Tracey we’ll both be trying to get back to better habits than. I realized today that I have to set up a schedule like you. I am not able to drink as much as I should on my own. Tomorrow I’m going to schedule drinking times throughout the day!

Had a cup of coffee a few hours before class. Not sure if that is what helped but I was able to pretty much keep up for the full hour of Zumba(and almost every song was fast). Got 8000 steps during that hour!
It is now after 10PM and I am not very tired yet. Hope I can sleep tonight.

I am off tomorrow(my usual day off from Ezie) Dh and I will go shopping.
The great deals at Safeway I will pick up will be
    Pork chops- 88cents a pound
    Ground beef 1.88 per pound
The thing is, you have to buy in a 6lb or more pack. I have no room in my freezer so will be sharing with friends.
Need to go to another store- Smart and Final or FoodMaxx- to pick up a bag of salad. I bought a 3lb bag last Thursday and finished it today. Have been enjoying huge salads with various toppings.
I usually do great during the summer eating salads but not this time of year. Trying to keep great toppings so that really helps. Crispy onions from 99cent store and little avocados 3/$1. Then grilled chicken, tuna or ????

Regarding drinking water and trips to the toilet ... I really don't mind getting up and going every 1-2 hours.

I'm supposed to stand up and move about once an hour anyway.

We had a lovely evening yesterday. We set off just after 4 pm for our walk to the fish restaurant. Damp and grey, but the noise of the rolling waves on the grey/brown sea was hypnotic. One advantage of a shingle beach.
I so love The Regency. It feels like an old-fashioned continental place, with really experienced waiters of the old school, and simple, but perfect food. I find I can relax there, because I know they have it taped. I really appreciate professional service.
We both had hake with capers, and boiled potatoes. They give you a little salad with it. It's always fabulous. Old fashioned, traditional food. We had a glass of house wine each and really enjoyed chatting. I think we both felt relaxed.
Then off to French Circle. The woman we met a couple of times ago was there and came to sit with us. I took a risk and asked her if she wanted to swap contact details. So I gave her my email and phone number. She said she would be in touch. We will see. She lives in walking distance of us, but a bit further west. We all wandered back to the buses together, but DH and I caught an earlier one. We were back in time to watch our favourite TV programmes.
I would love to have a local friend, but it's difficult to find one.

    Today is painting afternoon. :p

I bought DDIL an email voucher yesterday for a beauty salon treatment, maybe a full pedicure. I haven't heard from her if she's got it. I hope I gave them the right email address. :* I also posted a hand-painted card I made last month. Got to treat your DILs.

Sun is streaming in the front bedroom. Hooray!

    Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Machka - congratulations on the job news.
I would like to do the 9 days or even better a 4 day work week. If I’m already at work staying another couple hours wouldn’t hurt to make up for the hours

    Tracey in Edmonton

I've been working a 9-day fortnight for almost 2 years and I really don't want to go back. :)

I spent years and years working 2 or more jobs or working and going to school at the same time ... I figured it was high time I had a bit more time for other things!

Did a body pump DVD, then went to a few stores. Got meringue powder that I needed, looked for any St. Pats day shirts but no one had one that fit me. Work tomorrow.

Debbie – I, too, very rarely drink soda. I might have one/year, but that’s about IT. Definitely don’t do the “diet” sodas, and I just can’t justify the calories in regular sodas. I’d much prefer to have water. Unfortunately, around here there’s lots of sweet tea (yuk, and double yuk)

Got to go take a shower and get reads for work tomorrow

    Michele NC

Sweet tea is not a thing around here. Only available maybe at Popeye's Chicken or one of the few Cajun places
The first time I had it was when I lived in Mobile,AL. It is different when you are only used to unsweetened tea. Dad would have loved it- He always added a spoon full of sugar to his tea(even the little cups of tea at the Chinese places.

Iced tea should be sweet ... but hot tea doesn't need sugar. :)

    Good evening ladies!

