Let's rise and shine out there.
Church this morning, then a birthday hike with DD#3 and her siblings. She and I climbed Mt. Wachusett the other day, something I haven't done in a while, and my legs are sore this morning. A sign I need to do more of that.
The piano key signature I thought could be my grandfather's is definitely not, although the piano was the same era he worked in the factory. We found his immigration and citizenship papers online and compared the handwriting.
Got my canoe apart and back together yesterday before the party at DS's house, and it's seaworthy again. Well, pond-worthy. Challenging to juggle clamps, drill and screwdriver while bending an 18' long piece of wood to the curve of the hull. Got to know some of his GF's family a little better.
Need to weigh myself and get back on track regarding food--shopping, portion sizes, balancing fats, carbs, proteins and fiber, munching, muffins...
Nice sunrise this morning, but rain later and overnight.
Bill, hope your pain situation improves there.0 -
Mornin' gents.
I got goosebumps when you told the story of your grandfather and his possible signature on the piano key, Mike. Too bad you don't feel it was his handwriting, that must have been a bit of a let down. It was for me.
Amazing preserve photos, Steve.
Bill, how would you describe your average day pain wise? Scale of 1-10? I spoke with the pharmacist that was scripting out my Skyrizi injection the other day and I gave her a 3 as my average day, but too much activity bumps it up to a 6. I reserve 10 for child birth or an acutely fractured bone.
How is the hip pain, Dave? Still keeping the walks under 2 miles?
Small late brunch with DSIL (single) and a male friend. Smoked a brisket all day yesterday. Put it in the holding oven at 10:30 last night. Smoking a brined turkey breast as well. There will be lots of food going home with guests.
It was a pretty sunrise but it reminded me of the saying "Red sky at night, sailor's delight. Red sky in morning, sailors take warning."
Was thinking of burning my huge brush pile today but its cloudy and no wind. We are getting rain later too, which would probably extinguish the fire before it completely burned the pile.

Good morning!
Connie and I started on the leaves yesterday. My old trailer that I pulled behind the lawn tractor broke. I bought a new metal one, but it came in a box with a big bag of screws. It wasn't hard to put together, except for the pain in the hands wrenching all of those screws. Yesterday, Connie and I raked up the thickest area of leaves in the yard before the rain came in. The leaves will be too wet to pick up with the lawn sweeper today, so that will wait another week. I will pick up sticks in the yard today. Lee, we have a huge pile to burn, but we burn in late winter before the turn the garden soil.
I was down a pound today. 4 down, 36 to go. I notice that I have lost and gained the same 10 pounds three times in 2022. That's not good.
A few chores today and then back to work tomorrow.
Have a great day!0 -
Good morning gentlemen.
Got a note from my PCM with the results of the X-rays I had of my hip and lower spine. My hip just shows some arthritis. No surprise: all my joints have arthritis. My lower spine shows a curvature where I shouldn't have one, multiple levels where there is a loss of disc height and space, and vacuum disc phenomenon at L4/L5. I never heard of the latter, but it is an accumulation of gas, usually nitrogen, in the area, and is a sign of disc degeneration disease. That's the source of my pain, she thinks. The first step is to try physical therapy - as usual - before more intrusive options are considered. Kitten.
Both my teams lost, yesterday, so my college football season is over until bowl games. Go Seahawks!0 -
Good Morning
Lee, I hate the pain level question. But when things are going fairly well I hang at 2-3 with reduced activity. Most flair-ups get up to 6-7. Thanksgiving night I hit a 9 despite the pain meds which is thankfully rare. The higher levels are generally nerve pain. The daily pain is muscular and is generally lower. The numbers are irrelevant to me. I am back down in the 2-4 range today which is good.
Not much planned today, beyond cleaning up the living room area so the tree can come in. We will be cleaning up an old large bird cage we have there so we can sell it on Craigs List. I think I will try to sweet talk a certain redhead into a bit of a drive.0
