@MadisonMolly2017 It sounds like you are ready and fully prepared for the visit. If they have been in quarantine for 8 days and vaxed now AND tested I personally would feel pretty safe being around them. Is it just your son and wife or also some grands?

I hope you can enjoy their visit and not worry too much.

Totally agree on having my meals set and really enjoying them and maintaining, but watching my own health markers realized that eating the same thing pretty much long term was probably nutritionally insufficient for some reason. I am honestly beginning to believe that CICO works but longer term you have to pay attention to the health aspects. Perhaps at 20 or 30 or even 40 you can get away with just the #s but our bodies are definitely less forgiving as we get older. And you have several other requirements to juggle which I do not!

    Happy weekend, everyone!

I just returned from a wedding in central Maine. The bride and groom had postponed their big day twice because of COVID and finally yesterday it happened! It was wonderful getting together as a family again and because of vaccines most people were unmasked. I had to step away at one point because I got so choked up. I’m so grateful to the legions of researchers, scientists, vaccine volunteers, frontline workers, and other healthcare workers who made this day possible. They have given us our lives back and I couldn’t be more appreciative!

And on the way home we saw this:

We have lots of moose in northern New England, but sightings are still pretty rare. Once, I noticed something peripherally as I was sitting in my living room. Looked up, and a moose was standing in my driveway.

@themedalist The wedding sounds wonderful! I think we will be much more appreciative going forward of those times we can be next to loved ones without fear of getting or giving COVID. The moose posed nicely for you😍

    Hi all,

@MadisonMolly2017 , I’ll keep you in my prayers. Hope the visit is wonderful and that you stay safe and healthy.

@themedalist , hooray for attending a wedding and getting back to normal! Love the moose. I’m so happy and excited to be planning a trip to Arizona to visit my sister in her new house.

@SummerSkier , your healthy eating tweaks some like they are working well for you. I hope your drs appointments show great numbers.

3 weeks into May. Next Friday is my 44th wedding anniversary. Then my class will end the 1st week of June. After that it’s off to Arizona I go!

My nails are still looking good, but still no polish.

Thrilled with the news. Pathology not back yet but both endoscopy & colonoscopy showed ALL normal & completely in remission.

Got a prescription for a 10 day course that will wipe out overgrowth if bacteria in small intestine that can cause my symptoms.

Also was told “older people digest their food less well” grrr LOL

And a referral to another specialist who migh have a solution

But my symptoms are not serious so I am celebrating!!!’

    Thank you❣️

@MadisonMolly2017 That is good news! I hope you enjoy your family visit and can relax and just treasure the time you can be in the same place. I’m sure it will be all good.

@77tes Congratulations on your 44th anniversary. It’s been described as the Gourmet Anniversary or Grocery Anniversary. It’s recommended that you visit a Michelin-star restaurant and savor a gourmet meal. The alternative is to buy gourmet ingredients and cook your own lavish meal at home. Use your finest silverware and reminisce together over a bottle of excellent 🍷. I would definitely opt for choice #1 because guess who would have to wash all of those dishes that a cooking a lavish meal would involve🤨

@SummerSkier It would be nice if we could just use CICO and stay healthy. I’ve read about the importance of eating enough protein for muscle building especially as we get older and I always fall short on that and am too high on fat. Carbs are not an issue. I wish I craved fruit and veggies but they’re always last on my snack list😒

If you can read my previous message, you must be a genius! Why are my posts suddenly coming up all garbled and words on the wrong lines?? It’s not the first time, and it’s annoying. Someone else here had that happen, too, so I’m not alone. We’ll see how this turns out.

I realized I started meditation only a couple weeks ago, not at the first of the month, but will continue next month. I am also doing Tuna Tuesdays because I want to get more Omegas and that’s an easy way to remember it. I’m not finished with Good Habits, Bad Habits yet and have renewed it so I can listen again and take some notes next time through to share. I started out the day with classical stretch and I really think it sets the tone for the day so will continue with that as well. I’ll stop my disconnected rambling now🤭 Oh, except to say my daughter is right this minute moving from Albuquerque to Corpus Cristi so guess where I’ll be spending winters (a few weeks anyway)!

