Barbie— I enjoy the photo of your black and tan dog. My first dog as a young child was a black and tan cocker spaniel. I loved that dog and named him Trigger, after Roy Roger’s horse. I loved that dog, and still see Roy Rogers, Trigger, and Bullet (the dog) in old reruns once in a while. Jay Silverheels played Tonto. I loved that show on black & White TV. If I remember correctly, Jay Silver heels was a Canadian Cree as was Buffy St. Marie. I loved the Roy Roger show.3

Carol - Cutie Patootie in pigtails...
Rebecca - Athena is such a character. It's a joy to watch her grow up. Hope your GB issues resolve soon - so agonizing.Writer, artist, and podcast host Debbie Millman on busyness:
"Busy is a decision. We do the things we want to do, period. If we say we are too busy, it is just shorthand for the thing being "not important enough" or "not a priority." Busy is not a badge. You don’t find the time to make things, you make the time to do things."

Barbie - My mom used to say, "people do what they want to do". There is elegance in the simplicity of that statement.
Pip - Welcome to your new kids! Lucy and Cheespas (??Peaches??) are adorable.
Rosemarie - Yes! As a matter of fact, just today I found some notecards he had made up from some of his art years ago, and asked him if he would consider doing that again! He said he would like to. Thank you, and thanks to everyone with suggestions for marketing his art - I did have to shake my head when I pulled out his oldest works - some of them are huge! 30"x40" ( ) - now he does only 9"x12", and trims them to fit an 8"x10" opening (mat or frame). Generally, he is charging $40 for unframed art and $60 for framed art, plus shipping. I don't know what his price point for notecards would be.
Allie - Such a sweet photo of napping Miles and Kitty.
Lisa - I agree. He is wrong.
Kim - Your hair is absolutely gorgeous. Love the new cut.
Katla - Thank you for keeping us posted about you and your husband. Sounds as if your husband will be transferred soon. Waiting is frustrating.
Vicki - The first time I didn't wear a mask in public I felt "exposed". I'm not sure how wise it is for a medical facility to remove the mask requirement right now, just as we are heading into flu/RSV/Covid season. (??)

I am lucky to have so many friends here with Women 50+. This is an amazing group of friends who live in many places and countries. What a gift! ❤️5
-
KetoneKaren - no, it’s hard to translate some Spanish words or nicknames. Kirby sometimes calls her cheese puffs which is cute.
Chispa means spark, she’s definitely got sparks in her personality5 -

Pip The eye on that one dog is fascinating!

Today was two whole wheat soft tacos, 2 T of taco meat, 2 T of spicy Spanish rice, southwestern corn, FF sour cream, taco sauce, black olives, lettuce and melted Tillamook cheese. They were delightful. Then for dinner I had pickled beets, fridge cucumber slices , low fat cottage cheese, 3T of marinara sauce and 2 bread sticks. I made Lee lasagna hamburger helper.
I also had two glasses of my Mirilax powder in lemonwater. Oh and a container of pudding. Its so nice to be eating again, and feeling better. Not even taking my pain meds at night.👍🏻

Did two loads of washing for the cruise - cottons and delicates. We don't have a tumbler dryer, so drying stuff takes a while, but I will move bits around the house. Fortunately, the weather is unseasonably warm and the dining room gets sun.
I think towels and bed linen will have to wait until we get back. Will change bed linen today. Might wash the guest towels and just leave them out to dry while we are away.
I'm LOVING my new machine!
I will get suitcases out of the loft and start packing today.
Have I ever told you I HATE packing!
Lanette - I am packing for all weathers. No way of knowing. Won't be freezing and won't be blazing, but anything in between! Luckily, we are taking three big suitcases between us, plus personal bags, (we don't have to carry anything) so space is not a problem. I always take a few short sleeved T shirts anyway, for the dancing lessons. The Britannia Lounge gets hot with all the glass. A design fault, I think. I'm expecting mild, with maybe a couple of warm days and maybe a couple of rainy, chilly ones.
I went to Florence in October and it was quite chilly and rainy. The Italians were already in their padded coats. But Menton in February was pleasant. So, a bit of everything!
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxxx5 -
Tracked today for the first time in months, went 70 cal over, but I can live with that! I also went to the gym, first time in two weeks for that. My little sweetie of a granddaughter was sick a few weeks ago and shared her cold germs with me. I did test negative, but was sicker than I have been in years from "just a cold"!
Pip, the pups are cute! I like your new wheels too and yeah, it's just money! lol
Rebecca, glad you finally have a diagnosis and hope that you are able to get that resolved soon.
Heather, congrats on the new washer! I had a washer die on me one time, if I remember correctly it had blue jeans in it at the time. Oh and water of course, lots of water.... That was a pain! We were renters at the time, the landlords generously offered their washer while we were waiting on ours getting repaired. They just lived upstairs, and I did take them up on it, two of us and a baby, needed laundry done on a very regular basis!
Machka, congrats on your decluttering progress! I really need to do some of that too. Still have stuff that belongs to my children here, can't get rid of it, but of course neither of them have the room for it right now so it stays here. Good thing we have room!
Kim, wow! when you get a haircut, you don't fool around! Nice that you were able to donate the hair.
Michele, I have a hard time hearing about people's co-workers who are drunk on the job. I worked for many years where being drunk at work was grounds for immediate dismissal. This was mostly in a pub, and it really wouldn't look good for your server to be plastered and then trying to limit the customer's intake, but still..... Dangerous in a kitchen situation, too much chance of hurting yourself!
Lisa, nice to hear that your health seems to be ticking in the up direction!
Allie, Miles is growing so fast!
Loving the photos, but have to agree, descriptions would be nice!
Past my bedtime now and I can't remember anything else that I wanted to comment on. This does not mean that there wasn't anything else, just that I can't remember!
Hugs for those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!

