What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
People say keto/LCHF isnβt sustainable. Iβve been doing it for almost 5 years with amazing results!
This is NOT A DIET. Itβs a LIFESTYLE.

7/16 118.5 GKI 6.0 Yesterday was a good day. OMAD was ham, 2 eggs, and 32 slices of a new to me keto bread recipe from Wholesome Yum - made with hearts of palm.
**EDIT - Oops, I see the recipe was from βibreatheimhungry.β Maybe thatβs why I couldnβt find it
7/17 119.0 GKI 6.5 Homemade βpulledβ pork and squash medley.
7/18 119.5 GKI 10.1 1/2 GG salad w/steak & 1/8 pita and had made strawberry whipped cream sweetened with vanilla bean SF syrup (less than 1/2c portion) **Post post edit - 3-4 days no TMI, finally relieved.
7/19 118.5 GKI 4.6 Finished GG salad early, went to the Apple store, got gasoline (!) and made a hamburger patty for myself had it on two thin slices of the bread I made the other day and ate one cup of leftover squash, pepper and onions. Nothing after 6PM - aiming for 16-18 hour fast which I intend to break with my version of BPC.
7/20 119.5 GKI 6.2 @4:30 AM Rt calf cramp woke me at 2:30 and 4. Gave up, got up, sitting in the dark LR. Community Bingo tonight, no idea what they will have for dinner. Fasting since lun-ner around 2 yesterday.

Getting pretty frustrated that I still can't get down to my challenge starting weight even! I've stayed within my calories and worked out all week. I do think I'm looking better and I know I'm feeling better. I know I shouldn't need the scale to reflect that but it sure would be nice! I got mad at work and did a HARD Peloton ride to blow off steam earlier. Felt good to really push myself but whew, it was the first time I've felt nauseous after a workout in a long time. Happy Friday everyone!!

@pezhed & @CamandJarvis - At Quiltβs of Honor, their goal is to present a patriotic quilt to veterans for their service. When they have come back from war, they were not respected and appreciated like they should have been. The quilts we make are not allowed to have anything juvenile, childish or feminine in them; they are beautiful patriotic quilts made with love. They just took a load of quilts to the Library of Congress to present to a certain group of veterans. I could go on and on; it is a wonderful group to quilt for.9

7/22 - 155.7 - As expected, a copious amount of bloat from yesterday's rotten eating habits. I'm actually quite shocked it's not more. Maybe that'll show up tomorrow. I HAVE, however, discovered that drinking my lovely loose leaf tea I've been procrastinating making (because I'm lazy and it takes SLIGHTLY more work than a teabag) fills me up quite delightfully. As in, I'm so full my tea is now cold but I love the flavor ("Full Moon Chai" but it's simply chai and I'm in love) so I'm drinking it cold while trying to figure out how to turn this into a dirty chai latte... I also apparently decided that I was going to sleep like a madwoman last night and woke up at 2:44am with the absolute worst muscle pain from behind my left ear and down to mid-shoulder blade and almost to my left elbow. Like I could not move without wanting to cry a little (I'm a bit dramatic at 2:44 in the morning... don't mind me) so I turned off my 5am alarm and slept delightfully (and painfully) until 6 when I still had ZERO desire to get up and only the fact that another human (feels weird to call him a child) is relying on me to get to his job is what got me out of bed.... Long story short: no workout this morning but after some lovely cream and stretches, I feel better and can move pain-free again. Tomorrow is my costco run out of town, though. And my dear mama wants some of this loose leaf tea (made by a local gal) so I also have some local shopping to do once I put away my costco goodies. It'll give me reason to walk at least somewhat. To add, my focus is not much better today. Apparently Wednesday was my Friday and my mind thinks it is the weekend and the brain has vacated the property. Except today is the Friday that I work and I'm very much in need of my brain or at least a few of the semi-functional braincells to get through these next 45 minutes before I'm off work and can run to the post office before I have to run to get the human who relies on me for transportation (did I mention he decided to buy BF's car? Battery is dead and BF said BigBro has to be the one to take it out, charge it, and re-install it so he can learn (AKA "don't enable him, don't touch, just supervise and step in if dangerous") and he hasn't done that yet so we shall see if he bothers to get the battery charged to drive himself on Tuesday. That's between BigBro and BF, I'm just the chauffeur until Monday evening and then I'm tapping out.)

