually finishing setting the posts that need to be set up, just putting up what they can. And, of course, the first rain we've had in WEEKS should be starting within the next half hour or so, so they won't be staying long.
I just have no words.
Later y'all,
Love,
Lisa6 -
Barbara: Thank you for the (((hugs))). Schooner is doing okay for now. We're planning to take things as they come. In our house, coffee is a basic food group. I don’t drink it after mid-morning, though. :noway:
Machka: I agree about the difficulty with replying via phone. I can read messages on my phone, but when I want to reply it is not something that I want to do via phone. I want to use my computer.
Heather: Thank you for the information on the Epley Maneuver. I’m happy that Johnny had no pain.
Karen in VA: Thank you for your sympathy. I will likely need it more and more as time goes along. Right now, Schooner seems comfortable and is not in pain. He has pain meds and a cream to help him with the sore on his backside. :flowerforyou:
(((Kylia))): Your SIL is not likely to change her attitude. It seems like she has things set up just for her personal convenience. I have sympathy for your situation, but no real advice. (((HUGS))) Can you look for work elsewhere?
SuziQ: I hope you stay safe and the tropical depression goes out to sea. Meanwhile, stock up on food and liquids. Bottled water comes to mind.
(((Melissa))): Your upcoming cat scan is going to give information you can use whether it is good news or difficult news. One of the huge assets of MFP is the opportunity to log every bite and swallow, and to track the macros. If you’re eating loads of fat, make sure it is balanced with healthy fat, such as olive oil. :flowerforyou:
Faye: Stay safe and as cool as you can. Be sure to drink plenty of water.
Tracy in Edmonton: Thank you for your kind words about Schooner. We are planning to do just as you suggest and enjoy him as long as we can. :flowerforyou:
Mag SD: Welcome!
Our usual breakfast is cottage cheese with fruit. Blueberries are my favorite. Today we had fresh pineapple. DH loved it, and I’ve been spending LOTS of time in the Loo. :ohwell: I think I’ll pass on future pineapple.
Stay safe, my friends.

Levi sighting! He will be seven months very shortly, and has figured out lip blubbing, and the videos are hilarious. Can't get the Facebook ones to transfer, though.

Contemplate the day ahead.
Allow the heart to lift.
Accept each moment mindfully.
Celebrate its gift.
Make time to let the spirit soar.
Aspire to reach the heights.
Let joy explode within your soul.
Enjoy the pure delights.
When evening shadows lengthen,
and honest contentment flows,
relax and let the body rest.
Welcome the repose.

Oh, I began intermittent fasting on my vacation. I am doing an 18:6, seven days a week. I am glad I was able to start it on my vacation because it gave me a week to get used to the "hungries" and not be "hangry" with the kids. I might revise it to 17:7; because now that I am busy in the mornings, I am getting hungry earlier.
Nice! Just know if you get headaches or hungries, a kernel of pink Himalayan salt under the tongue really works wonders! I would feel a whoosh of good feelings, tingly!

Hi everyone. Three weeks ago I had horrible bloodwork and have to have a ct scan on my liver. I was terrified after the blood results and immediately started on a 1200 calorie diet and walking every day. My goal is to lose 30 lbs. So far I have lost 3, but usually I plateau and give up. I am not big on exercise and tend to fizzle out after a while. If only my sewing machine pedal would count for exercise, I would have no worries! Any advice or support to help keep me on track is welcome and most appreciated!

Welcome, you can get support here. You have to bring your own motivation which sounds like health concerns would get you seeking a solution. Read what others suggest and find something that you can stick to. Come back to this thread every day for community support and encouragement. Seek opportunities to be active even if you start only with a 15 minute walk in the morning. Others have succeeded and so can you.

Hi all: Supposed to have a guy here this morning to finish cutting down the brush on our berm. DD and I cannot do this as neither of us has a long enough reach to get to all of it. However haven't seen him yet. Got recording done yesterday for virtual choir. Going to be warm here today but better than Monday. I am working on an afghan for my niece but think I have a pattern for crocheting a shawl similar to the one in the picture. Looks as if it would be fairly easy.
Welcome to the newbies. Mag in SD - Where in SD do you live? I moved to WA 5 years ago from Sioux Falls. We lived there over 40 years.
Kim NC - I was cleaning out some of DH's stuff and found a picture of the old historic Danville Hotel. We had our wedding rehearsal dinner there. Is it still in existence?
Heather - Glad DH is feeling better.
Katla - Enjoy that pup as long as you can.
Barbara - Do you have any pet sitters in your area? Maybe check with your vet. We have a lady who comes to take care of horses, goats and cats when both my DD and I need to be gone. She is awesome. If we are just gone for the day she will come over to let the dog out, play with her and give her a few treats.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA3 -
