It is our 20th meeting anniversary on the 6th of May. We first met on an early dating app and scheduled a first get-together after work in a historic pub in Covent Garden. We celebrate that much more than the wedding. In my diary this year it is also the date of the coronation and Max's birthday. It also falls in the middle of DH's cricket days.
Today he said he would not go to cricket that day.
I'm surprised they are running it, to be honest. Anyway, we thought that it would not be a good day for going out for a meal. So we already have some lovely champagne, and we have decided to recreate the first meal we ate together that night. After an initial beer at the pub, we went to a pasta place and DH had spaghetti carbonara, and I had chicken caesar salad.
So, we are going to do a course each. DH is going to make an authentic carbonara! This is not anything like the kind of thing you get in an Italian restaurant! No cream. I have ordered guanciale (look it up) from Amazon and my son says he will buy half of it. I can freeze it in portions. Just need pecorino. Hooray! Found a really authentic recipe he can follow. I will make the caesar as a starter, so just a small portion.
Already looking forward to it!
Mustn't forget the Lagavulin we had as a nightcap after I dragged him back to the pub. We have some at the bottom of a bottle. 16 year old.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxxx10 -
Mary thank you!
Heather that sounds wonderful! So romantic!
I put a pot roast on the stove and that is my big accomplishment for the day. Not even laundry. Oh well the day is not over yet.

Margaret ... I take Vitamin D and magnesium as well. There is a difference in my leg cramping as well as my joints when I forget.
Annie ... yay for the loss!
Kim ... is your mom home with you yet?
Barbara ... In my area, none of the stores allow tipping to the individual who brings your bags to the car. No cash. They refuse it. Instacart allows tipping online to a person who delivers to your home. If you pick up your items at the store the "shopper" has been tipped through a "service fee." Probably safer that way.
Machka ... I LOVE your necklace and earrings!!
It's been a busy and stressful week and I'm glad that it's Friday. I have no plans other than going to church on Sunday. If the weather cooperates, I may start picking up downed branches in the yard but they're expecting 60 mph winds tonight so that won't start until the winds pass by.

Thinking about you, Kim. When does your mother move in?
And thinking about you, Rebecca, and your tender mommy heart.

Barbie, could you get a gift card for your grocery delivery person? Call it an early/late birthday present or something like that?
Machka, hard to believe it's been 5 years since your hubby's accident. I remember it like it was yesterday, as I'm sure you do as well. {{{HUGS}}} Congrats on the new job! Sounds like you are enjoying the challenge.
Lisa, OMG! I want that little black kitty! Too cute for words....
Pip, sorry to hear about Lucy's setback, you and Kirby really are great parents to your furbabies.
Heather, so nice that Johnny is giving up a cricket day to celebrate the anniversary of your meeting!
Lanette, your chicks are so cute! I'm looking forward to reading more about your adventures with them! I have a cousin who has chickens, she named them after her mom and three aunts (one of which was my mom) as she says they are the strongest women she's ever known! She's not wrong....
Ginny, wow! That workplace explosion sounded really scary! I too hope that the workers recover well and quickly.
Had the grands for about 6 hours on Wed, was exhausted by the time I took them home! But our son and daughter in law were able to get their greenhouse up without "help" from the littles so it was worth it. I picked them up just after 11, so was able to get to the gym first. We had lunch then went to the playground for a few hours. It was such a glorious day, gorgeous sunshine, I was in short sleeves with no jacket, not normal for me at all! and managed to get a sunburn on my arms and upper chest. Slathering moisturizer very generously on both areas to try to minimize the damage. After we came back from the playground, I asked my gs if he wanted to make rice krispie squares with me, he declined but I started making them anyway. At that point, gd wanted to help and even brought over her own chair, so I let her "stir" the marshmallows and "help" me measure the cereal. It was fun and at that point gs decided that he wanted in on it (big surprise, lol) so he was also stirring the marshmallow mixture and I just realized that we didn't put any vanilla in. Oh well, they turned out just fine, lol. I did use a mix of regular and cinnamon flavoured cereal, so plenty of flavour without the vanilla. I put it into two pans, one of which I had lined with parchment paper. I put that one in the fridge so it would cool faster as the plan was to take it over to their house. Then they started arguing over a stuffy, I tried to referee at which point gd announced she wanted a bath. She's been asking for a bubble bath for a few weeks but with having to go pick up gs from school, there just wasn't time. That wasn't the case this week, so into the tub they both went where they tried to drown each other, the bathroom and me. sigh. Fortunately, I have learned that they like to splash water so already had a couple of towels on the floor for easy clean up. I usually have a change of clothes here for both kids (because you never know!) so was able to put clean clothes on them afterwards. It was a good day all around, and I stopped at a local grocery store that has hot food for take out and picked up some Chinese food for dinner for hubby and I. I got some almond chicken chop suey, never did find any almonds in it, but the chicken was so tender! Lots of zucchini for veg, which hubby isn't crazy about so I had that all to myself, did not make me sad at all! I enjoy zucchini once in awhile.
Sorry about the book! Now I must go and accomplish something today. I think I'll start with giving our bathroom a deep clean, it's been several weeks since it had a deep clean.
Hugs for those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!