7/18 - No idea why my body wants to put on weight. Granted, food has been a little wonky but not entirely unhealthy. Today likely has a little to do with the fact that we FINALLY painted our ceiling beams yesterday and boy are my arms/shoulders SOOOOOOORE. Plus lots of up and down ladders for a leg workout. We have family portraits Wednesday evening that I'm trying to work toward looking okay in. BF and kiddos going to BF's dad's this weekend (out of state), leaving Thursday morning and coming back Monday evening so it'll just be BigBro and I. We both work Thurs, Fri, Mon and he never really leaves his room on weekends so it'll pretty much just be me. I only have to worry about his to/from work and feeding him dinner (which I'm feeding myself so it's not a big deal there). I did force myself out of bed this morning (by reminding myself my actual alarm goes off in less than an hour and I'll be miserable if I let myself fall back asleep) to knock out a nice workout. 5-4-3-2-1 min alternating bike/rower (5 min row, 1 min rest, 5 min bike, 1 min rest, 4 min rower, etc). Feel better now that it's done. Let's see if I can keep this up, though. So long as I can get into bed around 9-930 every night, I think I can force myself up. Thursday might be a challenge since BigBro has to be at work a half hour earlier cutting my workout time short. Plus this week we may get home later Wed night since we're doing sunset family portraits (around 730-8) and that's about an hours drive away. Might call that my rest morning.
7/19 - Surprised at the drop despite the big heavy dinner. It was, however, filled with protein and veggies (I doubled up on veggies). Second day waking up at 5 to get some movement in. I'm super sore, particularly in the shoulders and neck (DOMS from painting I believe. Always the second day after for me I've noticed) so I did a nice Yoga With Adriene morning routine for 34 minutes. Hoping it would help the bit of a tension headache I have due to the neck/shoulder soreness. Might need to put some cream on to help ease it, though. The habit here isn't necessarily the workout, it's the getting up and moving first thing in some form or fashion. Due to the "lightness" of yoga, I have to be very careful about my food today. I have lunch and dinner planned, but I've noticed I get quite hungry mid-afternoon. I have a little bit of extra calories left for something to hold me over, though, so I should be okay so long as I stay mindful. Also, so long as I have my water dialed in, I have coffee in the morning to help me push lunch a little later (yay for the appetite suppressant side of coffee! Plus my collagen. I usually only drink one cup when I get back from dropping off BigBro but I'm drinking it early today so I'll give myself permission for a second cup later in the morning should I need it. Second cup won't have collagen added. Gotta watch them calories!). Hope everyone has a fantastic day! Editing to add: I'm focusing on how I feel and look vs the scale since I'm trying to reintroduce regular workouts. I know I'll likely gain some (or not lose) from glycogen and muscle build-up initially if I can keep this habit up.
7/20 - Easing back down. A little shocked as SD wanted to make rice so BF helped her make homemade chicken fried rice. Quite a carb-loaded meal for dinner. But I was mindful of what I was eating all day, only snacked on a packet of lemon-pepper salmon when I realized I was truly hungry (not boredom or emotional eating). Woke up again this morning for some movement. Yoga With Adriene "For when you're feeling dead inside" which is pretty accurate how I was feeling this AM. I was NOT having it. I had some pretty awful dreams, tossing and turning and waking up frequently. But I knew that 1 hour was not enough to make me feel any better so I might as well get up and move since it's more likely to boost me than a bit more sleep. Photos are up in the air as Fam didn't quite account for a few things, unfortunately. It is BF's fathers day gift so we left everything up to them except us getting our outfits (theme is red&black). We shall see if it works out. Kiddos only have a couple more weeks here so hopefully they get it sorted as the next opportunity is spring break. If it is postponed, maybe I can work this bloat off a little more and feel a little better about them. If not, oh well. The dress I chose will hide the bloat-belly I currently am dealing with fairly well. Edit to add because brain isn't working today: my TMI/digestion is all kinds of wonky. Not sure what's causing it but I have a feeling it is impacting how bloated I look/feel. Likely has impact on weight as well since I'm almost always higher when I have noticeable bloat. Hoping my food choices this week will fix this in the next few days. Edit #2: Fam just informed us they were able to find a place to accomodate us for photos. They are happening tonight after all.
7/21 - This weight will surely go back up tomorrow. I'm an absolute mess today. Night 2 of nightmares and terrible sleep. BF, LittleBro, and SD all left for Oklahoma to see BF's dad this morning. BigBro is out working and house is too quiet suddenly. I'd be struggling to focus if I was simply dealing with the sleep but all the sudden changes have really made it hard. I feel like I'm wandering around aimlessly today. I am getting laundry done (the 2 kids wanted their bedsheets and blankets done while they were gone) so I'm forcing myself to be up and moving at least every hour for that. Food is already rotten (read: terrible choices) today but at least dinner is cooking (yay crockpot!) for tonight so I'm not starving the boy after a hot day of working in this Texas Sun/Heat. Photos are done, I'm curious to see how they turn out. I didn't work out this morning but have my alarm set to go off tomorrow in hopes I can kickstart it in a healthy way which will lead to healthier choices throughout the day. At this point, I'm simply trying to get through the day. Side note, since kiddos are gone this weekend (AKA I have no plans and BigBro never wants to leave the house) and I work tomorrow, I'm going to go into San Antonio Saturday to check out Costco and get a nice stock up on the things we need in bulk. I already have a membership that I've used for big items that are shipping only but might as well use it since I have it. Plus it gets me out of the house and I'll have to walk around for some movement. Then to the local grocery, maybe Sunday, for the other little stuff we need.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Thank you! My symptoms were nuisance symptoms more than anything.
Having said that, still having to take it somewhat easy... just woke up from a really long nap (unheard of for me!)
Hope I sleep tonight :P5 -
@quiltingjaine yes I absolutely could make better choices! I feel like Iβm hung up on the old weight watchers ads that said you could eat what you wanted and still lose weight π5

