Fasting Days

Fitness Pal provides warnings on fasting days which are not helpful. Fasting days are a reasonable diet strategy for a number of programs and should be supported for those of us using these strategies.

I don't want to step on deeply felt principles but fasting is used as overcompensation for a poor relationship with food. Fasting and exercising aren't even for the birds, they know better than that.

Do you know the percentage of 'fasters', rapid weight loss dieters and food restriction merry-go-round riders who actually make it to the 5 year mark with all of their major weight loss intact. It's slim-pickins. When all of the fasting is done, do you know how many fasters have learned how to moderate themselves with food. Not very many.

Extremes beget extremes. If you want to see where the rubber really meets the road go to the Success Stories. There you will find reasonable people following reasonable programs with long term success. Fasting days or fasting for days is a short term strategy resulting in long term frustration.

There is a better way. Read through the forum stickies, rules and regs. Fasting is not the way to go.

You have two good options here. If you're confident that you're meeting your calorie goal and nutritional needs overall, you can just ignore the warning. Or you can just not close your day out (MFP works fine without ever doing this).
