@trooworld- I didn't do too many things right on my trip lol. Ate out for all the dinners, and some breakfasts, had cake. I did try to make good choices at the restaurants. Generally when I visit family I try to watch my portion size and bring along some healthy snacks.

This is a good discussion topic if anyone else wants to chime in!

Another frustrating week. We did eat out last night so I'm blaming the sodium in the Chinese food! My husband wanted either Chinese or Mexican food for dinner, both of which give me a spike on the scale!

What do you all choose from the menu in either of those restaurants to have the least effect on your eating plan?

@GabiV125 Happy Birthday! You did indeed have some wins, so celebrate that.

@Lose4me71 What a fun way to exercise! I hope you enjoy it.

@TeresaW1020 I did put my foot down last night, he wanted pasta with dinner and I told him to go ahead and make some for himself but I didn't want any! :D You have less going on so good on you for being prepared! I hope you enjoy lunch. Congrats on the loss, the scale is going down!

@davors19 @Cornanda Congrats on the losses!

@askewcr I'm sorry about the ankle pain. I hope it gets better soon.

@Cornanda I'd say you did pretty well considering, you even had a loss so that's a win!

@gwamajtw91 Chinese food and eating out, in general, will definitely cause a gain at the scale. I ate Chinese this week and I tried to pick something with lots of veggies and tofu instead of meat. Mexican, I get fajitas and either don't eat the tortillas or have half and have a little of the guacamole and sour cream.

Hi all. Happy Friday! I have scheduled some exercise time this weekend, I hope I don't make excuses and let myself out of it. I put the exercise on my calendar with reminders.

My phrase for the year: "I take no crap and eat no crap."

@broncobuddee I'm going to move my weigh-in day to Mondays. Should I skip today and wait until Monday, 1/31?

@TeresaW1020 I think we may want both, since Sunday is technically the start of the new month (at least from the spreadsheet perspective). If you skip today, you'll have no "week four" for January. But I defer to @jugar

@gwamajtw91 Honestly I don't eat out often so I just tend to enjoy it. I went out to a Thai place and just picked out veggies and protein last week. With Chinese food someone always gets orange chicken and we share everything so I get into that, I just try to eat more of the vegetable-type things to get more vitamins in me. I agree with @trooworld you can always count on a gain after eating Chinese.

@trooworld Do you have trouble exercising on weekends? One of my friends here does weekend challenges, I can email you her name if you're interested.

@aimoc Welcome to Slimpossibles, I just added you as a friend too, it's nice to meet you!

@Cornanda I'm definitely no expert on doing things right on trips, even my parents who are also diabetic "moderate' by eating cookies or ice cream once a day and pastries or cereal for breakfast, I'm totally fine on my own but on family trips there's junk everywhere and I go off the rails, especially because like when I go to Seattle we go to Costco 5xs a week and "just one" cranberry orange scone is 550 calories, not counting wine by the lake and desserts. I try like you to eat healthy at restaurants but it's definitely not easy, I still work out and insist on making veggies and salad which means I do a lot of the cooking when we visit family.

@GabiV125 - Happy Birthday! Remember that 50 is just a number. And now that it's here, it probably doesn't feel as bad as you thought it might. You have spent the last 50 years loving your loved ones and friends and sharing memories. See- doesn't that make it feel like an accomplishment?! Lists have their purpose, but you can always draw a new one.....or just crumble it up and toss it.

@Katmary71 - You are so right about vacays. It's bad enough when you have to eat out many meals, let alone be surrounded by baked goods. Sometimes I'm good at saying no, sometimes not so much!

I try to do steamed chicken and veggies with healthy sauce on the side for Chinese. Bet there's still tons of sodium. I think the healthy sauce just has less oil. Mexican, I like baked fish tacos. I try to dump on a lot of lettuce and eat some of it like a salad so I can skip some tortillas. But. Chips. And margarita salt.....

My sweet pup might be having some issues.....It's a long story, but he's old and less resilient than he used to be. We have an appt with a specialist on Tues. I'm not into high tech end of life care for pets- I just want him to be comfortable and happy as long as he can be. He absolutely worships me and it's been such a blessing to have that much love as my kids grow up and leave. Mostly he's holding his own but last night he was uncomfortable and I started to worry that he might not make it until Tuesday. I'm doing what I can and this is not something I can control. And it sucks.

@Katmary71 I have trouble exercising any day of the week lol but less so on the weekends. I'll think about the weekend challenges and let you know if I want to contact her, thanks!

@askewcr Have you been to the doctor yet about it?

Hi all. As you might notice, I've changed my phrase for the year to a full-blown sentence lol. I think it more accurately reflects my current mindset. I have scheduled a workout for 10:00 a.m., I may have to run my husband somewhere at about that time so it may be a bit later than that but I plan on doing it. I'm going to take it slow so I don't get a migraine.

My phrase for the year: "Something needs to change…so I will take no crap and eat no crap!"

    Hi Team,
I had a little set back; I gave myself a flare by doing too much so I've just been taking it easy. It did take me 2 days to vacuum the entire house, but it looks good. I usually do laundry, change the bed sheets and vacuum on Sunday's. I'm trying to get into a routine but add more things slowly. I ordered a spare washable filter for my vacuum so one can be drying while I'm using the other one. I think I need to take things a bit slower, I keep forgetting that. Lol, I should have learned by now not to overdue. When I'm in a lot of pain I become introverted.

I went to the market 3 days ago and I felt a bit better because almost everything I wanted was in stock and the shelves were mostly full. But I am looking forward to getting the new freezer Monday Morning. I think it has to be plugged in for 24 hours before I can start adding food.

I just finished my 4th book of the month, and I started another one last night. I did try a new recipe this week too. I'm keeping up with my 2022 goals for the most part. I need to revisit those 40 things to do in 2022. It will be fun to see just how many I can accomplish.

I've been being kinder to myself; I feel smaller, and it feels good. I'm replacing negative thoughts with positive ones. I know my weight will come off slower now and I'm okay with that so long as I'm not gaining. I've been eating closer to 1200 calories a day. It's strange but when I eat breakfast, I'm hungry all-day vs fasting until 2pm. I have to keep reminding myself that I'm in the 170's now, I don't know why that is not sticking in my brain. Sometimes when I look at myself, I still see the Morbidly Obese me. I've always had trouble with my body image. I will ask my shrink about that the next time I chat with him, what his thoughts are there. I missed my January goal weight by 1 pound.

I'm still fighting the high copay for my medication; my doctor had not sent in his part of the paperwork. It's such a hassle to call the medication insurance company. I will call again on Monday to see if they have everything they need. I did get my first shipment of free medication from AbbVie.

I've been reading all the posts and keeping up with my food diary and meal planning. I'm sorry I could not participate in the water challenge; I have slightly impaired kidney function and I take a diuretic. 32 ounces of water is about all I can handle, or I feel bad, so I strive for that.

I'm looking for to the next month and I have booked marked it already.

My phrase for 2022: I got this!