Day/Weight/Comment
7/16 352.6 β I thought I was really late and I am not lol. This week has been unreal. After the funeral Thursday I decided to go get tested for COVID and the test came back positive. I feel fine though. I just felt like I had a bad cold. Taking the normal over the counter stuff I would take for a cold and halls lemon cough drops for cough and sore throat. I feel 100% better today. I never missed a day of work since I can work from home. But through it all I manage to stay on track with my food!! Thursday after the funeral I went to get me some good old comfort food but I was so much better than the old days!! Beef barley soup! And a small piece of cheesecake and a breakfast bowl I have been eating off for 2 days now. I will finish it off today. I still have barley soup and a little of the bowl left. Exercise has been terrible, but I will do a workout today since I feel up to it. The doctor told me the reason my symptoms were so minor for COVID was because I was double boosted. I was shocked, I tested positive. But my sister kept urging me to see if I had it. So, I went to an Urgent Care facility that does rapid test results. The gov tests were too complicated for this old girl! What a joke! I get to work from home all next week because I have it. I will retest on Wednesday and hopefully it will be negative. Since I still wear my mask everywhere including at work when I am in the office, I do not think I gave it to anyone, but I do know how I got it. Again, as many have posted on here COVID is still out here and whether you are vaccinated or not be careful and take care yourself. If you donβt believe anything else the numbers tell the story. I bet all of you know someone personally who have had and/or died from COVID. Just like millions have died from the flu, millions have died from COVID and many other diseases. So do you best to stay safe is my only message to you allβ¦. Have a great weekend and keep up the good work!
7/17 352.6 β A friend brought me over food from the BBQ I was supposed to attend yesterday. I ate some of the food yesterday and have some from today and it was yummy. I told her not to bring me too many sweets unless they were worth the calories. I specifically told her no cookies that are great, but I wanted the other stuff. So, I had one dessert yesterday. I am having another one today and the last one tomorrow. The old me, would have been eaten all in one day even if they made me sick which unfortunately in most cases I never got sick. But now I probably would which is another reason I can restrain myself. I feel fine today, so I am really hoping I test negative for COVID on Tuesday. I am going to try for Tuesday since it is more convenient for me to go on Tues vs. Wed
7/18 353.8
7/19 353.8
7/20 352.4:)
7/21 348.6 β Well a lot has happened this week. My Dad has been sick. He has been in the nursing home since February 2018. He never really recovered from my moms death, who died Oct 28th, 2015. She had a 10-year battle with colon cancer. He is now dying and in hospice. I saw him tonight and he look so peaceful. I think my appetite has been off because of COVID and stress. I finally got a chance to see him even though I still tested positive for COVID. They say I am no longer contagious.
7/22 348.6 β So much has been going on, I forgot to celebrate being in the next decade. Bittersweet but I am very happy despite the circumstances. That was my goal this round to get in the next decade.

