Worked but the plan for tomorrow is to do Denise austin’s Quick Burn Cardio DVD

DrKatie – remember when we were younger and no matter how comfortable something was, if it wasn’t fashionable, we didn’t wear it? Now we wear clothes a lot for comfort

Tatoos: When I turned 40 I thought it would be way cool to get a second piercing in my ear. Today I regret that decision. So I’m afraid to get a tatoo. I may think it’s cool today but in 10 years? That’s just me. Ginny – I’m looking forward to seeing a pic of your tatoo

Karen – great suggestion to Kim to buy her own gift! But I would suspect that her mother wouldn’t like it, no matter what it was and wouldn’t want to give it to her

Heather – I am very impressed with all the new things you are doing

Rebecca – I’m so sorry about your kidney. Will you have to monitor your protein intake?

The weather here is really weird. At Christmas time it was down in the 20’s. Now for Nyear’s it’s supposed to be up in the 50’s. Go figure!

One thing I realized while we were at Jess’ was that the pants I was wearing, I must have bought about 15-17 years ago and they still fit! To me, that was something.

Think I’ll go for my walk.

Enjoying your blog posts, Lisa. I'm gaining a much better idea of what you are up against. <3

Karen - Your wonderful swimmer warms my heart. Oh that photo of her doing the Butterfly, the stroke of the devil!
I think my son etc are hoping that Edie won't get too good at sports. It requires just as much dedication from the parents as the child. Unfortunately, Edie is determined and passionate. :p

Time for a read and sleep.

Margaret - that is an impressive display of poinsettias! I rarely see the white ones, the red seem to be more common here. They are beautiful

Rosemarie, I haven't washed my red top yet. I was waiting for grocery day to get some Woolite gentle soap. Thank you for the reminder!

I'm having a hard time getting back on the wagon. My body is always convinced that my problem is lack of sweets. Wrong! More water and less sugar would give me more energy. Well all I can do is try again tomorrow. Eventually this will catch on in my silly brain.

28 An opportunity you’re grateful you had. To switch from Assistant Pricing Mgr to Network and PC Support Supv. – It let me keep my job for another 28 years, although we had to move to Boise for 27 of those ;)

Ginny your penguin tattoo reminds me how much I miss Penny @lagopus.
Kylia so many are now enslaved to their jobs due medical insurance needs. Don’t envy your coming hard conversations with DH, his Sister and any other owners. Tough times.
Lanette, Could you take Sophie and Kitty with you to your SIL’s? Guessing Sophie is too big to fit in a Sherpa under an airline seat, perhaps on the train?
Barbie glad the park management is taking care of the trees. We’ve had some not-so-tall trees removed and yes it is a fascinating and scary process. Good question about the checks.
Michele, do you know how headphones could connect to the drum set? Is there a headphone jack or would it have to be Bluetooth or???
Kay I like your simple main categories and love your new comfy pjs.
for continuing to keep connected despite the pain.
Machka like your categories too. Must have been channeling you. Found MSAccess on my laptop and the Personal Account Ledger template complete with categories for income and expenses. Started entering 2023 income/expenses for tracking or figured out how to set budgeted amounts and reduce as expenses entered, but it feels good to play in a database again after all these years. Will use my “actual” spreadsheet to come up with budget estimates for 2023 and plop them into the db. Whee! That Stevens Pass video makes me think the SnowCat was a Zamboni.
    Katla yours to Kim. Perfect.
Karen in VA  those yorkies!
Margaret love the gratitude/great year jar idea. Stunning display!
Heather I’m in awe of your and Johnny’s watercolors.
Rebecca what a shocker. When is surgery scheduled? Or did they take the kidney when they took the gall bladder?
Debbie your red fringed boots and jacket sound so cute!
Lisa “I have loved . . . I feel as if I've lived with y'all, been part of your lives, and even seen into your hearts in some cases. This group is unique in my life, it always has been, and I am so grateful for y'all. ” Well, said, and amen, sister, amen.
Rosemarie sorry the new combo of meds had such a bad result. Glad you took quick action.
Michele still able to wear pants from 15-17 years ago? Bravissima!
Kim ((hugs)) Really admire your courage and ability to go from tears to laughing and dancing a jig. VERY well done.