Morning
A stray cat has been visiting my mum, she has been feeding it and any other cat that pops by! She's been doing this since a stray cat that adopted mum passed away. A neighbour of mums told me that the cat had had kittens in her shed, I told her that mum was feeding the mother cat (as well as a few other people in the street it seems ) The neighbour said the kittens were old enough now to leave the mum and were running around the neighbourhood. To cut a long story short, the kittens started visiting mum for food and I managed to catch 3 of them yesterday to take to the RSPCA. I hated the thought of the little kitties being out in the bad weather and the chance that they could get hit by a car or injured by other cats/dogs. Unfortunately, there is still a kitten out there, but I hope to reunite it with its siblings (if I can catch it) they are not completely feral, but very frightened. I'm hoping that the mother cat (who is very young herself) has been looking after it. I think the mother cat will be easy to put in the carrier to take to the vet to be spayed, she is getting very friendly with us. As soon as we get the other kitten we'll take mummy cat to be checked for a mircro chip in case she is a lost cat. At the moment 3 kittens are safe in the back room with a litter tray food and water. Of course, they do not know how to use the litter tray!! I just hope they go on the newspaper, and not climb up onto the bed.
Rebecca Some of my rooms are multifunctional but I get the idea thanks. I need to get rid of stuff no longer used or needed.
Heather What make of washing machine have you got? I got a new one when I had my kitchen done, and I don't like it and wish I had kept my old one which worked fined. It was a whirlpool and I loved it. The new one is a Lamona and it is all digital and bleeps and flashes when trying to set it on a cycle. Not sure if there's a lose wire somewhere but it drives me mad.
Better get a move on, a quick tidy round and then go see if I can catch a kitten.
Love to all

Viv - Mine is a John Lewis own brand, like my last one that lasted 12 years with zero maintenance or care from me. Fairly basic. You get three years guarantee. I'm liking the bigger door and the display is simple enough. I don't need any bells and whistles. 3 options is enough for me, I just ignore the rest.
This morning we changed the bed linen together as I can't put a super king duvet on by myself! Then I told DH that he ought to put a load of towels in the machine, so he knows how to work it in case I pop off. So I stood over him while he loaded it. I had to prompt him about the washing powder, but otherwise fine.
Making slow progress with collecting my thoughts about packing. Writing stuff down as it comes to me. I will have to try a couple of things on as I've put a couple of pounds on.

Cruisemapper is telling me our ship is on its way home and is just about to round the North of Spain. It's the one in the red circle
Does that count as a 'Feel good'?

Up at 2 a.m., got laundry started, emptied the dishwasher, and read a few chapters of the current book. Finally gave in and made myself a cup of tea. The insomnia is probably due to the tramadol, but well worth losing a little sleep when you can wake up with no pain. For those who have connected the dots, the Aleve that the tramadol is replacing might well be the reason for the ulcerative colitis diagnosis, but they don't know that for certain. They have yet to pin down a specific cause (for anyone, not just me).
Heather - Once again, am very happy to live vicariously through your experience with the cruise! I hope you both have an absolutely wonderful time.
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa4