@nebslp - hmm... gourmet anniversary, interesting! I think we’ll be having leftover gourmet meatloaf. 🤣 My husband would wash the dishes, though. He is my automatic dishwasher. 🤣 We aren’t ready to go out to a restaurant yet.

I’m going to have to check out classical stretch. I’ve heard you mention it many times. I’m enjoying taking a few minutes each morning to look out my front door and watch the birds and listen to their song. I can’t see the sunrise from that spot, but I like watch the shadows climb up the wall across the street.

I was SO tired this morning. I woke up before 6 after having an extremely vivid dream. One of the character’s name was James, and I don’t even know anyone by that name. It took place in the 1800’s (the lady crying “James, James” was wearing a Little House on the Prairie type dress). The dream included horses and a wolf, and James was being held captive with many ropes tied to a wagon. His friend on a large, mottled gray horse tried to save him but his horse slipped and fell which caused all the other horses to run away, and the wolf came back. Oh, there’s more, but let’s just saying was kinda like a BAD movie😬 in living color. Anyway, the point is I did not want to get up and stretch, but I did it anyway and then meditated 15 minutes. I think it’s the only thing that got me through this day. I have 2 grandchildren this week and will get 2 more🤞tomorrow. I’m taking an Advil PM and hope it knocks me out. We will all be stretching at 8:00. That should make for a good laugh! Then we’ll see if they can keep their mouths shut for the 10 minute meditation.😂🤣😂🤣

13/15 days! Meditating today didn’t workout because of other demands on my time (4 very loud little voices!)
I gave up some good habits and took up some bad ones during the pandemic. If I don’t turn things around, I will get old, and I don’t have time for that. I feel old today. Yesterday’s meditation said we need to have balance in our lives in 5 areas...sleep, meditation, movement, healthy emotions, and nutritious eating. I have a lot of work to do!

    Dear @nebslp,
I NEVER consider you old! Quite the opposite!

Is there one of those 5 that you might want to concentrate upon in June?

I’m a big believer in “divide & conquer”

    I did eating first
    Then exercise
    Then healthy emotions
Then meditative activities - my art & affirmations
    And now working on sleep

Otherwise I would have been too overwhelmed if I tried to do all at once.

I know you are a woman of many talents! You’ve got this!

Hey everyone, I have been MIA for awhile. I'm a teacher and the last few weeks of the school year have been CRAZY. However, I have stayed on course with my habits and started a new one to boot!

I also downloaded one of those pretty habit trackers (like @77tes has) which has been super fun.

Friday was our last day of school for students, and Tuesday is the last official day for teachers...but I will be working at least one more day next week to prep for a summer program.

I bought a new planner and I want to set up some habits & structure for my days off.

I hope you all are well and having a great Memorial Day weekend.

Hi Everyone! Just a brief check in post as I am spending the weekend deep cleaning my house and especially all the carpets in preparation for my daughter and future son-in-law‘s (!!😀!!) arrival in June. It will have been 18 months since I’ve seen my daughter or hugged her. The longest time I’ve ever gone without seeing her and I couldn’t be more excited. She lives 2000 miles away in Santa Fe.

The deep cleaning has reminded me that another one of the many benefits of staying active is giving us the strength, energy, and stamina for large home projects. I’m moving furniture, slinging objects, and pushing the heavy rug cleaner vacuum around and I’ve got the endurance to keep going. I love being independent and not needing to hire other people to do tasks that I should be able to do myself.

Tomorrow is not a holiday for me as I need to finish up a project before a depart for Minnesota on Friday. I will be posting our next challenge tomorrow but it might be a bit abbreviated. We’re going to be doing something different this summer so please be thinking about what health goals you’d like to accomplish!