Rebecca "minimalist in training" love that! I'm more on the hoarding side, within my space constraints. I'm really bad with piles of books and papers. My mother has hundreds of books in the basement, but I've got my own collection going.

Tina sounds like a beautiful dive trip! I used to dive near San Diego. I had a lovely group trip to Catalina Island long ago.

    Annie in Delaware

I would love to have less, but the mister just keeps accumulating stuff. There is a corner of one (mostly unused) room in the house full of his unfinished projects. On our trip, he bought yet something else that is just going to collect dust. It is irritating.

Catalina is nice, but the water is just so cold in Southern California. It stopped being enjoyable for me.

    Why did you stop diving?

The mister is extra cranky today. He is having a procedure done to see if he has any heart issues. I can't remember what the procedure is called, but I suspect it's similar to one Kylia is having??? I'll find out more when he gets back. He finished all the other tests at the end of last year, but it took this long to schedule this final one.

    Tina in CA

    Angiogram?

Both my husband and I have had that.

They went in through his groin, but in through my wrist.

Two of them. Or one really stupid one that got caught twice. NOT on my pillow, thank you, just had to chase them through the house and pitch them outside.

Rhody goes after lizards. Occasionally he catches one and carries it around in his mouth till we rescue it. More often he ends up just getting the tails which twitch around independently of the body of the lizard for a little while.

Mary – the problem with diet soda is that you have those artificial ingredients. And I believe it’s aspertame that’s linked to altzheimers

    Michele NC

    Myth:
    https://www.alz.org/alzheimers-dementia/what-is-alzheimers/myths
    https://www.alzheimers.net/these-things-do-not-cause-alzheimers

    And especially this article ...

    https://www.healthline.com/health/aspartame-side-effects

Acceptable daily intake levels of aspartame
The acceptable daily intake (ADI) is usedTrusted Source as an estimate of the amount of aspartame that can be consumed every day over a persons entire lifetime (the general population, including all age ranges and physical conditions) without any adverse health outcomes or side effects.

The ADI recommendations from the FDATrusted Source and EFSA for aspartame are:
    • FDA: 50 milligrams (mg) per kilogram (kg) of body weight
    • EFSA: 40 mg per kg of body weight

To put this into perspective for a person weighing 150 pounds (or 68 kg), the below is what would have to be ingested to meet the FDA ADI:
    • more than 18 cans of zero sugar soda per day
    • 3,409 mg of aspartame — or roughly 92 packets of Equal — per day

It’s a bright spring morning, and I am having a leisurely day. Planning to look at some old photo CDs. We have a new computer and I want to familiarise myself with it.

    Intentions for March:
🔹Maintain weight < 140 (I have managed to stay at the lower end off the 140s)
    🔹Continue with Solid Habit development

    Intentions for today:
    📍Solid habits
    📍general chores
    📍Review photos
    📍work on art display

Virtual (((hugs))) and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for all those those who need them.

🙋‍♀️ Miele failte to the newbies.

