Friday night and I'm AF! DH & I drove home from our fishing camp (6hrs today). Instead of happy hour we went for a 3 mile walk then cooked dinner. Yes there is a bottle of white wine in the fridge chilled that we left here before the trip ... but it is unopened and staying that way tonight
Oct accountability: 7/23 days AF5 -
Taking advice on going to comedy rather than Cable News, I read a Carl Hiaasen novel, "Squeeze Me". Amusing, and also touches on a topic that has been raised here about what happens when an invasive species is introduced into an area without natural predators.
No inclination to drink , still chuckling...
Catpuccino would like Blackberry's e-mail , purrleeze??5 -
@forestdweller1 - I read Carl Hiaasen novel, "Skinny Dip" ... think it was #5 of the same series. Fun read too.

Enjoying sangria this evening, last bottle of wine, last drop of alcohol, in the world that I own and it's kicking off my birthday weekend. Husband asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I said "a long run and a long bath. But the gift I want to give myself is sobriety.
On another note, happy October birthdays to all of you ladies! Life is short, live it to the fullest!
On yet a third note, I am not someone who cares about disagrees. I feed and fuel off of disagrees. I probably get more than anyone and I appreciate and smile and embrace each one with joy.
Lastly, final note, husband bought pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin doughnuts, pumpkin coffee cake, pumpkin cookies, chips and dip...and I ate some of all...I'll be good on Sunday!
@chocolate_owl I do not know your anxiety. I periodically suffer from back pain but I cannot imagine what you are feeling, physically. I hope you defy odds...
When I was in labor with my little boy, they had to do an urgency c-section after an 18 hour labor because he was suffering due to a contracting umbilical cord around his neck strangling him, heart rate dropping to almost nothing and twice during labor I almost died when my blood pressure dropped to 70/30 and twice I was, in essence, dying, and had to be revived. Those were the most horrifying moments of my life. When I was rushed off to surgery the only thought, the absolute only concern in my mind was my loved ones without me. I lost a lot of blood, two different labors and I was was struggling like I never had, clinging to life... It's horrifying. I was screaming to my husband my death wishes as I was being rushed into surgery. I had no idea that would ever happen, life changing...eye opening. I had plans and someone else had other plans, and I'm not talking about my baby.
*** Last one tonight, I promise, it was last November (first) that I got a scary mammogram and in my mind, immediately, I thought the worst, the absolute worst...then another one six months later and one in six months until I'm in the clear, that it just shows that to be my breast, no changes. My next one is in December and I appear to have dense breast tissue but...the fear and anxiety may be worse for me, knowing, than any other issues Life can be scary. To sum it up, calcification in one area of breast but no biopsy or change from one checkup to another (thank God). Mammogram month, breast cancer awareness month, just do it ~ get 'em checked.5 -
Hi @chocolate_owl I really wish you good luck and positive health outcomes. Your instincts will direct you down the best path for you.
side note: I suspect whomever is hitting the disagree button is doing it by accident, IMO. MFP should just remove that because it serves no benefit anyways.
Late in posting because I had overnight company over for two days, so tied up cleaning house and windows (yuck)...then after they left, cleaning all over again. House should be close to sterilized now and I am exhausted.
At 12 AF month to date.

🎉Happy Birthday weekend @LoveyChar ! I remember your scare last Fall with the mamo's. It was frightening for us all and fingers crossed for your December check up.
@forestdweller1 you fly in low and unleash your absolute hysterical one liners. Thank you for letting us know your still out there. ( BTW, How is that basement clean up going? LOL)
@Lilylady3k Now that is the kinda happy hour I would like to have with my hubs...a 3 mile walk. 👍
@dawnbgethealthy congrats on hitting your low side goal so far this month.
@looneycatblue I hope your feeling better today. Those next morning after effects can be brutal. Start fresh with your streak. We have all been right where you are. Not the end of the world.4 -
Beautiful Saturday morning.
My plan today after I check in here, is to go workout like no one is watching. Grunt, groan and sweat. Maybe even cuss a little. Endorphins need to be released to produce higher metabolism.
Did you know MUSCLE burns FAT? Muscle also increases metabolism. Muscle may weigh more, but you look smaller, tigher and leaner.
Hmmmmmm so yeah, I am going to pump some iron 💪. Check out Chalene Extreme by Beachbody. It is my workout hero.