My journey β¦ "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but Iβm Not Where I Use To Be!"In 2003 Weighed over 600 lbs.My highest weight was 611 in 2003. Weight in 2004 before weight loss surgery was 580. Lowest weight after surgery was 302 in 2007. "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but Iβm Not Where I Use To Be!"
In 2005 Weighed under 400 lbs.
In 2007 lowest weight after surgery 302lbs
I joined MFP on March 27, 2010, weighing in at 388 pounds. I was re-gaining weight and stumbled up on it while trying to get back on track. I was determined never to see 400+ on that scale again for me.
I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. In October 2004 I had Gastric Bypass surgery. WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) was the best gift that I could and did give to myself.
Between 2008 and 2010 I gradually gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially after weight loss surgery. I never reached my goal weight of 200 pounds. I still managed to keep off over 65 percent of the weight I lost which is very good and I am very proud of my accomplishments since 2004. It has literally changed my life for the better on all levels. I am here to lose re-gained weight and to reach my initial goal weight. I am in no hurry. I am taking this one day at a time and I am in it for the long haul.
Surgery did not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself, but it was not the easy way out as many people think. Once the honeymoon period is over after the WLS it is up to the patient to keep the weight off.
On August 29, 2011-- I was admitted to Intensive Outpatient Eating Disorder Program to learn how to manage my binge eating disorder effectively. The program is wonderful indeed and will be instrumental in me reaching all of my goals. The focus of this program was how to eat and not diet. Weight loss was not a goal of the program. I gained 20 pounds in program. But I had to get thru a lot of stuff and the time I was released I had stopped gaining. I was discharged from program on December 3, 2011.
My tool is still working for me today. My head is still the issue. SO, the struggle continues. I will never beat myself up again. I fight the fine fight faithfully and positively every day. Because that is what will get me to my goals one day. Even though it may not show up on the scale every day -- Every day I make progress one way or another just by showing up, waking up and trying.
Giving up is not an option for me. Perseverance, Patience, & Positive thinking will help me reach my goalsβ¦β¦ and the same is true for you too!! We have the power within us.

64 yr young F, 5ft 4 Round 193 ( my 125th). ThanksΒ @QuiltingJaine.
Goal this round is just to lose, I want my Commonwealth Volunteer uniform to feel a little less βsnugβ ! (First shift is Wednesday !! ) No binges, keep within calories & macros.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, It's took me 75 rounds to achieve my under 130 target; back to maintenance again!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back under 130. A healthy life style has to be a permanent way of life.