    ☘️ Terri

    March Action for Happiness:
    1. Set an intention to live with awareness and kindness. I intend to live with awareness and kindness
    2. Notice three things you find beautiful in the outside world.Trees silhouetted against the sky; the appearance of snowdrops in spring; the sound of waves breaking on the shore.
    3. Start today by appreciating your body and that you are alive. I meditate on this each morning when I wake up, and am grateful for each new opportunity to have a good day.
    4. Notice how you speak to yourself and choose to use kind words. Positive affirmations are very powerful. Be kind to yourself, always.
    5. Bring to mind people you care about and send love to them. We chatted with our girls about other family members, and raised a glass to them.
    6. Have a ‘no plans’ day and notice how that feels. I will do this tomorrow (7th)
    7. Take three calm breaths at regular intervals during your day.Resisting the temptation to plan my day. Serendipity reigns today.
    8. Eat mindfully. Appreciate the taste, texture and email of your food. ✔️
    9. Take a full breath in and out before you reply to others. I’m a great advocate of deep breathing, and find this works well.
    10. Get outside and notice how the weather feels on your face.I wasn’t looking forward to going outside this morning as we had snow overnight and it seemed very cold. However, the sun shone in a clear blue sky, and the wind had dropped right down again, and I spent time with my eyes closed feeling the heat on my face before I went into the centre for Latin Study.
    11. Stay fully present while drinking your cup of tea or coffee. Always! Gives me calm thinking time.
    12. Listen deeply to someone and really hear what they are saying. When I tried to do this with DH this morning, he got distracted by a discussion on What the Papers Say on TV. 😝 However, we often have in-depth discussions, usually over lunc and dinner.
    13. Pause to watch the sky or clouds for a few minutes today. The sun was valiantly trying to break through rain clouds just after sunrise, but the forecast is for heavy showers, but I’m watching the blue patches in hope that it clears up.
    14. Find ways to enjoy any chores or tasks that you do.Doing the task isn’t the problem 😝 It’s getting started that’s difficult. I sometimes put on my favourite music, or listen to a podcast.
    15. Stop. Breathe. Notice. Repeat regularly. Having coffee after putting away the week’s groceries. There is pink blossom on my prunus purpurea, magnolia buds are beginning to colour up, tulips and daffodils in the containers outside the window are beginning to bloom. There are lots of little birds flitting about in the trees. Spring is doing its best to banish the winter cold. This is a regular joy in my life.
    16. Get really absorbed with an interesting or creative activity. I am preparing some paintings for a display of my Monday Painters work
    17. Look around and spot three thing you find unusual or pleasant.Today it is more like autumn tha spring. There is a thick sea mist. My usual view of countryside is reduced to about 500 yards. Everything looks damp and grey.
    18. If you find yourself rushing, make an effort to slow down. Took things slow and easy today. Planning to do the same tomorrow as it’s Mother’s Day in UK.
    19. Appreciate nature around you wherever you are. My writing desk has a lovely view of the countryside beyond houses. And there are lots of bird life flying about amongst the trees in the neighbouring gardens..
    20. Focus on what makes you and others happy today. My writing, and my art always makes me happy, and sharing it with like-minded people makes them happy. That means that today was filled with focusing on what makes myself and others happy.
    21. Listen to a piece of music without doing anything else. ’Love Affair’ - Rainbow Valley. (NOW! That’s 60’s)Hubby came home and disturbed me 😝
    22. Notice something that is going well, even if today feels difficult. My prep for the art display next week is going well. Most members have already given pieces for display.
    23. Tune into your feelings, without judging or trying to change them. I am fully in the moment, relaxing, and contemplating what I will have for breakfast, and how I will spend my day. DH has gone out for the day so I am free as a bird so to speak. (My natural bent is positivity. I choose to be happy in the moment. I acknowledge all my feelings, but on the rare occasions when I feel down, I choose to count my blessings, put in some music and dance.)
    24. Appreciate your hands and all the things they enable you to do.
25 Focus your attention on the good things you take for granted.
    26. Choose too spend less times looking at screens today.
    27. Cultivate a feeling of loving-kindness towards others today.
    28. Notice when you are tired and take a break as soon as possible.
    29. Choose a different route today and see
    what you notice.
    30. Mentally scan your body and notice what you are feeling.
    31. Discover the joy in the simple things of life.

    Disturbing work event
Received call Tuesday am there was explosion and fire at location we are remodeling. I was waiting on retirement until that project was finished. Moving close to finish line after several setbacks. Workers were moving propane tank and dropped it. Exploded. Huge concussion-literally lifted roof up off building that was nearly finished. Front and side of another building caught fire (luckily buildings are brick and cement block construction. Two of the workers suffered significant burns and are in hospital for at least a month but they believe they will make it. Waiting to determine next steps-but engineer believes building with lifted roof can be saved. I am so grateful that the construction workers are doing ok so far. However, later that day I received news one of our supervisors passed.

So sorry! That's terrible for the people involved! :open_mouth::(

Massive legal and workers compensation battles for years ahead!! I hope you won't be involved in that part.