Update from Destiny's mom-
Sad news, but I think it is the right choice but it was definitely not a decision we took lightly. If we did not make this decision then she would have keep bleeding and not be able to live, or do things she wants to do. Or even be able to get on any type of chemotherapy or even on a trial. So if all goes well and her platelets go up and stays up by next week they will be taking her leg off next week.
She needs some encouragement because this was a hard decision she made and she is nervous and scared.. But she wants to fight. She doesn’t want to give up.. and she needs prayers. That all her scans come back good. ( which scares the heck out of me that they won’t)15 -
Barbara-If they are just bringing it out of the store and putting it in my car, I don't tip at all. If they shop for it, drive it to my house, and leave it on my porch, I tip a few of dollars, but not more than 10% and usually more in the 5% range.

Nice weather the last couple of days! Maybe Spring is here. If so I will try to get out and clean up the garden!
I make a to do list every day and get through much of it. I am tired in the evenings. Tomorrow I head to Atlanta to see my son. I have never seen his apartment! I hope I don't get too tired, but the only way to do more is to do more!

It really made it unique when I sprinkled the sauted onions and mushrooms on each layer. I use both Italian herb paste, and roasted garlic paste. I also precooked the zucchini strips by baking them, with Italian seasonings. Just maybe 10 minutes, so not long. Just not raw when you assemble.
Its time for lasagna!💖👍🏻

Wishing all the best for Destiny. Such a strong young lady.
Annie: Keep it up! You are such an inspiration.
Lanette: Love the chicks and can't wait for updates.
Ginny: That explosion sounds scary. Glad you are safe. Hope that you will find the perfect time to retire despite this mishap.
Lisa. 💚 That kitten face.
Pip: Please DM me the link to your donation page.
Machka: My best accomplishment this week.... I'm over the Covid~ All symptoms gone and tested negative after 8 days. Whew.
A senior gentleman who lives across the street invited me over for a glass of wine. He has seen me walking Mars numerous times by his home. He even remembers my DH doing the same years ago. This invite came out of the blue and I accepted because I know that I need more personal interactions. J projects a friendly and positive vibe. I took Mars on the appointed day and learned that J welcomed Mars into his beautiful home back when this cat was a full grown neighborhood stray. The three of us had a lovely visit. J is divorced, retired from a successful career, well travelled and a voracious reader. His home is warm, beautiful and neat as a pin. He put out a generous platter of finger foods, and baked oatmeal chocolate chip cookies from scratch just for me. What a treat. I so enjoyed getting to know him better and hope that we can develop a deeper friendship.
Tomorrow I'll be getting back to work with 'my boys', the Denver Nuggets. While I was isolating with Covid I puttered around outside clearing up and getting ready for spring annuals. However, knowing Colorado, we still have alot of freezing temps ahead.
Speaking of looking ahead....two months from today I will be in Brighton, UK.... Details TBA.
Stay well friends. We can do this.

Good Friday evening,
Spent hour and a half this morning trying to figure out how to record snips from security cameras for police to download to flash drives. Luckily I don't have to do it often, but that means I have to relearn when I do need to accomplish this. Theft was next door at gym. Lots of thefts in gym parking lots!!!! Please leave valuables at home and keep your keys on you and not in locker. Young man's car was broken into using his key from his locker while he was working out.
After that, DH and I came home to meet furnace guy as our furnace was dripping water on floor. While they took care of that, I paid a bunch of bills to put in mail once I got back to shop. Finally made it to the bank to deposit the rent checks for March (better late than never). Then back to work we went. One mechanic left before we got back, SIL left 20 minutes after we got back, and second mechanic left at 3:00 and won't be in tomorrow. SMH! I managed. Just busy enough to not get a lot of paperwork done, but I did notice one thing.....my attitude is much better when I don't have to deal with everyone else's attitudes! Now, if I could just learn to accept work that isn't up to my expectations......Someone asked me if the mechanics had charged the battery on their mower. I responded with they are suppose to, so I am assuming so since the invoice said they checked the electric start. Anyway, good end to the day.
This is youngest granddaughter, 13 y/o, heading out to her 8th grade formal. How did she get so grown up?
Dinner done. Furniture loaded in truck to take to Kentucky tomorrow. Check books balanced and a couple more things taken care of bill wise. I will sort some paperwork for work as soon as I clean the kitchen up. We were going to get to see oldest gs play in a jv baseball game after work tomorrow as it is the only one scheduled when we could possibly go, but that has been cancelled as the field is under water.
Love you ladies!
I am so glad we all have each other's backs!