Lanette, Michele, Karen and all, thank you for being so kind about my encylopedias ;)

Tumble is squeaking that its way past Tummy Time. It’s not, but I’ll give in.

:) We send checks to our grandchildren for their birthdays. How would we send them money if we didn't use checks?

Direct deposit into their accounts. :)

That's how it's done here. That way they've got it right away without the hassle of having to find a bank that will cash the cheque for them.

That's what we do if we don't have cash on hand and there's a collection at work for someone's retirement or whatever too.

Regarding cash gifts, I purchase Visa or MasterCard cards for the older grands so they can get what they want wherever they want, rather than having to spend them in a specific store. I'm sure within reason they've never seen a check. The "credit cards" make more sense for a lot of different reasons. I wouldn't have had the foggiest clue what to do with it at their age, but they certainly know! I've also sent my son cash through Google Pay, but am a little uncomfortable with that. :| Not even sure why.

Recently (in the last few months) I overheard a conversation where an older person was trying to describe the concept of a cheque to a younger person. That you write the amount on a piece of paper and sign it and they can take it to the bank and the bank will give them money. The young person thought the older person was joking and couldn't believe it.

Got your pictures Heather! Thank you ever so much! I will be making copies soon buying cardstock and envelopes. 👍🏻💖🤗
Well yesterday's kidney appointment was an eyes opening experience! The doctor announced that my right kidney is non functioning and has atrophied. Thank goodness that is the one with two large stones. My other kidney has taken up duty, functioning fine. He said many people lose one kidney and do just fine for the rest of their lives with the other kidney. My hemoglobin numbers are good in my left kidney, but I have to watch my creatinine numbers. Creatinine is a waste product from your muscles working properly. Unfortunately if my kidney isn't working well it can't filter creatinine out of my blood properly. So every 6 months I will get bloodwork to check that. Right now its at 1.8 which is good. So I was bummed I lost a kidney, but just like my gallbladder, I had lost the function of it a long time ago. I was really relieved that I don't have to get the stones blasted, that they are so big there is no chance of me ever having to deal with the pain of passing them! That really concerned me.
    Rebecca

I'm glad you got it checked!

I'm still waiting to get in to see my kidney specialist.

    Good evening all:

Long day with kids-they each got tattoos also. I paid for them as part of their Christmas. Process was not bad-there is discomfort from the needle going in but it happened in short bursts so not long and sustained. I had figured it would have some pain so it didn't really bother me. The pic is right after it was finished. Will post another in a couple of days after irritation tones down. There is a possibility I may regret getting it someday, but I already have much larger regrets in my past-I think I can risk it!
    qk2gtylpexzk.jpeg

Son and DIL got me a cool picture frame that I can give people code to and they can just send pictures to it. Looking forward to figuring it out. Will give three kids code so they can send pics to it.

Kim-glad the gift thing got worked out. It does sound like your mom can be a bit of a pain-but it sounds like she is trying to be the best mom she can be. After I realized my mom was doing the best she knew how to I adjusted my expectations (actually a friend asked if it was my problem or my mom's if she didn't meet my expectations)-we were able to have a much better relationship. I'd give anything to have her here to pi** me off!

I do still write a few checks. Slowly getting to point of using Venmo. I can transfer money from my account to my kids but only in increments of $500. Most bills are paid on line. I prefer to pay each month as opposed to automatic payments.

Off to get some sleep. Silly time change is bothering me. Should be fine tomorrow.

    Take care all,

Kim – yeaaa for your mom saying “yes”. Wooppee

Barbara – I believe there’s some sort of jack on the drum set for the headphones. I’m not going to order them until Denise says that we can come up. This time it’ll only be for one day, tho. As far as the pants go, the flab has shifted in the last 15-17 years, tho.

Well, think I'll get ready to go to bed. I want to time myself tomorrow. Get up, exercise, go to BK just to peel and slice the onions, and see if I have time to get to the first shift at the Green Room. After BK I do want to go to WalMart, but that's particular only to today. See, I like to do things early in the day so I'd like to volunteer at the Green Room for the first shift. When I was working at BK on Thursdays I would volunteer for the second shift (12:30-3)

Lynette said that she and Ken will come over for dinner Sat. I figured they would. Now I just want to see what I can do ahead of time.