Realized this morning that I hit 16 alcohol days instead of 16 AF days this month. Well darn! WIN win only 2 exceptions (3 drinks) I kept in my daily goals (1-2 drinks). So that is a huge accomplishment and shows me that accountability is working in at least one part of my life!
Looking at this week not sure of my plans given the surprise birthday celebrations little birds whispered in my ear but I have 8 days left of this month so anything is possible.
Trying to readjust my thinking on what my goal will be for November. When I don't hit the 4 days AF per week or I'm so far gone from hitting the 16 for the month I just seem to throw up my hands.
At least I'm still here and still tracking ... that is huge!7 -

That is HUGE. Accountability is so very important.
Guess I am going to need to bake a bigger cake for all these birthday celebrations, past and present 🎂2 -
Disagree button could be an outsider, possibly, someone who is reading but never comments. Weirdos out there lurking and laughing or accident as @globalhiker said. I'm not really seeing the disagree, except in my own, but I'm not going back through old posts to re-read either.2

@MissMay Thank you as always for the encouragement!1

I am Dawn and live in South East British Columbia. I am 60.
My goal remains the same as it has been for quite some time, 16-20 AF days per month.
Friday October 23 - AF - Always happy to see that 16AF number.
Saturday October 24 - Drinks. Awesome busy day today.
Rolling total: 16 AF days out of 24 days so far.4 -
There is a sheet of ice forming over the bird sanctuary! (Elizabeth Lake) It has been minus 10 (Celsius) at night, and if that keeps up and snow doesn't cover it before it freezes completely we will have good skating ice all winter : - )
And how odd that I ran into yet another person on one of my daily walks. Really, I don't ever see many people on the trails around here (more trails than there are people). Of course I always stop to pat any dog that I see.
Well, today I was walking and in my "zone" when someone was like "Dawn?" It was a woman that I worked with 10 years ago, who played hockey back when I used to play hockey. We always said that we would get together for some shinny, but never did.
So nobody that I know could ever have appreciated the excitement that I was feeling that the ice was coming in and that the water would soon be skate-able like she would!!
Really cool and kind of spooky that two people from my past would appear within a few days, in places where I would normally be solitary. I am (and always have been) social for a living, during my downtime I don't look for that or particularly crave that.
I honestly am trying to stay open to the Universe for this next decade. Maybe the Universe is telling me that I need to be just a tad more social and make the effort : - )
A bit of open water in this photo still, but this would be one of the places where I would sit to put my skates on.
Happy girl with winter impending. I am a true winter girl. Loving 60 so far : - )

@dawnbgethealthy thanks for sharing the beautiful views. Here I am whining about a balmy 37° night when you are already close to getting out the ice skates. What a difference a few miles between us makes in weather.
I have a request of you. Not a huge request.....that photo of yourself that you put up last night, would you change your profile pic to that? This new photo really shows your happiness, your beauty and your love for turning 60. I am pretty sure I will get backed up on that statement by others on here.
You've Come A Long Way Baby!❤6 -
As promised a cake. It should be enough to feed everyone, including all our non posters. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US! ( I really did make this, but not last night. LOL)

Just remembered this morning ... it was 3 glasses of white wine but I also had a glass of red with dinner! Keeping myself accountable!4 -
@MissMay - The cake is beautiful! You are a very talented woman.
@dawnbgethealthy - Love your pics of the lovely winter scenes! I agree with MissMay that this pic of you smiling would make a wonderful profile pic.

My kids came into town to surprise me for a birthday dinner they prepared at my daughters new condo. It was wonderful and in my plan - steak, brussels sprouts and this yummy Keto Blueberry Lemon Cheesecake Bars (my DIL added crushed pecans to the crust). The only issue was the wine was flowing freely and I indulged.

Family photo ... took advantage of this rare opportunity when we are all together. Our 3 kids with their spouses.
